I think mostly car culture but also the internet has irreparably stunted people’s ability and care to drive well it’s insane how many people will openly brag about being a dangerous driver like it’s fun and quirky and not something that gets people killed in the thousands every year. Some laws are unjust but i promise you distracted driving and speeding laws are there for a reason not just to make your day a teeeeny bit harder

#I genuinely will look down on you if you drive dangerously and think you’re scum if you’re proud of it #everyone can agree that drunk driving is fucked up and reckless but at least drink drivers make that decision while impaired #people who text while driving are making that decision to be dangerous and risk killing people over a fucking text #‘oh haha my driving toxic trait is that i tailgate and text while driving’ I hope you lose your liscence before you kill someone #most of my patients have concussions because of even simple shit like being rear ended or non fatal accidents #and they’re still life changing events #I don’t think people understand how badly and permanently you can fuck someone up even from just giving them a concussion #I see people who’s brains were hit so hard they don’t have the ability to read up close because their eyes can’t form one image anymore #and this isn’t like the uncommon worst cases. this is COMMON
