“Your dog’s a cutie,” Cassie hummed, already smiling. She had appeared from nowhere, as usual, sitting atop the roof of a nearby car. Her dirty shoes bumped a soft rhythm against the metal.

She knew better than to get too close to the creature — animals and ghosts generally didn’t get along. She had made herself appear more human — more approachable — but she doubted it would make a difference. The cold chill of her presence lingered.

Too bad. She wished she could offer pets.

Still, the dog was cute! She couldn’t resist giving a compliment. She leaned forward slightly, her voice bright with friendly curiosity. “What’s his name?”

basically, if you pay attention to cassie and treat her like a regular teenager rather than a ghost, but also compliment any ghost tricks she performs, you’ve earned her respect and appreciation. if you join her on thrillseeking adventures and pranks and possibly give her keychains or stickers or anything shiny, you’ve earned yourself a chaotic ghost friend.

“oh, it’s awesome. like— okay, there is a ghost there, but he isn’t murderous or anything. all you gotta do to keep him happy is give him a baseball card that isn’t in his collection yet, and they sell packs of baseball cards in the gas station store. then you can use a baseball bat or whatever to break stuff.”

“hey, so i’ve been stuck in laundromat dimension for the past couple days, what did i miss?”

“why do we use pspsps only for cats? why not, like… dogs? or raccoons? or bears?”

“there’s this abandoned house near the woods with tons of broken shit in it. most folks don’t mess with it ‘cause there’s supposedly a monster or a murderous ghost lurking inside, but like… that totally isn’t true. some local kids spread those rumors ‘cause they wanted a house where they could break everything and no one would stop them, and it worked.”

“i think the locals would be way less stressed if they went into the woods and yelled more often. or like, broke things, or set things on fire as a treat. like, i get that they’re scared of getting eaten or cursed or something, but they still oughta try it, y’know?”
