dresses in gryffindor tower
pairing ; pansy parkinson x fem!reader
prompt ; Communicating through eye contact in a crowded room
wc; 1.1k
————————————-
At hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, every house had a reputation for something.
Hufflepuffs were excellent healers and good at herbology.
Ravenclaws were good at charms and super smart.
Slytherins were assholes who were occasionally good at potions
And Gryffindors… Gryffindors threw incredible parties that spread among all the houses and often throughout older years.
This particular one had been in the works for a month and was definitely one of the best ones since the legendary ones in the 70’s.
The gryffindor common room had been charmed so none of the teachers would be able to hear the noise being made by all the students, the sofas usually crowding around the fireplace had been moved to the edges of the room incase people needed to sit down and recharge, and there was a long table full of drinks, both alcoholic and not, and picky food like crisps and a few bowls of sweets.
People from all different houses and years were scattered throughout the Gryffindor common room in anything but their uniforms and the password to the tower had been sent out on charmed pieces of paper to majority of each house, apart from a few people who were known to cause a bit of trouble among the houses.
Stood by the tall window was you, dressed up in a short black polo dress that had been in your wardrobe for ages. you hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet because all you had been doing was going to class and then going to bed, occasionally hogsmeade but it was always too cold to wear it. So it had finally come out of its previously permanent place on the hanger.
Pansy wore a similar one across the room, a silk green mini dress, talking to a few of her friends who were crowded around the drinks end of the table.
you had been stationed by the window for the last hour, occasionally talking to people you had a few classes with, but right now you were glad to have found someone to have a proper conversation with that lasted longer than two minutes. While you was leant against the wall, your classmate stephen was stood in front of you with his hand against the wall just by your head. The conversation had started off light and about the classes you both shared and what you wanted to do after hogwarts, but it quickly morphed into something you really weren’t liking.
“ so, you want to go into hospitality after school ?”
“ yeah, i’ve always wanted to help people even before I knew I was a witch. “ you spoke, fiddling with the straw in your drink
“ and what does your boyfriend think of your need to care for others ?” this was the question that made your shoulders stiffen and made you shift slightly on your feet.
“ i don’t have a boyfriend “ you said simply, trying your best to find pansy with the added issues of stephen blocking most of your vision of the room.
By the drinks table, pansy had had her eyes locked on you all evening. It was hard to keep her eyes off of you in that dress, she thought you looked absolutely stunning. Every few minutes she would glance across the room, hoping to catch her girlfriend's eye so that she could try and convince you to leave and take advantage of your empty dorm room. But when she caught a glance of your shoulders tensing and your e/c eyes attempting to scan around the room, Pansy excused herself from the conversation with her friends to get a slightly better view of you in case she got the sense you truly needed saving.
“ well maybe I could change that, can’t have a pretty girl like you being all alone at these parties. “
your eyes looked everywhere but at the boy stood in front of you until you spotted pansy just to the side of stephen, pretty focused on your interaction.
Instead of responding to the boy stood in front of you, you shot your girlfriend a look of help, one only recogniseable amongst girls. The one that said ‘get me out of here’.
With that look, pansy set her drink down on a nearby table and walked over to where you were leant awkwardly against the wall. She stood beside stephen, making sure he knew she was there before the brunette spoke up.
“ you want to get out of here, darling? Maybe we can get back to the dorm before the girls get back and have a little fun” she smile spreading across pansy’s face was enough to relax your previously tense shoulders.
Without any regard for stephen in his slightly drunken state, you nodded and moments after, pansy had slid her hand into yours and taken you across the room so you could leave.
Before you got out the door, Pansy picked up one of the bottles of fire whiskey from the end of the table, figuring it wouldn’t really be missed.
“ thank you for saving me “ you muttered softly as you made your way to the slytherin dungeons hand in hand. Without a word, Pansy pressed a short kiss to the top of your head as you both continued walking.
Suddenly the short dresses seemed like a bad idea with the amount of draft you got in this castle.
But it wasn’t too long before you were walking into your dorm and pansy was setting down the firewhiskey on her bedside.
“ my bed tonight ? “ pansy suggested, linking both of her hands with yours and pulling you towards the bed and sitting down on the edge, pulling you to straddle her lap.
your arms slid around pansy’s neck, unable to wipe the smile off of your face as you rested your forehead against your girlfriends.
Pansy’s hands smoothes over the black fabric of your dress, sighing contentedly at the way the fabric felt beneath her fingers. “ love this dress on you, think you should wear it more often “
your smile only grew as you pushed her fingers through pansy’s dark hair. “ you got to give me a reason to wear it “
There were no words for how wide pansy’s smirk grew at those words. “ i’ll give you a reason to wear it “
In one swift motion you were underneath pansy on the bed with the green fabric of pansy’s dress dipping down over her body, her silver necklaces hanging down close enough for you to bite.
Pansy’s hands slid down to your hips, squeezing slightly and causing a soft yelp to escape your lips. She had done that so many times that she could expect that to happen every single time.
And she loved the sound that came from your lips every… damn… time.

₊° 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: y/n lost her diary and pansy happens to find it...
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Pansy Parkinson mindlessly skimmed through the pages, hoping something interesting would catch her eye.
At first, she had contemplated to just leave the notebook on one of the benches when she passed by to step off the train, but her curiosity piqued and made her come up with a quick white lie to tell Draco and the others, before she quickly slipped into the booth and shoved it underneath her sweater.
Now that the first-day festivities were over, and her roommates had already drifted off to sleep, she found the time to examine it. Was it wrong to take something that’s not yours? Yes. Was it wrong to read something that could be personal to someone? Yes, however, Pansy was Pansy. Besides, no one would find out. She’d just leave it somewhere when she got bored of it.
“Lumos,”
She opened the book on the first page and was met with a riddle, written in a beautiful neat handwriting, which seemed familiar at first glance. Pansy rolled her eyes in annoyance- this probably belonged to a Ravenclaw. She quickly wanted to turn to the next page, but all the pages of the book suddenly seemed glued together, making it impossible for her to read the rest. She tried again, to no avail.
She let out a frustrated puff of air and threw the book to the end of her feet. Great, some clever student had put a protective spell on her or his notebook, making it impossible for her to read, and she was not in the mood to figure out a riddle.
Something suddenly caught the Slytherin’s eye. The handwriting on the first page seemed to light up. It made it welcoming to read the riddle once again.
I’m a happy flower, but the dark on my leaves sometimes overshadows.
I might be poorly named, because I’m very tough.
Sometimes I’m just one colour, but I’ve got more sides to me.
I live in the winter garden, where it’s cold and dark.
All the green around me only makes me stand out more.
I’m a pretty flower, and I’m more loved than I think I am. What kind of double meaning riddle is this?!
Her train of thoughts got interrupted,
“Argh, Pans- turn off your bloody light, will you?” Y/N groaned from the bed next to hers, which made Daphne let out a groan of her own, mad that she had stirred awake.
“If you close your drapes you won’t be bothered by it.”
“Both of you- shut up or i’ll have you regret waking me up.” Daphne grumpily mumbled out against her pillowcase.
Pansy tucked her wand and the notebook away. It was too late to figure this out anyway.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Pansy drowned out the conversation some of the Slytherin students around her were having and mindlessly picked at the scrambled eggs on her plate. She was too deep in thought about the riddle to notice Draco sneaking up on her. She yelped in surprise when he grabbed her shoulders and yelled into her ear, a smug smile on his face as she jumped up. Pansy immediately turned around, a glare on her face, and punched his stomach.
“You fowl tosser-”
She grabbed him by the ear before pushing him off when he winced,
“T’was worth the look on your face.” He groaned out, but the smirk never left his face. Pansy pushed her lunch away and stood up, ignoring Draco’s question to where she was going.
Pansy was no fool and knew that the riddle was directed to a plant or a flower. Which one, she didn’t know, but she was going to find out soon, hopefully. Now, she could’ve just thrown the diary somewhere where it would be found, but Pansy would never shy away from a challenge. The password on the notebook had intrigued her even more. She needed to try.
She mindlessly strutted through the doors of one of the greenhouses, hoping to find Sprout. Of course she wouldn’t be truthful about why she needed the help. She felt already worse enough now that she’d have to suck up her pride and ask someone else.
The raven-haired student approached Professor Sprout, who was busy feeding the mandrakes. She noticed Pansy standing behind her when the Slytherin crossed her arms, the movement alerting her.
“Oh, Merlin- Miss Parkinson, you are as quiet as a mouse,” She smiled after her initial fright subsided, “Anything I can help you with, dear?”
Pansy rose her chin, “Yes, actually.” She tilted her head, “I’m stuck on a riddle. I’m sure it’s about a flower, so I thought perhaps you could help me out, Professor.”
“Let me have a look at it.”
Pansy handed her a piece of parchment on which she had written down the riddle.
“Mhm- this doesn’t really ring a bell yet. Are you sure this isn’t a riddle from the muggle world?” Sprout eyed Pansy warily, knowing about her family’s believes on muggles.
Pansy was too busy to notice, realising that this could in fact be a flower from the muggle world. She quickly excused herself,
“No worries, Professor.”
She rushed out of the greenhouse, feeling incredibly aggravated. Of course there wouldn’t be muggle books about flowers in the Hogwarts library. Perhaps maybe a student would know the answer? But who would suffice? The answer to that was the shy and insecure boy she was currently walking up to- Neville Longbottom.
She slammed her hands onto the table, hovering in front of him, making him drop his book in fright.
“You know a great deal about plants, right?”
The boy nodded meekly, not knowing what Pansy Parkinson wanted with him.
“Solve this, then.”
Neville read over the note a couple of times, his lip trembling as he was afraid to look her in the eye,
“Well?”
“I-I don’t know. It...it doesn’t sound like... like, a m-magical plant. Maybe-”
Pansy let out a huff, didn’t care to let him finish and already took off.
Later, during supper, Y/N seemed tense. Everyone around the Slytherin table laughed at Pansy’s joke, except for Y/N, who would normally come up with a witty rebuttal. Pansy immediately noticed and nudged her softly, whispering in her ear-
“Everything alright?”
Y/N tried to perk up and sent her a soft smile. She wasn’t alright. Her diary had been missing ever since the first night back at school. ‘Course she had put a charm on it, locking it for everyone who didn’t know the password, but she still feared the riddle might not have been that difficult after all. If someone would read what was inside, her remaining years at Hogwarts would most likely turn into hell.
She felt someone tap her shoulder- Daphne stood next to her with her hand out for her to grab. The girl had also noticed the shift in her friend’s behaviour and decided to take it upon her to try and change it. Y/N was never one to open up, and that was fine, but Daphne wanted to try and make that frown disappear.
Her welcoming grin made Y/N grab her hand and she held onto it as Daphne led her out of the Great Hall, missing how Pansy’s lips had turned into a sneer.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Y/N walked in with a smile on her face, grateful for the time she had spent with Daphne. They had gone to the Quidditch pitch to watch the Slytherin boys train. Daphne had done her best to crack a smile on Y/N’s face by making jokes and rude comments about their performance. It had also helped release the hatred Daphne felt towards Flint after he had made fun of her for wanting to try out.
Y/N took off her coat and threw it on her bed. The grin on her face almost would’ve lasted if she hadn’t seen Pansy with her diary in her hands.
Pansy hadn’t expected her back so soon. The interruption had caught her off guard and she hadn’t been quick enough to hide the diary on her lap.
Y/N gaped at her friend for a split second before quickly composing herself,
“Where did you find that?”
“‘This yours?” Pansy tilted her head and played with the book in her hands, “I thought it was some Ravenclaw’s.”
“No, it’s not,” Y/N crossed her arms and glared at her. Oh- it so was, and Pansy could tell.
She made a move to grasp it off her friend’s lap but Pansy stopped her,
“Ah- no, no! Why did you have to put some stupid password on it?”
“Because of noisy arseholes like you- now give it back!”
A cocky smile appeared on Pansy’s face as she sat up on her knees, holding the diary above her head,
“Come and get it.”
Y/N wasted no time and jumped onto the girl’s bed, trying to tackle her to get hold of the book while the raven-haired girl made it her duty to try and stop her.
“P-Pansy, stop.... playing-” The Slytherin let out an amused chuckle.
“You really need to be more careful with your stuff. ‘Found it on the Hogwarts Express. If anything, you should be relieved I was the one to find it.”
Pansy laughed as Y/N jumped onto her. she quickly rolled over on her stomach, shielding the book underneath her. Y/N hated how much fun this seemed to the other girl. She tried her best to claw at the girl’s arms, trying to get her to give up.
“Pansy, please-”
The girl was up her feet in a second, walking through their dorm as Y/N could only watch her browse through the empty pages of her diary.
“What’s in it that makes you so skittish? I wonder...”
She smirked again, but after giving Y/N a calculated scare, she noticed how on edge the girl really was. She rolled her eyes halfheartedly and sighed in defeat,
“Fine. Sorry.” She grumpily mumbled out. Y/N grabbed the diary and held it behind her back, afraid this was just a trick. “But how can I be sure it’s yours?” Pansy’s eyebrow quirked up.
Y/N opened the book on the first page and pointed to her scribbled handwriting in the corner, “Does this say Pansy’s property? No! It does not!”
Upon hearing the password, the notebook’s pages turned a shiny golden before simmering down to their normal page. Both girls widened their eyes, but for completely different reasons. Y/N quickly locked it again. She froze up with shame and embarrassment.
“Wait- did you just unlock it? What was the password?!”
Y/N could only watch as she saw Pansy slowly put two and two together.
It had to have been a flower...so...
“Pansies?” She whispered out, more stating than asking.
Y/N hastily buried her diary into the drawer of her nightstand, hiding it under some of her letters from home. She tried her best not to make any eye contact with the girl in front of her. Seeing the disgust or rejection in Pansy’s eyes would not be something she could handle right now, especially not after all the embarrassment. She bit her lip and looked at the door. She could just bolt out of there right now. The thought had just crossed her mind when Pansy grabbed her forearm, having read Y/N’s eyes.
“Why’s pansies the password? I didn’t know you liked flowers.”
She softened her grip on her Y/N’s arm when she noticed the panic in her eyes. Her arms traveled down so she could softly hold onto Y/N’s hand, stroking it with her thumb to try and calm her down and coax her into answering. Why did she seem so uncomfortable?
“I don’t... not really.”
“Why are you so flushed?”
Thoughts raced through Y/N’s mind. Should she say it? Come clean? Keep it to herself? How could she get out of this situation with a believable lie? Or should she still consider just running out of their dorm?
“I fancy you.” She blurted out quickly, deciding to rip the band aid off.
Pansy widened her eyes in bewilderment- she had definitely not expected this.
“Oh!”
She let go of the girl’s hand and looked through the room, still trying to collect her thoughts. Even though Pansy hadn’t been the one whose emotions had just been put on display, she still felt the most vulnerable she’d felt in a while. Y/N’s confession would make her have to face her feelings and confess them too. If not now, it would probably completely ruin her chances. Truth is, she hadn’t actually realised how much she longed for the girl to spill that secret, and it wasn’t until now that she realised she reciprocated her feelings. Their constant flirting, the looks they’d given each other and the need to always be close to each other, touching in some way, hadn’t just been playful teasing or platonic- it had been a constant pining to see who would break first. Y/N had. That much was clear now.
Y/N’s shoulders slumped and she stared at her feet. Pansy took too long to come up with a reply, meaning she was either plotting how to drop her as a friend or considering trying to obliviate her.
But that wasn’t the case at all. Opening up wasn’t something that came easy to Pansy, so it was only fair she needed a moment. As if she’d switched a light inside her brain, she turned back to face her friend, holding both Y/N’s cheeks.
Y/N looked up to find bright green eyes beneath long, dark eyelashes, staring at her. She rose her eyebrows gently in surprise, seeing the soft look in Pansy’s eyes.
Pansy raised a suggestive eyebrow in question, and when Y/N nodded, she brought their lips together. It was a slow, experimental and sloppy kiss. Their noses bumped a couple of times before they finally settled on a comfortable kissing position. Pansy absentmindedly put a lock of hair behind the girl’s ear before pulling her in by her waist. She turned her head slightly, making it easier to deepen their kiss.
Their lips fell into a passionate rhythm, one that took Y/N’s breath away- quite literally. She didn’t want to waste a second and sucked in a breath, not wanting to pull away. Pansy noticed the girl’s eagerness and chuckled, smiling into the kiss.
She put her forehead against the girl’s. The flustered look on Y/N’s face had Pansy melting.
“Breathe.” She whispered, and Y/N listened. She took in a deep breath and focused on the mischievous twinkle in Pansy’s eyes.
Before she could take another deep breath, Pansy’s lips were on hers again, pressing roughly against hers. Pansy let out a muffled moan when Y/N forcefully grabbed a fistful of her sweater, wanting Pansy to be closer. Pansy’s hands traveled down to the low of the girl’s back, the other holding her neck to keep her steady and pressed firmly against her. She bit Y/N’s lip, who gasped, making it easy entrance for Pansy’s tongue. But that was all Y/N would get for now. Pansy abruptly let go of Y/N, startling the girl.
“W-Wha-”
“I figured you needed to catch your breath again?” Pansy smirked, earning a slap from Y/N.
“Real funny, Parkinson.”
