🌸Rules: shuffle your (current) playlist and list the first 10 songs.
Got tagged by @thefeastandthefast and @rain-hat thank you! And like Rain, I’m gonna provide some commentary cause why not lol
Supermodel by SZA - This song and a lot of SZA’s songs, especially from CTRL really are such bare and raw looks into her emotions and this one is no different. Insecurity in love and with others, it can be painful but it is because its so relatable.
The Space Program by  A Tribe Called Quest - Afrofuturist masterpiece, especially paired with the video that came out in 2018. The call backs to Sun Ra’s Space is the Place and the rich visual and lyrical commentary, definitely one of my favorite musical acts (hence why I have so many of their albums on my library lol )
Zombie by Khalil Fong - Love Khalil Fong and Dangerous World was the first album I listened to from him in 2014 and probably one of my favorites from him.
25/8 by Bad Bunny - Probably my favorite track of that album, which helped me get through 2020 and the pandemic. Definitely had it blasting while we moved 150 shares of fresh produce to community in the wake of pandemic or whatever maintenance tasks we had lmao.
Sampaikan Salam Cintaku by Alleycats - My parents are Alleycats fan and so grew up listening to them and grew to appreciate them more as I got older. Also this and Jazmine Sullivan always gets me belting off key in the car.
Oora Paru by Funktuation - I am a fan of Funk and the melding of Tamil music and funk is exquisite. Definitely feels like the legacy of Ilaiyaraja and Parliament Funkadelic in the modern music scene
So Mi Like It By Spice -  I love Spice and this song, it still gets me up to dance after seven years lmao. Always on my cooking playlists.
Hot Potato by N.Flying - The band and this song is just so fun.
All About Me by Syd - Steve Lacey’s production in this is *chef’s kiss* and Syd as well. Also why the Internet is one of my favorite bands and her debut album is still on repeat. All i listened to in 2017 tbh lmao
Voodo Economics by ÌFÉ - An eulogy for a friend of a band who had been killed in San Juan. Grief for a friend, for the death that comes with capitalism.  Borikén sits as an epicenter for that, but also resistance, from the arrival of Columbus to PROMESA. Definitely recommend their music and npr live
Tagging (no pressure!)  @melonatures @sivavakkiyar @pricklypanda @youholdthewater @radio-charlie @why-this-kolaveri-machi @sophrosynic @mockingjaypin @vennilave @anthonybourdainpartsunknown and anyone else who wants to do this
