he was just putting two servings of ONCE UPON A TIME IN MONDSTADT on plates, the hilichurl camp that he’d hijacked for the occasion silent up until that point. it had been a nice thought to arrive and borrow a stove, but that had gone up in smoke as soon as a samachurl spotted him.

well, he was still able to use the stove after a brief delay and some violence.

offering one of the plates to razor, diluc added, “i came here to ensure the food was warm by the time we met for the day. it might be hot still, but it’s fresh.”

right, one for each! i'll do this under the cut to keep the dash looking nice + use an icon for each.

honestly, a lot of my diluc's ships tend to favor partners who have a certain degree of, like, "top energy". he's a switch, yes, but apparently he's into someone who positions themselves as equal or even better than he is. think zhongli, @visionlcss's capitano, etc.

being a challenge or a mystery to kaeya is one way to get him interested very easily. he'd love nothing more than to analyze, deconstruct, reconstruct, and lay bare how you are inside and out. it's definitely why he's taken such an interest in muses like @qucintly, that's for sure.

zhongli tends to latch onto people who make him feel more "human", in one way or another, and ends up taking something from each relationship to improve himself. from guizhong he became wise, from azhdaha he became resolute, from @divitaclara's childe he loosens himself to allow himself some mischief, and from @visionlcss's shizuko he becomes gentler.

some of this is definitely more apparent in certain verses (i.e., the mafia au with shizuko).

honestly, if you just consistently go to her home and have conversations, she'll definitely have her interest piqued. take her out for dinner and you've essentially got her conflicted on whether it's worth revealing she's immortal and that she wouldn't want to watch you age and die and slip through her fingers like sand--

honestly, after a few commissions together, you've already probably got enough room to ask her out. taking her to activities that can help cultivate yang energy is a plus, though; sunny days, sparring, and things like that are enjoyable to her, especially with someone she's grown close to.

he wasn’t sure what to expect, really. more harsh remarks, showing that diluc hadn’t allowed his walls to lower? the outstretched but nervous hand approaching reconciliation, before pulling itself back? the latter being all the more painful than the former, as the latter gave him too much hope.

diluc ragnvindr was a man that was difficult to surprise, even on nights like this, where both monster and man lurked with hearts blacker than the night. it was he who would bring light to their wickedness, a fire of justice wrested from his chest, from the vision that lay at his hip.

( and once, from the delusion that he'd worn upon his hand. )

tonight was a different sort of night. after all, no member of the fatui had seemed absolutely delighted to see him, moreso as diluc was surrounded by the men he had taken out. the redhead's brow furrowed, those scarlet eyes examining the other before he spotted the insignia.

at that, he drew his claymore in front of him. gloved hands held the blade steady, even as his feet spread into a position to keep himself steady should the stranger make a rush at him.

no, not quite a stranger. the description lined up with the eleventh harbinger, the one known as "tartaglia". from what he'd heard, he had to replace signora in mondstadt for the time being, and apparently kaeya had spoken to him a few times.

charles wouldn't have known that a fatui harbinger was in the bar, even if the circumstances behind the "bickering" kaeya was described to be partaking in seemed odd. diluc berated himself for not taking a closer look into it.

"from the sound of it, you're looking for a mark or two yourself." despite his words, his tone was cold, almost withering, as if counterbalancing tartaglia's delighted one. "but unless you want to end up like your men, i'd suggest backing off."

three people asked for this man and i simply must deliver lmao. i’m not writing 15 headcanons for him tho, i love all of u.

1. honestly, don’t get into an imposter situation with zhongli. he’s basically memorized everything about the people closest to him, and he will immediately spot flaws in their actions, their appearances, even the way they speak.

2. like the other adepti, zhongli has his own domain. post-retirement, he’ll sometimes visit if he really needs a break ( and he’s not sleeping in the funeral parlor’s coffins /lh ), or if he wants to grab something.

3. under his gloves, zhongli’s hands feel like smooth stone. this was actually a decision he’d made when putting together his rex lapis form, and he’d gotten rather attached to it. so, there you are.

4. zhongli refuses to say "uh" or "um". whenever he says "ah", he means either "ah" or "uh" or "um". this isn’t even on purpose, i keep noticing it when i write him.

5. if a person is close enough, zhongli will allow them to see his true form. this reveal might most likely happen in his domain or somewhere remote to prevent others from seeing, but like...who would believe someone going “I SAW REX LAPIS HE’S ALIVE” after seeing the exuvia that day?

not me abt to post before doing enjou, i’m sorry honey. he’s under the cut.

1. i’ll shamelessly admit that some of his personality is kinda extracted in bits from fn/af’s fu/nti/me fr/ed/dy. specifically the version of him in “count the ways”. good sense of humor. pretty morbid. never shuts up.

2. when enjou's in human form, there are a few quirks that would make him stand out if you manage to catch them. he has no pyro vision, but he's warm like a pyro user; he has an aversion to swimming ( walking in water is fine, but he complains a bit ) and places like dragonspine even with coverings.

3. one would think he'd have a complex over being an abyssal monster, but he doesn't. he's actually kinda awkward about his human side. he feels weaker with it. like stumbling around in clothes that don't quite fit.

4. enjou grew up without many friends. so he fills the silence with chatter. when he does make a friend, he gets pretty attached pretty quickly.

5. this man would unironically say “trucies”, look me in the eye and say he wouldn’t.

1. diluc idealizes those he’s close to. it’s very clearly not healthy and sets him up for the worst when things inevitably fall apart. he doesn’t realize this.

2. honestly, while i’m still not 100% on what crepus was like, i definitely feel like diluc put a lot into idealizing his father. considering his father’s last actions, and the fact he had to kill him, and the fact that crepus is dead and can no longer “fail”, this...doesn’t really bode well for anyone being able to drive in that his father wasn’t perfect.

3. diluc squishes the bugs.

4. he has a tendency to mutter “archons” under his breath. this gets ten times funnier if it’s during an incident where venti’s roaming about, because he’ll mutter it, think about it, and get a bit red in the face.

5. diluc picks up chopsticks very quickly. “what? it’s not hard at all.”

taking an interest in liyue and her history is more than enough to get zhongli grabbing you. that's his baby! his 3'700+ year old baby! he cherishes liyue and its people, and even tries to learn about the newer introductions to liyue's culture brought in by the youth.

honestly i'd give my right arm to see him listening to xinyan talk about rock and roll.

playing hard to get is definitely one way to hold onto kaeya's attention; just the right interspersing of hot and cold will have him hooked on you like an addiction. being too cold will push him away, though, so keeping that balance is key.

i guess this is more of just advancing on capitano's scale of respect, but ironically you can just hang around him and you'll eventually just be tolerated for that...if you don't offend him by doing something stupid on the battlefield, of course.

three for pierro? damn i have to think abt this.

the first thing i can think of? be patient with him. for him, his duties have taken top priority even since he was a child, and so the stirrings of romance may even go unnoticed by him for a while until someone actually points it out.

second, ask him what's on his mind. again, being a royal advisor for khaenri'ah and then the number one head honcho of the fatui next to the tsaritsa himself typically means he's always acting in the interest of the greater "good", rather than his own interests, although they tend to be quite entwined with those ends.

thirdly, throw him for a loop sometimes. ask him about that yae publishing series you've been interested in. ask him about his thoughts on gossip.

...honestly getting into a relationship with pierro is just inherently getting him to loosen the fuck up. tsaritsa knows he needs it.

archon: which nation’s known ‘ideal’ do you like the most: freedom, contracts, eternity, wisdom, justice, or war?

honestly, from a pre-genshin point of view, i would've definitely said that "wisdom" would be my preferred ideal. i've always had a bias for intelligent or wise characters, and when i was younger, had a huge bias for athena.

from a post-genshin point of view, though, so far i'd have to say contracts. i guess it's because it's held such a long-lasting history, to where even those who benefit from the "death" of their archon still choose to uphold his principles.

venti: which character(s) do you think you’d actually get along with if you were to meet in person and who do you think you’d actually dislike interacting with?

liyue edition!

get along with: zhongli, xiangling, keqing, ganyu; zhongli for many reasons, xiangling because she can infodump about food and i get to eat her cooking, and keqing/ganyu because we...have similar outlooks on working.

rex lapis: what’s your favorite cultural aspect of each of the released nations?

for mondstadt, i very much enjoy the fact that so many events are centered around the past and how it built the culture that mondstadt now upholds. even a game as simple as windtrace has its roots in the rebellion against the nobles.

for liyue, it's the fact that despite rex lapis's "death", divinity is still in the lifeblood of liyue. history flows through liyue, and we are merely a part of a new age.

for inazuma, it's how female-centric the nation is, despite the writing flubs that the quests had. most of the movers and shakers of the nation are women, from the archon herself to the generals fighting in the wars.

for sumeru, it's definitely the implication that sumeru has just as rich of a history as liyue does. while nahida is only 500 years old, it's clear that the legacy of rukkhadevata is long and rich.

barbara: you’re a tourist traveling teyvat, which locations in the game would you want to visit in person?

i'd want to visit windrise's tree and azhdaha's tree...both places seem like very serene places to just rest and take in the surroundings. there's something about the desire to find the biggest tree in a nation and rest beside it, dreaming of the past...

When did you first start writing?

ehhhh i wanna say 13 years old? on paper with pencils and pens. i was introduced to tmnt and for some reason i wanted to write fanfic. but i wanted to also be a part of it. ironically, the self-insert i had for that was just as shallow as literally everyone else, but it did get me started on my love of writing. i just had to learn.

What is your favorite canon muse?

on this blog, i guess it might be diluc, but i also think it's because i've projected some things onto him, both from myself and character archetypes i've much enjoyed.

as a whole, it's hard to choose, but i can at least give a handful. donnie, shredder raph, miketrap...okay so they're all canon divergent in a few ways, but shhhh.

let me put the rest under a readmore, because things do get more nuanced from there.

Who was your first OC?

honestly, this is also even more hairs to split.

there was one from a batch of my very first writings who began to show more of a personality over time, and eventually she became a longer-lasting oc, until i eventually wrote an original story for her. unfortunately, as i shared her and even rp'd her on tumblr to return her to her fandom-based origins a bit, things began to stack onto her that i hated associating with her.

people godmodded her. one even wrote in/ce/st about her and her goddamned daughter. they acted like they knew her more than i did. eventually, she no longer felt like my character, but a stranger. i still have everything for her, but i couldn't look at her the same after that point onward.

ironically, she wasn't even the self-insert of that group of characters. she just happened to develop a personality first.

HOWEVER. if you want to talk about the character i first called an oc and had the term for it, that would be roza. she was also the first self-insert that i'd made simply because hee hee hoo hoo comphet feelings.

In what fandom did you start?

that would be the tmnt fandom, both for writing and rping!

What are you looking for in a ship?

honestly, you have to hit that wire just right for me to talk for ages about a ship. i don't know how, but it really just happens sometimes, with some ships sticking to a wall better than others.

What are the trends when it comes to writing that you adore?

post-length icons are a blessing, honestly. you get a lot of room to express yourself on them, and it really helps with designing a vibe sometimes.

a foot nudged the mitachurl on the ground, before coryn moved to one of the barricades the hilichurls had made. while diluc could easily be able to beat them down or burn them, there were a lot more than usual. the hilichurls had apparently been quite busy last night.

“if we set fire to a couple of these, i can use butterfly fists to spread it to the others. then we can sit down, watch ‘em burn, and then continue down the road for other barricades.” coryn summoned his catalyst, using a hand to summon several “hands” made from anemo. “from the sound of it, there’s a few more ‘checkpoints’ we should be hitting too.”
