Eleanor was born just a few years after her older sister Emily and was born a few months after Stefan Salvatore. Because the two of them were so close in age and had a lot in common they spent a greater part of their childhood together. Of course, the young witch had to keep her magic a secret from her human friend as witches still weren’t accepted though Ele would end up breaking this rule the day of Lillian Salvatore’s funeral.

Damon had been nowhere to be found and while the rest of the older Salvatore’s were off looking for him, their Dad had taken the younger ones home. All besides Stefan at least who was still at his Mother’s grave when Eleanor had found him. She was still new to magic at the time as she was only 10 like the Salvatore boy but she sat there with him and softly recited a spell, cream violets growing around Lillian’s headstone as she did. Afterwards he promised he would keep her secret, even from his family, something that the young witch was very grateful for.

It didn’t take long after that for the two of them to become inseparable and any new spell Eleanor learned she showed her best friend. A few years later when they were 16, just a few days after the young witch’s birthday, the two of them finally confessed their feelings for one another and not long after took each other’s virginity. It was almost three months later when Eleanor started to show signs of being pregnant and went to tell her parents, her Mother confirming it with her magic.

Now, the Bennett family had enough problems at that time and their youngest daughter having a child out of wedlock with one of the founder’s sons was the last thing they needed. So, they sent Eleanor a few towns over to stay with her Aunt, telling everyone as well as Stefan that the young girl would be back in a little while, that she was just going to spend some time with her Aunt after she lost her husband. Which wasn’t completely untrue but they neglected to tell the Salvatore boy the rest.

Eleanor still wrote to Stefan but her family had made sure she left out the news about her having his child. It was almost a year later when the Bennett witch finally returned to Mystic Falls with her son, though to everyone else the boy was their nephew that they took in after Eleanor’s Aunt had gotten sick and passed. No one questioned it too much, though Ele and her family knew people had their suspicions and were spreading rumors.

A few months after Eleanor got back to Mystic Falls the Pierce twins showed up along with other vampires, something the Bennett family were all too familiar with. Things between the witches and vampires in Mystic Falls weren’t great but they were decent, the two supernatural's keeping each other’s secret and occasionally helping one another but they were by no means friends. However that quickly changed after Katherine found herself becoming jealous of the young Bennett witch.

Stefan and Eleanor weren’t as close as they’d been before she was sent away but they were slowly repairing their relationship. At least until she had caught the Pierce vampire and him in his room and stormed out of the house before he’d even noticed, though Katherine had. It was after that when Eleanor decided to leave Mystic Falls once again but she didn’t want to leave without an explanation this time and wanted to come clean about Salem.

So, she wrote one last letter to Stefan, telling him if he wanted to come with her and their son where to find her before she left and magically sent it to him. Except Stefan never got the letter because Katherine had found it before he did and after destroying it, sent Kamen to get rid of the girl. The Pierce vampire had killed her, but he’d given her his blood first and when she woke up a little while later he gave her human blood, a crash course in vampirism and enough money to get her and her son far away which was exactly what she did.
