Send Me 🎔 + A Ship And I'll Tell You: (our 6996)
Tumblr media
Who wins a prize at a carnival/fair/festival: I can probably see Mukuro winning a prize. I don't see Chrome trying much unless it's something she considers adorable. Chrome enjoys the creepy cute mascots the most. She did not get stationery a lot as Nagi.
Who does most of the cooking: I want to say Chrome does. I don't think Mukuro can cook much except breakfast. It's a little headcanon I have since Chrome has been hanging out with the girls and Bianchi. I also headcanon that before Bianchi discovered her "talent" for poisoning her food, she was a prodigy with cooking and wanted to be a chef.
Who does most of the shopping: I would say Chrome, considering she is seen with Chikusa, Ken, and Fran in that one short for the mangaka's dedicated convention. I think she's better with budgeting than the boys are, considering she probably had a limited allowance from her wealthy parents.
Who is hopeless at board games: Neither of them. They're very good at board games. Before she became Chrome, Nagi played board games as it helped her pass the time and kept her out of her parents' way. I would probably go on to say she might have been really good at chess and go but never competed.
Who is always trying to make the other laugh: Neither, it comes naturally that Chrome does make Mukuro laugh. It's out of fondness for her attempts to make him happy. He reminds Chrome he appreciates her in his own way, but after Chrome learns to start advocating for herself, he does learn to be more forthcoming (?) with his appreciation for her.
Who has a tendency to give out TMI: Mukuro, though it's a little bit, but he enjoys making Chrome blush. He's also much more comfortable around her a smidge than Chikusa and Ken. I think this comes from the fact that both Chrome and Mukuro saw the afterlife.
Who does more DIY projects: I want to say Chrome, but I want to say that Mukuro probably designed his signature trident. I feel like he would be a metal worker if he wasn't pulled into the mafia. Chrome enjoys spending time with the girls and making DIY just to learn the crafts so she could be of more use to Mukuro.
Who is the big spoon: Mukuro, because he is taller. However, Chrome will attempt to be the big spoon when he's noticeably sad.
Who gives more casual affection: I would have to say Chrome. Mukuro gives his time and attention to Chrome, but he isn't as affectionate because of his own trauma. If that make sense? Mukuro... I'm under the impression is a little like Law, where he knows he could lose what's important to him? He keeps it at arm's length.
Who reads to whom: I think both enjoy spending time reading various books to one another. It's a non-sexual activity for them to grow more intimate. Mukuro is interested in various philosophies other than his own, and Chrome is curious about what Mukuro likes. You can bet they probably spent Mukuro's birthday just reading Chrome's gift to him.
Who brings drinks and food without being asked: Both do. Food is another thing they both enjoy sharing with each other.

🩸 ...bleeding out. (For Chrome to find Gokuder or Mukuro bleeding out, your choice, from the whump masterlist.)
Tumblr media
It had been days since Tsuna gave Mukuro a mission and things have so far gone as planned.  Chrome obediently stayed behind in the hotel.  Mukuro would check on her in their dreamscape to give her the updates, and she would report them to Tsuna.  Again, things were going well, until a couple of days ago.
Mukuro did not look very good as he visited the dreamscape.  He did not appear pristine.  A bruise was beginning to form on his very spirit within the serene astral plane.  He gave Chrome one cryptic message, and then he was gone.  She repeated it to Tsuna who had gone pale on video call.
Chrome lifted her brows before furrowing them in frustration.  She hated to be kept in the dark, but there was nothing she could do but wait for orders from Tsuna.  “Boss, is there something you’re not telling me?”
“I…” the Tenth stated.
“The mission can’t be disclosed, yet you put me on standby.  Mind filling me in?” Chrome asked.  “Mukuro-sama doesn’t usually send me urgent messages like that unless he’s in trouble.”
Tsuna looked as if he wanted to say something, but Gokudera butted in.
“Chrome, we’re doing all we can to locate Mukuro, can you please be patient?” Gokudera asked but regretted it when he saw Mist flames engulfing her.
“Mukuro-sama’s message states he’s clearly in danger, send me the coordinates.  I’m nearby, or I’ll bribe Viper to,” Chrome calmly stated, narrowing her visible eye.  Her eyes skimmed Tsuna’s silhouette before Tsuna replied.
“Very well, I’ll send you the coordinates.”
Three hours later after the video conference, Mukurou arrived battered but holding its box and the Mist ring.  Chrome’s eye widened.  Without a moment’s notice, she prepared for the mission to rescue Mukuro.  Fastening her secondary box weapons to her waist along with the one she shared with Mukuro, she hurried out the door.  Nodded to the guardsmen on duty, and hurried down the corridor of the luxury hotel.
--
It was hours and a tough battle since, and Chrome pushed herself off the floor.  She let out a small grunt as she noticed her stomach caving in.  She could feel the warm liquid trickle down the side of her lips.  Her eyesight was dimming.  She hovered a hand over her imploding stomach and stabilized her organs.  Chrome wiped the blood from her lips and continued going as Mukurou pointed the way.
Her eyes widened when she saw a figure lying in a pool of blood.  His dark blue hair fanned out behind him.  His eyes closed.  Chrome stepped forward but stopped.  He was in a bad state, but there was a possibility the enemy was luring her into a trap.  Chrome’s one eye closed and opened before she pulled out Chandra’s box.  She held the box as a flaming moth spread its wings and fluttered a fan of Mist flame sparks around Mukuro.
The moth’s flames would be the foundation of an illusion and buy her time to stabilize Mukuro.  Chrome entered the illusion and knelt next to Mukuro after proving the body was not a trap, but the real Mukuro.  She had to work quickly.  She could not tell when he was this hurt, but he did not have much time left.
“Don’t you dare die on me, Mukuro-sama,” she says.
Luckily, she knew a little bit of medicine thanks to her condition.  The man had lost a lot of blood.  Chrome checked Mukuro’s vitals before she stabilized him with some of Chandra’s flames and her own.  Chrome shrugged out of her coat and tied it around Mukuro as a tourniquet.  She sent coordinates via radio to headquarters.

"Maybe I was safe to you, and you needed to feel that." (Mukuro for Chrome)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Maybe I was safe to you, and you needed to feel that.”
Chrome looked up at him with her one good eye.  There was pain in it.  M.M. warned her that Mukuro was just using her, but that was fine with her.  She needed him as much as he needed her, but maybe she needed him more because of the illusion organs that helped her live.
“True, Mukuro-sama, but I needed you as much as you needed me at one time,” she said.  “We were simply using each other to survive.”
A small, melancholic smile as she looked at Mukuro.  She blinked the tears back.
“M.M. from the future warned me which was kind of her,” Chrome said.  She did not know what else to say.  So why did it feel like Mukuro was having a tough time with this as well?  They were not bonded anymore.  She was not merely his vessel anymore.
So why…?  Were they so intrinsically linked?  Perhaps.  It gave her hope, but she quelled it from going further.  There was no way in any of the Hells she would beg him to stay.  Mukuro may have been her savior and someone she looked up to now.  However, now, he was someone she wanted to surpass and be an equal.
“Goodbye, Mukuro,” she said.  Except it would not be goodbye.  No, by the time he comes back to the town, she would have grown immensely as an illusionist in her own right.

"Stab the body and it heals, but injure the heart and the wound lasts a lifetime." (Mukuro to Chrome from my inbox call)
Tumblr media
“Stab the body and it heals, but injure the heart and the wound lasts a lifetime.”  He told her and after waking she had such a migraine.
Sometimes she wondered where her mother and stepfather were, and other times she did not.  Sure, Ken, Chikusa and M.M. were trying to get her attention, but she just did not feel like paying them any mind.  All they wanted was Mukuro, they did not really care about the girl who was his vessel for the time being.
Good, let’s keep it that way, she once thought, while thinking of unsheathing the trident from her bag.
She was the same way.  She only cared about Mukuro who rescued her from near-death and being unwanted from her parents.  Ken, Chikusa, and M.M. were strangers to her as it was.  Here, she was still unwanted, but the only person who could give her a reprieve from the neglect was Mukuro.
And she hated relying on him.  Started to resent him in some ways, but still, she respected and loved him.  She would do anything for him to be around again, however, she hated having to butt heads with his three lackeys.  She watched as Chikusa and Ken got into another fight.  Watched as M.M. did nothing but yell at them both to shut up.  Then, started to turn her attention towards Chrome.
“You summon him!  You summon him, now!” M.M. demanded Chrome.  The older girl annoyed her.
“Stab the body and it heals, but injure the heart and the wound lasts a lifetime,” she said.  “His words.  Not mine.”  She turned to Ken and Chikusa.
And his problem when and if he comes back, but hopefully it stops Ken and Chikusa from continuing their quarrels. It sure shut M.M. up long enough for her to wander away from the run-down school they called their headquarters.

Botanical HC meme - Obligatory Basil, Bluebell, and Daisy
Botanical Headcanons [Word Prompts] -- Accepting
Tumblr media
Basil: does your muse have a love–hate relationship with anyone or anything?
Chrome
It becomes Mukuro in the middle of the story for me.  We do not know how Chrome actually feels, it is only in handfuls.  She has become a minor character at this point since Mukuro has been freed.
She is tired of depending on him.  Tired of her disability because it limits her potential as an illusionist.  However, she desperately wants to be seen as someone outside of Mukuro’s shadow.  However, to do that she has to accept she might always be in Mukuro’s shadow to another person.  He is more experienced in fighting and in handling himself than she is.
It stems from her insecurities as a fighter and a strong illusionist in her own right.  She never outwardly blames Mukuro for this.  Instead, she tells him she wants to be stronger and to someday stand beside him as an equal.
Sarina
She hates her father, but her love-hate relationship would have to be Xanxus and her fellow Varia officers.
She has to make up for Ottavio’s betrayal.  Ottavio was originally the former vice-captain of the Varia.  He wished to overthrow Xanxus.  He revealed Xanxus’ coup to the Ninth beforehand.  She has to work her ass off to be trustworthy in the eyes of the other officers.  And she has to be better than the Gola Musca, their mechanical Cloud officer.
And she has to make sure the Ninth (Nono) knows he can trust Xanxus.  Sarina ran to the Nono before she ran to the Varia from her family, the Guerrieri.  She was tasked with keeping an eye on Xanxus.  This is a dangerous task, because she knows about Ottavio’s fate, and knows if she missteps she will end up like him.  Dead.
She will eventually have to choose between the Ninth and Xanxus, and despite her love-hate for Xanxus, she will choose him.  However, she does not mindlessly follow Xanxus.  She will speak up when she disagrees with something.  Is that what you would do for someone you respect despite loving and hating them?
Bluebell: Does your muse learn from their past, or are they prone to repeating the same mistakes?
Sarina
Sarina is a mixture of both, but she has greatly matured over the years.  While she also failed her own coup d'etat against her biological father, she will not fail after taking on missions and serving under Xanxus.  She will learn from her past, and do her hardest to take out her father before he makes plans against the Vongola and the criminal underworld.
She knows in doing what she will do, she risks getting arrested by the Vindice or executed.  She does not want help.  She wants to get back at her father on her own terms.  She will and she has to.  The means will be brutal, but she does not care.
Chrome
I think Chrome will learn from the past.  She is not prone to repeating her mistakes.  She cannot make the same mistakes again as she will probably die from them.  She takes notes both mentally and physically when it comes to being a part of the Vongola and one half of the Mist Guardians.  She cannot let herself or Mukuro down.
Daisy: Did your muse ever feel as though their innocence had been lost?  What moment in their life could be described as the end of their innocence?
Sarina
The moment her mother was killed by her father, Alesso.  She has seen it happen with her own eyes.  The heartbreak on her mother’s face when she knew she would never see Sarina grow up.  The heartbreak when she knew Alesso would never take her daughter or his wife seriously.  The heartbreak when she knew she had only been a womb for the Guerrieri boss, nothing more.  The heartbreak that came when she knew Sarina would be used the same way.
Sarina will never be the same.  She will never love her father.  She will never love her famiglia.  She will always resent it.  In those moments she saw weakness, but later she saw her mother’s strength when she accepted her fate.  Her mother had been the only person who was genuine to her before she met Michaela and the other girls that would become her guardians.
Chrome
The moment she saved the cat and would be run over instead by the vehicle.  She knew her life would never be the same again.  She knew she might not even have a life coming out of this.  She had a feeling her mother would say no to donating organs to her.
And she was not the same again.  She was saved by Mukuro.  Her mother refused to donate her organs to her child.  The Vongola stepped in.

"Nagi," Mukuro called out to her from in their illusion world. It was one of the only places they both felt safe. "How has Sawada been treating you?" (from Mukuro from my inbox call)
Tumblr media
Chrome decided to put herself on autopilot once Mukuro called to her.  One-half of her consciousness was walking with Chikusa and Ken back to headquarters.  The other is within the grassy meadows.  In the recesses of her mind, she wore a white dress differentiating from the military look she is often clad in.  She always wondered why that was, but perhaps it was because she was always one foot in the spirit world and the living world.
“Mukuro-sama has called,” Chrome said to Chikusa and Ken.  “Please walk a little slower.”  As she hugged her bag to herself.
“M.M. will get mad we’re keeping her waiting,” Ken piped up.
“Mukuro-sama has called,” Chrome merely repeated herself.  Firmly.
Inside the dreamscape, she called out to Mukuro.  Only to spot him in his usual place, sitting on the highest hill overlooking the meadow.  There were puffy clouds in the sky.  She followed his voice and took a seat next to him, while her consciousness kept walking with Chikusa and Ken.
“Sawada-kun has been treating me fair.  Ken-kun and Chikusa-kun have been treating me well too.  It is me who has grown a fondness for sweets rather than steady meals,” she said.  “Do you need Chikusa-kun’s and Ken-kun’s help?  M.M.-san has arrived earlier than she originally intended.”

⌛ - Their future self (muse reactions meme, to TYE age Chrome)
Tumblr media
She was not sure what to feel when she was faced with her younger self.  Her younger self was still a chick holding onto a cracked egg.
She only had moments before going back to the future, to her time.  What could she say to her younger self?  There were so many things she wanted to tell her earlier self.  The only thing she thought to do was smile gently at her younger self.
She was well aware of the pain her earlier self would be in with Mukuro’s departure.  She still did not condone it, but she knew it was necessary to start surviving on her own.  To start being her person apart from Mukuro.  Compared to him, she was more humane and empathetic.  She did not agree on what he decided to do, but she still held space for Mukuro.  That was probably what enthralled him to her, and what might eventually enthrall other people.
Still, what could she do to better protect her own future?  What could she do to stabilize herself while she broke through limitations?  She was technically part of the disabled populace.  She needed new organs to live, but technology was not so advanced to grow their organs.  Illusions can only do so much to stabilize her, and she wants to do many things.  Chrome did not want to stand on the sidelines.  She was tired of other people doing things for her.  She wanted to do those things.  She wanted to help.
What advice would she give her younger self?  She wondered.  She looked down at her hands, and the stomach that caved in often when she was low on dying will flame.
“Live,” she started.  She watched as her previous self blinked and turned to her.  “Live as you would.  Eat healthier and make those appointments.  One day, you’ll be able to run without the need to stabilize illusionary organs.  You deserve to live, Chrome.  You deserve to live, Nagi.  You always did, even when you felt it was easier to let go.  There are people that love you.  There is hope for humanity.  There are people out there who are not like our mother and step-father.”
Her one eye teared up, but she smiled and wiped the tears.
“I love you, Chrome.  I love you very much.  I didn’t at first, but now I do.  You can love yourself now too.”  She told her previous self.
Previous Chrome’s one eye widened and she teared up.  “Why?  Why is it only us?”
Future Chrome smiles, sadly.  “Because we always thought the world hated us.  We always thought the world was against us.  It isn’t.  There’s few people in this world that deserve our love and forgiveness.”  She reached up with a finger to poke Previous Chrome’s forehead.  “It’s all here.  The will to live.  The will to forgive.  The will to become enlightened.  The will to let go of regrets and resentments.  It’s exhausting.  It’s suffering, but you’ll find it’s worth it.”
The previous self blinked but nodded.
Chrome looks at the light.  “We must go back to our times.  Stay strong, Chrome Dokuro.  Stay strong, me.”

"Oi, Chrome! How do you create your illusions anyway?" Gokudera was curious for a while, since he never really harmonized with Mist flame, how was Chrome so good at it? (from my inbox call)
Tumblr media
Chrome blinked as she was called out of her reverie.  She was looking at the white puffy clouds and listening to the breeze.  It has been long since she first cast her illusions.
She looked down at her ring and closed her eyes.  “The Mist is a flame of creation.  Not of destruction.  It is the opposite of the Storm flame.  It needs a passive approach rather than an assertive approach.”  She opened her eyes as a small flame appeared dancing around the seal of the ring.  “Once you coax the flame to life, you should nurture or make it get bigger.  This will be the fuel for the illusions.  You need to trick the enemy’s senses, not just visualize the object in your mind.”
“Hm… a small pipe should work when creating an illusion of one of your dynamites,” Chrome explained.  She formed the flame into one of Gokudera’s dynamites after picking up a rock.  “We’ll start with the dynamite.  You know the shape, the width, the length, and the height when it is standing up.  You know the scent, the feel, the texture, and the color.  You know the amount of explosive substance inside and what wick you used to make it.  All of that is used in an artist’s mind when they sculpt something.  It will just be lighter or heavier depending on the object used.”
She handed the illusion of dynamite to Gokudera for further study.  “You also know how big the explosion is and its effect.  But that’s for after you form one of your own.”

Don't be nice. Be loyal. Nice can be faked. Loyalty can not. (Mukuro for Chrome)
Tumblr media
“Don’t be nice.  Be loyal.  Nice can be faked.  Loyalty can not.”
The calm meadows and the puffy clouds lazily drift in the sky.  Chrome was familiar with the dreamscape.  It was her dreamscape away from everything and the place she met Mukuro.  Away from a body with missing and illusionary organs, to a girl who was whole and content.  It was Heaven away from what she considered Hell.
However, it was a message from her more experienced illusionist.
“I have been loyal to you for years,”  Chrome says, softly.  “I have been your eye and ears.  I want to be more than that.  I dream to be more than that, and yet…”
Chrome’s visible eye closed and tears fell from her eye and eye socket.
“They warn me you were only using me,” she says, as the green grass withered and died and the clouds became gray and dense with rain.  The wind picked up as she stood.  She looked at him with her visible eye, the tears continued to fall.  However, there was defiance.  “You might be, but what they don’t know… I was using you as well.”
A small smile curved at her features.  She stood up, and as she stood and her feet padded the ground the grass grew again quickly.  The clouds disappeared and made way for the blue sky.  It was frightening what the young illusionist could do so quickly if she put her mind to it.  If she truly practiced.  She might one day surpass even Mukuro, but she was still learning.  She was still growing, but also had to create her own organs.
“What now, Mukuro-sama?” she asked, emphasis on the usual honorific.
