HAPPY FIRST OF OCTOBER!

The spooky month is upon us! We have a few exciting events coming up this month, for those who love fall and Halloween. And we have some fun tasks to help get you in the spirit. But mostly, we wanted to touch base on some rules and updates and get everything to where it needs to be for the month ahead. Let's go!

HAPPENING IN OCTOBER!

SHELTER APPECIATION WEEKEND (October 6 - 9): join us at the Animal Sanctuary to donate goods and food for pets, or to adopt your very own best friend!

HALLOWEEN MASQUERADE (October 28; ooc 24-30): the Benefactor has lent us a mansion for the night. Come dressed in formal wear (and a mask!), and feel free to add touches of Halloween. Adults only!

HALLOWEEN NIGHT (October 31): head to the Community Center to chaperone the party for the kids, or gather up a group of kids and take them trick-or-treating! (This is also the night to post your costume.)

OCTOBER'S MINI-EVENTS!

October 1 -- Coffee Day: start a coffee chain at Cobblestone and keep paying for the person behind you.

October 4 -- Cinnamon Roll Day: a fun day to send a cinnamon roll to, well, your favorite cinnamon roll!

EXTRA BIT OF FUN!

We are running our "four photos of fall" task for the month of October! This should be a fun one, as it's sort of moodboard ish, but easy to do, the only challenge is that you may not use any photos of your face claim (stock photos of people are okay). Can be done all October, but does not count for activity -- please do not rush, save it for some downtime. If you have not already had a chance to do our previous Halloween-related task, you can find it here, and we will also allow that to be done during the month of October!

IMPORTANT NOTES!

please take a moment to refamiliarize yourself with our rules, as we have made a few changes to reflect activity now that we are back on schedule with checks, as well as cleaned up & tweaked things.

another gentle reminder, as we know this isn't a rule everywhere, but please do not 'mass post' finished replies -- if you must work ahead, stagger them in a queue a few minutes apart, but otherwise dash can become super hard to navigate, and overwhelming. especially now when activity notifications are unreliable, and people are drafting replies off of dash as they come in. it becomes easy to lose things in a large batch posted all within a few seconds!

speaking of: notifs are still a little messy. do what you need to do to track your activity! but please remember what we mentioned in the ooc: trackers are for your personal use, sharing where you are at with OOC contact, plotting, etc. is unnecessary and can put pressure on others. just keep 'em for you!

if you list a wanted connection or if you fill a wanted connection, please be communicative with one another and be sure that you are fulfilling your end of the bargain, so to speak! don't just pick up a WC to join, and then not write with that person, and on the other side, don't ignore someone who picks up your WC. we want to be sure everyone gets what they want from connections.

we've decided to stick to our 20 cap, with 5 extra bonus spots once 20 is reached. those 5 spots must be filled by wanted connections only, although you're always encouraged to pick one up (especially as an existing writer).

moving forward, we will only allow writers to pause characters for one month, and they can only pause two at a time (unless there are extenuating circumstances). if you need longer than a month, you must contact us to ask for the extension.

oh! and November. we have candy day, world kindness day, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday for little things around town, with Kindness Weekend, the Railway 5K, and Thanksgiving happening, as well!

HOW STRICTLY DO YOU FOLLOW CANON? I try to follow what little it gives us as best I can with her speech mannerisms. But in terms of personality, we don’t really see much of anything so it’s heavily headcanon dependent. Even in other verses, I try my best to adhere to her character, even when things are considerably different than how things are in her main verse..

SELL YOUR MUSE! AKA TRY TO LIST EVERYTHING, WHICH MAKES YOUR MUSE INTERESTING IN YOUR OPINION TO MAKE THEM SPICY FOR YOUR MUTUALS.   For one she’s drop dead gorgeous. Perfect hair, perfect skin. Perfect clothes, and graceful as a butterfly. She rules over the kingdom with a kind heart, and sees to it that everyone has what they need, regardless of monetary income. She houses the homeless in the castle, so that no one has to go without. No one goes hungry in her kingdom, sometimes she cooks the daily meals herself. 

NOW THE OPPOSITE, LIST EVERYTHING WHY YOUR MUSE COULD NOT BE SO INTERESTING (EVEN IF YOU MAY NOT AGREE, WHAT DOES THE FANDOM PERHAPS THINK?).   The fandom lmao. They think she’s nothing but ship material, when a ship needs chemistry and development. In game, Link is always a child, even as an adult. He grew up with his spirit sealed away, so I don’t ship him with anyone. They think she’s useless and can’t do anything for herself when she went into hiding for seven years and became a secretive ninja. Without her, Link would have never been able to save Hyrule. But no, she’s just useless baggage lmao thank u fandom. In reality, she’s a little too much the perfect princess part. I try to break the stereotypes with her interests but she still behaves properly in e very situation.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RP YOUR MUSE?   It started out as a group thing on my old blog. That didn’t last long. I actually first started writing her in November 2014, but due to lack of interest, I dropped her until around summer 2017. What inspired me was how strong she was. How much she had to deal with, and she still carried on the grace of a princess while doing so. She has my favorite hairstyle of all Zelda canons lmao which was a part of why I chose her. But I grew up with her, and while all the boys my age wanted to pretend to be Link, i wanted to pretend to be Zelda. She was strong, intelligent, and thank you to SSBM for showing off how powerful she could be. It never touched up upon her magic, but it was obviously something if she could open the doors in Ganondorf’s tower. And she holds Ganon down while simultaneously powering up the Master Sword. That’s all we see of it in actual game.

WHAT KEEPS YOUR INSPIRATION GOING? The people I write with, really. They make it so fun for me to explore her character. Drabbles keep me going to, I didn’t have a drabble tag on my old blog but now that I do, I feel like I can write her in situations of my choosing rather than relying on a partner to take her to that situation. That and I just love writing drabbles lmao it’s very interesting for me. I’m not the best at keeping up with replies, my motivation to write comes and goes. But I’m thankful to everyone who has been patient with me, I’m definitely doing better on this blog than I was on the blog she was previously on.

DO YOU ACCEPT CRITICISM WELL ABOUT YOUR PORTRAYAL?   Of course. Constructive criticism is a good way to further your portrayal ability. As long as it’s not like, bashing someone. There’s a big difference between criticism, and hate. I delete hate, I don’t even answer it. I haven’t gotten any, but if I ever do, that’s my plan. Not even going to give people the time of day if they’re going to be petty children. I’m a grown ass adult and I surround myself with other grown ass adults.

DO YOU LIKE QUESTIONS, WHICH HELP YOU EXPLORE YOUR CHARACTER?   Y e s. I’m always looking to develop her more. Make her more realistic and inspiring. Feel free to always send something that delves into her character, or builds upon the world I’ve created for her.

IF SOMEONE DISAGREES TO A HEADCANON OF YOURS, DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY?   I’d be curious, but I doubt I’d change anything based on it. I’ve thought long and hard about what I headcanon for her, and I’m not going to change it just because some person disagrees with what I interpret. Everyone interprets differently, that’s the beauty of having duplicates. I love duplicates <3 Let me see how you portray the same muse!

IF SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOUR PORTRAYAL, HOW WOULD YOU TAKE IT?   I wouldn’t mind. Not everyone meshes together perfectly, that’s how the world works. If we don’t work together, I wish you the best of luck of finding someone who really clicks with you and helps you improve upon your own writing and characterization.

IF SOMEONE REALLY HATES YOUR CHARACTER, HOW DO YOU TAKE IT?   It doesn’t bother me. Life’s too short to hang onto things like that. I hope they find a Zelda they really do like, and I hope they have lots of fun with that writer. Like I said before, not everyone is going to mesh together perfectly. And if I’m not the one, someone else is.

ARE YOU OKAY WITH PEOPLE POINTING OUT YOUR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS?   Sure. I want my writing to be easy to read for everyone. As long as you’re not overly annoying about it.

DO YOU THINK YOU ARE EASY GOING AS A MUN?   I think so

I’m pretty chill and willing to make verses for people or include them in my verses. I’m here to write for fun, and I’m drawn to others who are here for the same thing. If someone makes a mistake I don’t attack them for it or anything. Everyone makes mistakes, even me. People deserve to be respected, and told respectfully if something isn’t working out. If I don’t think we’ll work out as partners, I just don’t follow. There could be a million reasons for that, it shouldn’t be taken personally.

I’m always open for talking OOC, though I’m commonly busy. That’s why my blog runs on a queue, I start writing late at night when I get some time, and have it post between 4PM and 6PM when I think people are most active. But I’m always open to messages and I get to people as soon as I can <3

HAPPY FIRST OF DECEMBER !

It's the last month of the year... can you believe it?! Whether it was a good or a bad year for you, it's coming to an end and a fresh start can begin... very soon! We have a few things to go over, as usual, to wrap up November and jump into December. Then we'll be full steam ahead into the holidays and hopefully a shiny, fun, prosperous 2024!

HAPPENING IN DECEMBER !

WINTER FUN PARTY (ic: December 2, ooc: November 30 - December 6) -- happening at Blades in the countryside, a chance to get out and do all of the cold weather fun stuff!

WINTER HOLIDAY MARKET (ic & ooc: December 17-23) -- happening at The Hideaway Market! Come do all of your last minute shopping or just enjoy an old fashioned market!

NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY (ic: December 31, ooc: December 26 - 31) -- a glitzy night out to celebrate the last day of the year, and have some fun together!

EXTRA BIT OF FUN !

Since we have a lot of holiday-centric things happening this time of year, I thought for our task, we'd do something a little different! Lindsey actually came up with this idea last year, so we're implementing it now. Our very own Merrock wrapped, for you to dive in to what your character listened to, watched, and did through the season. Enjoy! However, if you do want to do holiday tasks, we will allow task #3 (the wonderful world of winter) and task #7 (holly jolly season) to be done in December, as well.

BEHIND THE SCENES !

as I've mentioned, all events for December and January are completed, drafted and ready to go!

additionally, the images for the entire year have been saved, which means things just have to be picked away at.

but there are some events we will be asking for your help on, whether it be choosing a theme, or deciding what to do, so always keep your eyes open!

that being said, January will see the Polar Plunge and the royal gala, as well as mini events like houseplant appreciation day, strawberry ice cream day and world snow day!

we'll be deciding after the holiday if we want to keep our cap at 30, or go ahead and lower it once again, as well as deciding on rolling acceptances vs. slated days.

you'll likely see changes in 2024 regardless -- updated pages, re-formatted acceptances, updates to forms that are filled out, all that good stuff. start fresh, right?

He knows that pancakes aren’t enough, especially in the long run, but perhaps they will be enough to keep 'ordinary’ for the next few days ─ anything to prolong the inevitable conversation. “Please?”
