Open starter for Genshin Kira~

There was so much to look at and learn about here in Sumeru, and while that fueled Kira’s desire to learn, going to the main cities--where much of this knowledge could be found--was rather...taxing for her. She didn’t like the Akasha terminals, nor the looks she got when she wasn’t wearing one. She didn’t like how the scholars looked at everyone else as if they were nobles or aristocrats looking at the general public like dirt. So, she stayed in the forest for the most part. 

“What...??” She froze and looked before her at the patch of greenery a little ways away. The area looked cloudy with fog, despite the fact that there was no fog where Kira stood, and the plants...they looked like they were decaying... What was happening.?? She hasn’t been in Sumeru for very long at all and had yet to come across something like this. Her vision glowed upon her chest, as if warning her against proceeding. What was happening to the forest..??

Working with other demon slayers was always a gamble when it came to Kira, as much as she despised it. Kagaya must have known this and still paired her with others, even though she had the strength of two or more slayers... As tedious as that could be, she trusted her master’s judgement. If he wanted her to work with someone else for a mission, she would do it without verbal complaints. 

Night had securely fallen upon the town that Kira was supposed to meet her temporary partner in. There were rumors of a demon haunting the town at night, taking unsuspecting people who were out and about. Too weak to attack the entire village as it seemed, but still strong enough to still be alive. That won’t last. Kira was already trying to sense the presence of another demon and pinpoint the location...but she wasn’t alone, she quickly realized. Human with strong breath control, so must be a demon slayer. Her partner.

Kira turned around to face him, offering the man a close-lipped smile. “You must be my partner, then? It’s a pleasure to meet you. Let’s find this demon and eliminate them.” Even though she didn’t really need it, Kira found herself holding her breath for a moment--time to see if she will have to complete this mission alone or not. Some humans have heightened senses and can just tell that she’s a demon... She hoped he wouldn’t be the case.

Kira sat under the shade of a tree, writing diligently in a journal in her hands. She appeared to be glancing up every now and then, either evaluating her surroundings or deep in thought about something before quickly going back to the book and writing whatever it was back down.

She sensed a demon. There was a slightly tremor in the air, the way her skin prickled at the strange feeling overwhelmed her. However, this was different than what she usually felt. More akin to how she felt around Tamayo or Yushiro with no bloodlust in the air. Odd. Kira never thought she would sense another demon like that. However, she didn’t dare let her guard down just yet. She had to keep her guard raised...so she placed her hands on the hilts of her swords.

“Who’s there?” she called out as she looked around. Electric blue hues darted from side to side as she tried to make out just where this demon was... Because of the strange feeling alone, she won’t attack without being prompted to. Maybe there was another benevolent demon out there... It had to be possible; she, Tamayo, and Yushiro couldn’t be the only ones. Still, she didn’t want to let her guard down and have it end poorly for her.

Genshin!Kira open~

This feeling… It drew her in just as much as it concerned her. Kira had been to Liyue many times but had never gone anywhere near The Chasm. She had no reason to, after all. But standing here, enveloped by the darkness…and yet with the ever so distant feeling of desire to go deeper. Was this merely her adventurous spirit wishing to explore this new area? Or…was it something more..?

“Are you sure we’re allowed down here..?” Something felt wrong about this. There were multiple Hilichurl camps down here, but they were all abandoned. Part of her wished to leave, but she found herself still intrigued. What a strange sensation…

“The only thing us cryo users have going for us is our loneliness and abandonment issues. Lots of emotional baggage.”

“Not fun.”

ROBIN​:

The same anxiety Kira was feeling was going through Robin then. If they got separated, would the Slate still transport both of them out? Or would it only work if the Hero was holding her companion so their connection was forcibly teleported through space? For a moment, Robin considered doing an experiment once they got out of this Shrine… See if they could teleport apart from one another.

With Kira’s entrance through the closing door, Robin sighed out in relief, smiling at her friend with a glimpse of newfound confidence. Why did she ever doubt? Together, they could accomplish a lot.

“Well, let’s see.” Turning, she gazed out into the shrine interior. This puzzle was a little more straightforward, again involving a switch of some kind. Though this time, it was a gem upon a raised pedestal, floating and suspended by ancient magic.

The stone had to indicate some sort of puzzle involving projectiles. 

Kira followed Robin’s gaze, turquoise hues landing on the strange levitating gem. Well, this was luckily something Kira could help out with. “I’ve read about these in books,” she explained as she walked over to the switch. “It’s a sort of contraption designed by the Sheikah. Contact with the gem will cause some sort of response. I assume the energy used from the contact is transferred from the gem into the mechanism connected to it... So if we want enough energy to make a lasting change, we should probably attack it.”

She stepped further into the new area as she looked around, trying to see if there were any details they were missing. “Given the nature of that switch, I don’t think stasis will work on it. And I doubt simply hitting it would mean the end of the puzzle.” That would be far too easy, right? She walked towards the door. 

“Maybe the gem switch is timed? Or perhaps you can hit it once to open this door, but there may be another door on the opposite side that closes along with it. If the latter is the case, the obvious answer would be for one of us to stay here and hit the switch again to open the other door, but I don’t think we should be separated like that...” She shrugged. “Or, maybe all we have to do is hit the switch and open the door to move on. I’m only making grand assumptions.”

“I...don’t understand. If you want to kiss someone, why not just ask them? Or kiss them directly? Why play a silly game as an indirect form.??”

“Why are the men in Sumeru all so damn gorgeous??”

She wouldn’t normally say such a thing out loud, but she’s at her wit’s end...

“In theory, the idea of a greater network of information is a brilliant idea... Having a library of information at your fingertips is almost too good to be true, where you can find all sorts of information with just one single thought.”

“But connecting the minds of these humans and compiling all of their ‘wisdom’ into one space... If the Akasha has the ability to access a human’s wisdom, it must have access to their brains. One single and collective way of thinking brings no change to scientific theory since there are no differentiating perspectives. Everyone believes the same thing and has the same access to knowledge, so no one is challenging what they think they know. And if the Akasha is linked to the Akademyia... Human beings are known for being flawed. There are good people in the Akademyia I’m sure, but there must also be bad people. This amount of power should never be placed in any human’s hands... Access to the knowledge and the thoughts of everyone who establishes a connection with the Akasha it too much power.”

“And...if someone were able to hack the Akademyia... The result would be catastrophic. At the worst, possibly even mind control....”

“With La Signora gone, the Harbinger ranks are full of far too much testosterone...”

“None of this scares me, actually... I’m not afraid of the paranormal. I’ve heard ghosts do exist, but I doubt they could cause too much harm. And any harm done could simply be cured by an exorcist. If any true dangers arise, I have my vision to keep me safe.”

Besides... She’s learned now that the only things one should be afraid of are the physical things that could hurt them. And with her vision...she won’t get hurt.

The young woman sat alone, glancing off to the side. Weinlesefest was time for family to return with the winds, yet here she was, without the rest of her family... And despite the letter she received from her father, she knew it wasn’t enough. She still felt so lonely... Why was he always gone..?? Why was he never home anymore.?? And why couldn’t he tell her about the details, even when he used to tell her everything..??

      “Ya can’t or ya won’t?” The air suddenly became thicker as he called her out for her decision. Whether Kira was serious about what they had or not, Link was. Whatever this was, he was invested. So much so that he had constantly stuck his neck out for her, allowing her to get away with so much and escape unharmed when he had so many chances to take her in. Shaking his head, he felt a tinge of guilt at what he had said. 

      “Sorreh. Ah’m just…Ah’m still in pain and Ah guess it’s put me on edge.” He did his best to wave off the negative air he had just put out. “Ah want to stay somewhere with ya and live like–we’re just normal people. Together. Like a…couple.” The silence that followed as he stared down was deafening, biting his bottom lip, the third year let out a stuttery sigh. “Is that wrong of me? Ah wanna know if this–whatever it is, is worth it. Cause Ah think it is.” 

     “Ah don’t know if Ah could handle ya tellin’ me it isn’t though. So Ah’m scared. After everythang that’s happened ta me, Ah just wanna know that at the end of the day Ah still have you, Kira.”

His immediate response startled her, immediately causing he woman to put up her walls once more. The tension in the air could only be cut by a blade. Her brows furrowed as she stared at him, but her gaze wasn’t harsh. It was like she was failing to attempt to seem on her guard, but it was written clearly on her face that she was hurt by his words. Kira didn’t know how to respond…

Ever since she left the house she grew up in, she was Shadow. That was what mattered the most. “Kira” was the girl left behind in that dark place, the one that was too weak to stop anything until Shadow took over and broke free. Kira was weak…but Shadow was strong. And Shadow would continue her killings regardless of who she was dating and what he wanted. However… Link made her feel like Kira again, which was just as warm as it was frightening. She learned to hate who she was without the villain mask, but Link made her want to be Kira again. That was bad…wasn’t it? If she stopped being Shadow even for a month or so, did she want to see who was left..??

But instead of talking about how she felt, she raised her guard. Link didn’t even know about why she was Shadow… He didn’t realize just how broken she was. But that was alright; broken glass could make the deadliest of weapons. But trying to put the shards back together… Kira crossed her arms over her chest as she looked down to the side. “Why me.?? I’ve done nothing but lie to you about who I am. You should hate me, but… You still want me in your life. Why?? You can’t honestly think this won’t make things harder for you, right.?? You’re asking a villain to live with you. Doesn’t that frighten you or something.??” Give him an out… Maybe that will hurt less than when he really gets to know her and learns just how broken she is.
