Radiation, ruins, death and destruction. So many things that would forever be connected to Tandor's history, whether people wanted it or not. What remains of these ruins is usually left to the Pokémon affected by its state- it became their territory until the local Hazma could be taken around to cleanse them.

What was lurking within the area was anything but ghosts and spirits- feral creatures were hiding within the ruins of the structure. Both avoiding the trespasser, and keeping watch from the dark. Granted, Pokémon weren't the only beings that were there at the moment; CURIE had made it a habit to visit the ruins of the plants she destroyed. The Nuclear Pokémon were, in a sense, hers. To not show up would be like abandoning them. She was recognized by them- respected to a degree. Despite their silence, some had made sure to bring attention to CURIE about the intruder.

"They're going to remained worried until all of these ruins are removed." She spoke up from behind, leaning herself against one of the broken walls. Fingers tapped against her arm in both irritation and impatience.

"I must admit, you've got guts to venture into a place like this..." She trailed off for a moment before giving a light hum, tilting her head. "Or maybe it's idiocy? Whatever the case, I would advise leaving sooner than later- the radiation readings here are still fairly high. These ruins don't need another body added to it."

Tandor was somewhere Cam was finding herself more and more. Radiation abound meant deaths and deaths meant spirits and ghost-types that needed to be put in check. It also meant she was walking into places she shouldn’t have been, if she hadn’t had clearance. Thankfully the Oblivion provided some sort of protection to radiation, despite also being able to feel it.

The energy hits her mask, prompting a small flinch. This place was now ruins but was still rumored to have activity going down in it. This prompted the calling of The Archivist for the potential paranormal activity. 

Unfortunately that wasn’t going to be what she found.

“Alright, lets make this easier on the lot of us.” Her voice is gentle and coaxing, in case she really was dealing with the dead. “You’ve been causing a clamor outside and it needs to be resolved so folks stop worrying. Why not come tell me what’s got you so active.”

A day in Alola just like any other… Bright, sunny, everyone was still oh-so cheerful- so friendly... But, that also meant it was another day for CURIE to get out of the hotel, take care of her newer companion on one of the outer isles.

She checked over everything on her person a couple times over… just to make sure she had what she needed. Her phone, notebook… her own Pokémon just in case something happened… Food. Yes- everything seemed to be in order. A sigh as she slung the bag over her shoulder, looking to Urayne, who was laying on the bed, seemingly asleep.. Admittedly, it was hard to tell, but she wasn’t going to bother them regardless. Without a word, or even making a sound, she turned and left the room. With a click of the door the hotel room was locked, and she made her way outside.

She paid no mind to those she passed on her way out. She had a mission of her own that she had to see through. It was an almost daily thing- and she was… surprised she hadn’t been caught sooner. After all, such a beast gives off quite an energy spike. She knew that there had been plenty of reports- but every time someone approached the source, it was gone in an instant. No one could quite figure out why. But of course, she knew. It was her doing, after all.

Arriving at the water’s edge of the beach, she reached into her bag and retrieved a Pokeball, giving it a light toss. From within, a Gyarados appeared, splashing down into the water. The massive Pokémon looked around for a moment with a low rumble before it lowered its head so that the trainer could hop on, and out to sea they went, leaving the main land behind.

…

And not too long after, that surge of volatile energy ran through the air once more, coming from a smaller island quite a distance away from Akala itself.

It works really well given a pair of it’s definitions; “denoting energy emitted in the form of rays or waves.” “(of a person) clearly emanate (a strong feeling or quality) through their expression or bearing.” Also just because... radiation. Which CURIE and Urayne are well known for using throughout the game.

I like to imagine that during the main story for Uranium, that since CURIE essentially never removes the Interface- aside from like.. eating n stuff probably... I assume the Interface would need to be recharged from time to time- it’s electronic, and I doubt a single charge could last her months on end with 24/7 usage.

So I just imagine her sitting somewhere in Zeta with it plugged in overnight while it’s still on her head like;

A moment of confusion as she cast a glance over her shoulder, taking note of the figure, if only for a moment. How strange- so.. unusual to her. She shifted in her spot, getting up to her feet as she began inching closer to the source.

“Show yourself in full. you have no need to hide here.” She spoke up. Not necessarily the most... friendly response- but then again... CURIE isn’t the nicest person around.

Nucleon

Definitely a Pokemon she’s owned. If anything, CURIE most likely had an Eevee as a partner Pokemon when she was still Lucille. It simply evolved into Nucleon due to its close proximity to Urayne.

Urayne

Honestly not 100% sure- but most likely??? Simply due to the fact it goes into the Atom Ball at the end of the game when the MC obtains them. But I feel it’s a general Pokeball that any of the scientists could have used- no actual owner set. CURIE probably just took it with her after the pair woke up.

Baariette

I’ve always HC’d this one as being stolen. Either obtained during the attack on Epsilon, or Zeta. The radiation turned it feral, and Urayne was really the only way to keep it under control. The Mega Ring was taken off the body of the original trainer.  (Now, I’m not versed too well in anything outside the games, so i’m not sure if someone can just use someone else’s mega ring/bracelet, but it’s a neat thought regardless.)

Xenoqueen

Definitely a wild Pokémon under the control of Urayne. And I’m vibing with the theory that it’s a corrupted version of the Chicoatl line. It was most likely an egg that was being studied, and the original fallout corrupted it. As time passed, it would have hatched into Xenomite.

Another theory I’ve seen did follow the same line of thought. However, Lucille owned the evolved form, Quetzoral, and it corrupted post-stasis, and evolved into Xenoqueen as it didn’t recognize CURIE as the trainer it once had. Essentially bypassing the trade evolution block.

Arbok

A Pokémon you can essentially find in the wild around Zeta, so it is most likely controlled via Urayne, and not owned.

I got around to designing her a lil bit. Either regular ol’ lab outfit, or more casual wear.

Hazma had to lose their outfit while accompanying her on the mainland. Return to nugget.

it's like a rainy day spent inside

when i was young my sister and i would hide under the table right by the big window of my house and cover it with blankets because it was warm and cozy and you could hear the rain pattering against the window--it's one of the few things i miss about my old house. and that's what you are, you're a warm memory, you're a comforting reminder, you're a confidant and a trusted companion. you're you, and though you're sad you're surrounded by people who love you, and maybe, as a temporary source of happiness, that's okay.

CURIE’s got a couple on hand-- and far more buried within her mind that she can’t quite reach. Though, her absolute favorite will forever be her first true contact with Urayne via the Interface. Learning that they were more than just a simple machine made to follow orders. They were alive, had thoughts and feelings of their own.

She remembers spending time after work just to talk with them and teach them about the lands beyond the lab’s walls. That was the start of her desire to keep them safe from people who would want to use them for power and selfish deeds.
