Botanical Headcanons - Accepting

I think Chrome enjoys the winter holidays.  It is a time of getting together with family and sharing gifts with people.  She likes getting chocolates and sweets the most from it.  She is a little tickled by the German tradition of putting one's shoes outside for treats from Saint Nick for example.  It is not the only tradition she likes for the winter holidays.  There is more that she likes to learn from other people.

She would enjoy traveling to other countries, because it is a huge mess in Japan during the wintertime and New Years’.  Ken and Chikusa fight over who gets KFC, and M.M. would much rather get something less oily, but expensive.  She would much rather she spend time alone with Mukuro, but she does have to share his attention with his other comrades.

She might wander off I think, flutter over to the Vongola to share gifts.  She is an ambassador of sorts for the Kokuyo Gang.  I like to consider her one-half of the Mist Guardian.

Gifted to her in the future arc from ten years later Mukuro, these box weapons have been waiting to serve their mistress. This is proof that Chrome can become a separate entity from Mukuro. They can work in tandem with Mukurou or Fukuro.

Dying Will Flame :: Mist

Allows her the capability to summon a group of butterflies in her arsenal of varying colors and flames. The leader of this kaleidoscope of butterflies is Dieyuan. He sees himself as the Monarch or Emperor of butterflies. The butterflies can eat another's flame to energize true illusions.

Allows Chrome the capability to summon a group of moths in her arsenal of varying colors and flames. The leader of this eclipse of moths is Chandra. She sees herself as the Queen of moths. The moths have a vampiric attribute and can absorb flames to help energize true illusions.

With the energy that Chrome takes from another's flame, Chrome changes it to Mist Flame to command her butterflies and moths. The butterflies are usually diurnal while the moths are typically nocturnal.

Chrome has her own box animal she uses when she cannot use Mukurou.

For me, I believe box animals are kind of like the spirit, totem, and power animals you would see today in many cultures. Animals have long been known as motifs in many art and technology.

But back to Chrome. I feel her box animal when she does not have Mukurou are the moth and butterfly. It is a symbol of many things, but everyone agrees it is a sign of change and metamorphosis. There are variant types of butterflies, and they all come in different colors. This will become important in the future.

I am not sure what to name these butterflies, but they come in different colors and different species. It is important to note that some cultures believe the butterfly is a representative of the soul and sometimes means death and rebirth. Much of the motifs for Chrome and Mukuro are duality, death and rebirth, reincarnation, and Buddhist and Western traditions.

Basil: does your muse have a love–hate relationship with anyone or anything?

Chrome

It becomes Mukuro in the middle of the story for me.  We do not know how Chrome actually feels, it is only in handfuls.  She has become a minor character at this point since Mukuro has been freed.

She is tired of depending on him.  Tired of her disability because it limits her potential as an illusionist.  However, she desperately wants to be seen as someone outside of Mukuro’s shadow.  However, to do that she has to accept she might always be in Mukuro’s shadow to another person.  He is more experienced in fighting and in handling himself than she is.

It stems from her insecurities as a fighter and a strong illusionist in her own right.  She never outwardly blames Mukuro for this.  Instead, she tells him she wants to be stronger and to someday stand beside him as an equal.

Sarina

She hates her father, but her love-hate relationship would have to be Xanxus and her fellow Varia officers.

She has to make up for Ottavio’s betrayal.  Ottavio was originally the former vice-captain of the Varia.  He wished to overthrow Xanxus.  He revealed Xanxus’ coup to the Ninth beforehand.  She has to work her ass off to be trustworthy in the eyes of the other officers.  And she has to be better than the Gola Musca, their mechanical Cloud officer.

And she has to make sure the Ninth (Nono) knows he can trust Xanxus.  Sarina ran to the Nono before she ran to the Varia from her family, the Guerrieri.  She was tasked with keeping an eye on Xanxus.  This is a dangerous task, because she knows about Ottavio’s fate, and knows if she missteps she will end up like him.  Dead.

She will eventually have to choose between the Ninth and Xanxus, and despite her love-hate for Xanxus, she will choose him.  However, she does not mindlessly follow Xanxus.  She will speak up when she disagrees with something.  Is that what you would do for someone you respect despite loving and hating them?

Bluebell: Does your muse learn from their past, or are they prone to repeating the same mistakes?

Sarina

Sarina is a mixture of both, but she has greatly matured over the years.  While she also failed her own coup d'etat against her biological father, she will not fail after taking on missions and serving under Xanxus.  She will learn from her past, and do her hardest to take out her father before he makes plans against the Vongola and the criminal underworld.

She knows in doing what she will do, she risks getting arrested by the Vindice or executed.  She does not want help.  She wants to get back at her father on her own terms.  She will and she has to.  The means will be brutal, but she does not care.

Chrome

I think Chrome will learn from the past.  She is not prone to repeating her mistakes.  She cannot make the same mistakes again as she will probably die from them.  She takes notes both mentally and physically when it comes to being a part of the Vongola and one half of the Mist Guardians.  She cannot let herself or Mukuro down.

Daisy: Did your muse ever feel as though their innocence had been lost?  What moment in their life could be described as the end of their innocence?

Sarina

The moment her mother was killed by her father, Alesso.  She has seen it happen with her own eyes.  The heartbreak on her mother’s face when she knew she would never see Sarina grow up.  The heartbreak when she knew Alesso would never take her daughter or his wife seriously.  The heartbreak when she knew she had only been a womb for the Guerrieri boss, nothing more.  The heartbreak that came when she knew Sarina would be used the same way.

Sarina will never be the same.  She will never love her father.  She will never love her famiglia.  She will always resent it.  In those moments she saw weakness, but later she saw her mother’s strength when she accepted her fate.  Her mother had been the only person who was genuine to her before she met Michaela and the other girls that would become her guardians.

Chrome

The moment she saved the cat and would be run over instead by the vehicle.  She knew her life would never be the same again.  She knew she might not even have a life coming out of this.  She had a feeling her mother would say no to donating organs to her.

And she was not the same again.  She was saved by Mukuro.  Her mother refused to donate her organs to her child.  The Vongola stepped in.

Chrome

I cannot see Chrome actively seeking out a romantic companionship.  She is very shy, and she thinks of her body as damaged goods.  She does cherish the liberties of being single I think.  And she waits for someone to make their move.  She will think it is fun watching people trip over themselves at her.  However, when she does make it known she cannot naturally have children, people tend to reject her.  She prefers to keep relationships within the criminal underworld so she does not have to explain herself.

Sarina

Can see Sarina enjoying the liberties of being single.  If she is actively seeking romantic companionship, she might make people run for the hills.  If she is alright with being alone, she is sure they will come towards her, and if she likes them back, a relationship can form.  However, she is more interested in her career and trying to stay alive.  She prefers to keep her relationships within the criminal underworld, as she does not have to explain herself.  Despite its limitations.

Begonia: How cautious is your muse?  Are they prone to noticing red flags, or paranoid to the point of untrusting mostly everyone?  Why or why not?

Sarina

Is very cautious about who she lets into her inner circle.  She gets along with very few people from the Varia officers I feel.  She keeps a tough exterior, but she has a softer, warmer layer that is reserved for very few people.  And she will keep it that way.  She is hard on nearly everyone, and expects everyone to do their jobs.

She ran from the Guerrieri to the Vongola, and anyone can be moles planted in the family by her father, Alesso to try and kill her for her betrayal.  She has a right to be paranoid and not trusting of other people.

Chrome

She is also very cautious, but she mostly looks at the red flags and tries to inform someone of them before the worst-case scenario happens.  She trusts few people as well and keeps mostly to those she trusts.  As she gets older, she will venture to meet new people, but the new person needs to prove themselves to her.  Respect is earned not granted.  Sorry.

Chamomile: What is your muse’s relationship with their gender?  How do they express or not express this relationship?

Chrome

Chrome is considered cisgender, so she is alright with her gender.  She typically expresses through presenting feminine and dressing in feminine clothes.  However, she does do her best to command respect despite looking more adorable.  She blushes a lot, especially when she needs to be more outgoing.  However, compared to her masculine comrades, she takes a more passive approach to dealing and solving problems.  Sometimes, these solutions come off very brutal and cruel, but she fights for the safety of her peers.

She is no longer Nagi.  She is Chrome.

Sarina

Sarina considers herself female, but she does not exactly adhere to gender norms of a female.  If she is told to make someone a sandwich, she refuses.  If someone tells her to wait on the sidelines in a fight, she refuses.  All throughout her life she was made to feel she was merely a womb for the next heir to the Guerrieri.  That she is not able to become a boss.  It is because of this she rebelled and is determined to bring her father to justice whatever means necessary.  Revenge is a dish that should be served cold.

Iris: If your muse could convey one last message to someone they have lost or left behind, what would it be?

Sarina

It would be to Michaela and her other guardians.  In it, she would apologize for leaving them despite their idea to go to the Vongola for help.  She is alive but she is not happy, and plans on finding a way to save them from her father if he has not killed them yet.

Chrome

It would be to her mother.  In it, she states that she is glad she made the decision to not give her daughter the organs she needs to survive.  She found a much better family because of it, and she is thriving.

Lavender: How easy is it to gain your muse’s trust?  Once their trust is broken, how might one go about mending it?

Chrome

Easier than Sarina’s, but still very hard.  She will be kind to you and polite, but she doesn't trust you.  She is more shy than she is aloof, but she has seen horrors of this world thanks to her introduction into the mafia and her near death experience.  She has been met with doubtful glances when she tells people she does not have many organs left, and that she is disabled.

  Those  that understand her better are those who are close to her such as the Vongola and her friends Kyoko and Haru.  It takes her a little more time to open up to Chikusa and Ken, because they tend to sometimes forget she needs to eat.  When she does eat, they give her oily foods when she should be eating healthier.  Despite her dislike and distrusts for M.M., M.M. actually takes better care of her than the boys.

Chrome will forgive but she will not forget the betrayal you caused her, and she will bring that up when you ask her why she doesn't trust you as much as she did before the betrayal.  As an example, when she was expelled from the Kokuyo Gang, she felt betrayal and while she understood the motives behind it, she did not condone it.  Therefore she will forgive but not forget.  And she will make sure Mukuro knows that she felt a sense of betrayal.  Her feelings should be validated.  Again, while she understood the true motives for her to be more assertive, she does not condone the method used to do so.

I think through learning to assert herself, she sees Mukuro flawed than just her savior.  She still respects him, but does not trust him as much as she did before for a while.  It is when Mukuro learns to be a little more trusting of his peers and delegate tasks to them, will she trust him again.

Whereas, if you are any of the Millefiore or Byakuran’s inner circle, you have a lot of work to do.  Sorry.  She also does not trust the Varia as much as she does Tsuna’s inner circle of guardians.  She knows what the Varia are capable of and they follow Xanxus’ agenda.

Sarina

Oh geez, she does not trust many people and seemingly anyone for that matter.  She knows what her peers are capable of, and there is only so much camaraderie amongst the Varia.  Still, when things become terrible, she’s “They are mine to annoy and to attempt to murder, not yours.”  And she will not give a flying fuck but try to kill the threat before it reaches Xanxus and the others as their Cloud.

The people she truly trusts are those who she considered her guardians.  Especially Michaela, who has become her best friend.  Once she saves them, they can work to become a team again.  However, she does not think she will let anyone else  wear the Guerrieri inheritance ring again.  Especially after Alesso’s abuse of power in the criminal underworld after Nono’s attentions are filled mostly with keeping a handle on the Varia and setting up the Decimo generation.

As for losing that trust and gaining it back.  It really depends on the person, but usually it’s “good luck with that”.  About trying to mend it?  Good luck with that.  She might forgive you, but she will remember what you did to her, and she will bring it up when you ask her why she does not trust you or she has yet to trust you.  It is possible, but it is going to take a long while.

Rose: How much does your muse value other people?  Do they wish to have many friends, lovers, and/or associates?  Are they an easy person to love?

Sarina

It really depends on the people.  She values her own guardians over the Varia, and it will be awhile before she trusts the Varia equally as her own guardians.  Still, anyone is better than being near her father, Alesso, and she will fight anyone allied with her father or are against the Vongola and Varia.  She will devour as much blood as she possibly can for the people she cares or gives a damn about.  She is a glutton for it on the battlefield.

She wishes for people she could trust, not many friends, lovers and/or associates.  They just ask for a circle she can lean on for support.

Are they an easy person to love?  No.  She has her own likes, dislikes, fears, tendencies, strengths and flaws.  She does not apologize for them.  The people who want her to could choke on their own blood for all she cares.

Chrome

She greatly values the people already in her life.  She is willing to die and to kill for them in order for them to stay safe.  She is willing to become a demon for them.  Just let her fight.  Let her learn.  Let her fail.  Let her get up to fight again.

She never expected many friends, lovers and/or associates, so finding that within the mafia stuns her very deeply.  She was used to fearing the yakuza when she was younger.  I think she has some understanding of them now too after being the mafia for as long as she has so far.

Chrome might be an easier person to love, but she does have her own fears, tendencies, habits, and flaws that she and her chosen need to overcome.  Chrome has been abandoned and neglected by her biological family.  She has been bullied by her peers growing up.  She has been left behind by Mukuro’s cohorts before she showed any value to them.  So she is healing quite a number of scars.

Tulip: How does your muse view people in general?

Chrome

She has seen human nature and it is ugly.  Just look at her mother for instance who refused to donate her organs  to her child for her survival.  People need to prove themselves to her if she judges them to be bad people.  However, for people that are kind, she gives them the benefit of the doubt.

Sarina

She does not have much time to view people in general.  She has seen human nature and it is ugly.  She does not have a good view of people in general.  They will have to prove themselves to get any sort of attention from her.
