1, 3, 11, 14 for Goldie + Theo

from my wip satanic panic romantic (say that five times fast, jesus) drama— (further details of which i’d link to if tumblr’s tag system wasn’t beating my ass rn, ugh)—

1. who would end a heated argument by defending their actions with ‘because i love you!’?

honestly, neither of them. their ~affections are, for the most part, much… quieter, i guess is the best way to describe it, than anything that would be compelled by high tempers.

theo in particular doesn’t let his temper get out of hand, especially with anyone who is, yk, for all intents and purposes, “weaker” than him (in this case, he’s not going to get all shouty at a girl half his size, even in some grand romantic gesture kind of way, bc that just sounds like an excuse to be a dick and he’s not super interested in upholding his family history there).

3. do they wear the other’s clothes? (sweatshirt, bandana, necklace, etc.)

i’ll deffo have a more in-depth answer for this once i start really digging into the little details of the story, but as of right now…

theo gives her his wristwatch, and goldie has this dainty pair of rose-gold cross earrings, one of which theo will eventually wear (yeah yeah it’s very breakfast club, but also not really).

11. do either try to hide their emotions if upset? can the other still tell?

i’d say theo tends to calm himself down before he moves on to the let’s-deal-with-this stage of things, so he doesn’t hide his emotions so much as he processes them.

as for goldie, she’s pretty incredibly repressed (catholicism) and, considering the setting — her rigid upbringing, her small conservative hometown, the whole satanic panic backdrop — she also isn’t sure who she can trust with her mental health issues.

theo catches on to her tells and her coping mechanisms pretty quick (he’s observant and, yk, possibly has a history of… preoccupation, with goldie). part of their relationship arc is theo learning how to best approach whatever’s going on with her, so that he doesn’t make a wrong move and then she shuts down further out of this sense of self-flagellation.

14. how do their personalities compliment each other? how do they clash?

goldie is going through a sort of emotional upheaval that theo is familiar with, even though the circumstances are different, so he knows fairly well how to navigate it.

but theo still has this really deep-rooted self-hatred, too, based on his history, which goldie sort of smooths over — she’s a very rational person, and she’s able to see other people’s emotional struggles from a really empathetic, constructive perspective. she is very much a “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” kind of person.

they’re definitely both givers, and it’s not really until they cross paths with each other that they finally start to get something back.
