although he will never admit it, he has caught feelings for you.

the balladeer, the sixth of the fatui harbingers. the puppet crafted by an archon. he was a superior being to you. you should be beneath him. hell, even lower than enkanomiya.

but even if he would tell you, you would be a target for everyone else. finally something, someone, to get to scaramouche. to able to make him weak enough to falter. as much he harbored this much feelings for someone, he would never be able to make you his. he does not need any more weaknesses as someone who wants to ascend higher than your mortal being.

he has experienced betrayals and loss. they are all around him. they surround him everyday, echoing in his thoughts and past. he remembers the promises he has made to someone. not just once but twice.

once was from a child, probably did not mean to break any promises, but passed away. scaramouche, at the time, did not understand human emotions and feelings. he felt betrayed for the friend who died, breaking the promise.

the other time was someone he loved more than platonically but knew their relationship will never be more than friends. the person was a kind hearted samurai who took in scaramouche when he was once named kabukimono. he truly felt like a human then.

but there was a time he did not want to feel like a human. the name, kabukimono, lost all meaning. the cryo archon granted him a name, The balladeer, for the traits he possessed and although, he knew he was a chess piece within a game against the celestia.

attachments will never work with scaramouche. he needs to feel like he has nothing to lose. therefore, he does not want to experience a betrayal from you. especially not someone he knows he has romantic feelings for.

thats why you will never see a softer side to him. he will be brutal and harsh. he will always never be the one who will lose.
