to  be  one  of  the  best  known  shadowhunters  in  the  world  .  .  .  theo  had  never  thought  he'd  engage  with  someone  who  held  that  classification.  and  then  jace  herondale  showed  up  at  the  los  angeles  institute.  theo  had  immediately  jumped  on  the  opportunity  to  train  with  him.  why  wouldn't  he?  jace  was  amazing,  and  probably  one  of  the  few  shadowhunters  in  the  world  that  wouldn't  look  at  theo  with  absolute  disgust  because  of  being  half  werewolf  (  although,  it  wasn't  really  a  half  and  half  situation,  but  that  was  irrelevant  ).  ❝  thanks  again  for  this.  ❞  theo  said,  examining  the  wall  in  the  weapons  room,  trying  to  figure  out  what  would  be  best,  he  didn't  really  have  a  specialized  weapon  yet  .  .  .  but  he'd  get  there.  he'd  had  a  late  start,  after  all.  ❝  it  really  means  a  lot.  ❞

the  answer  is  a  resounding  no.  he'd  been  busy  dealing  with  cohort  stuff  and  making  sure  that  zara  dearborn  experienced  every  possible  minor  inconvenience  that  she  could.  he  knew  he  couldn't  actually  do  anything  to  her,  but  more  than  anything  else  .  .  .  he  just  wanted  her  to  be  miserable.  it  had  quickly  become  a  full  time  job.  every  time  she  referred  to  him  as  a  half  breed,  one  of  the  things  was  making  sure  her  coffee  was  just  a  little  bit  too  cold.  just  enough  to  make  it  undrinkable.  so  at  cristina's  question,  theo  shrugged  his  shoulders,  ❝  unsure.  how  long  have  we  been  in  today?  i  ate  something  .  .  .  at  some  point.  probably.  ❞

❝  i've  never  made  a  bad  decision  in  my  life.  ❞  theo  scoffed,  shaking  his  head.  it  was  a  lie,  obviously.  theo  knew  he  made  bad  decisions  on  a  semi  regular  basis.  theo  ashdown's  entire  life  was  honestly  bad  decision  after  bad  decision.  as  a  kid,  he'd  tried  to  hard  to  impress  the  pack  which  led  to  several  dangerous  decisions  over  and  over  again.  ❝  i  am  practically  a  moral  pillar.  i  take  the  high  ground  in  every  situation.  you  should  aspire  to  be  more  like  me,  really.  ❞

theo  can't  help  but  frown  as  rosalie  speaks.  he  knows  their  relationship  has  been  rocky  situation  after  rocky  situation,  and  they  don't  really  sit  and  talk  much,  things  are  more  snark  and  physical.  but  hearing  rosalie  open  up  .  .  .  it  was  something  he'd  never  expected,  so  he  listens  to  every  word,  takes  it  all  in  .  .  .  ❝  if  he  weren't  already  dead,  i'd  kill  him  myself.  ❞  he  growls,  eyes  flashing  gold  for  a  moment  before  he  forces  himself  to  get  it  under  control.  he  can't  lose  control  of  the  wolf  right  now,  not  when  he's  trying  so  hard  to  manage  it.  ❝  i'm  sorry,  rosalie  .  .  .  ❞  he  whispers,  voice  soft,  ❝  i'm  so  sorry  you  went  through  all  that.  ❞

theo  sighed  as  he  buried  his  head  in  his  hands,  he'd  been  thinking  a  lot  about  his  past  lately  .  .  .  he  was  grateful  that  the  los  angeles  institute  had  taken  him  in,  but  he  hated  that  his  werewolf  side  was  just  .  .  .  a  dirty  thing.  he  wished  his  father  hadn't  died  and  that  he  could  have  had  an  .  .  .  equal  training  from  both  sides,  but  that  wasn't  the  case.  ❝  he  shouldn't  have  died.  ❞  theo  muttered,  shaking  his  head,  ❝  i  know  that's  how  alpha  stuff  works  .  .  .  but  my  dad  didn't  deserve  that.  i  still  needed  him.  ❞  he  knew  how  weak  he  sounded,  but  he  couldn't  help  it.  he'd  been  struggling.
