     “it really can’t be that bad,” rapunzel said, not really even being able to wrap her head around saying dumb things being quantified into an average. she was sure there were specific days that had some outliers. that was true for her at least. “and maybe you won’t say any more dub things for the rest of the day?”

     “i wonder where the best place to watch the fireworks would be,” rapunzel wondered out loud, not expecting anyone to answer her, but also wanted some input. “i know ultimately somewhere outside, even if it is cold.” and she was wearing a cooler outfit than she probably would in the winter due to the theme of the gala. “i wonder if it would be out closer to the lake or out by the firepits. maybe watching them while having and making s’mores might be the best way. if it’s a good view.”

‘ i should have burned the place down when i had the chance. ’

      rapunzel blinked a couple times, looking around as if it would give her the answers to the question she was about to ask. “the chance?” she asked, wanting to ask why he’d want to burn it down too, but she had a guess over the answer since he dad was nowhere in sight. “how were you planning on burning it down?” she frowned a little, opening her mouth before closing it, then opening it again. “the last i remember from home everything was okay... is everything okay?” he had his dad back, everything was forgiven, they were friends again. at least as far as she was aware. maybe her memories of home were foggy.

     “you’re queen elsa,” rapunzel said, approaching the blonde. it was strange to recognize someone from her real-life since she’d really only found flynn so far, but she supposed elsa ( and her sister ) had just as much of a chance to end up here as she did. she grinned, what happened while she was in arendelle long behind her ( and she hoped flynn too ). “you might not remember me much, but i’m rapunzel... uh, princess rapunzel of corona. i came to your coronation.”

     it was typical to find paint stained on rapunzel’s fingers, ink she used in her journal rubbed off on her side of her hand. her newly acquired wand was tucked firmly behind her ear as she stayed perched on one of the many moving staircases. she was sure it was a bit frowned upon to spread her painting on the walls beyond her assigned bed area, but she couldn’t help but find inspiration here. this was the closest she felt to corona since remembering, even if it was still far from it.

      she looked up when she noticed a shadow over her journal, quickly scooping up her satchel of supplies. “sorry, i suppose i am a bit in the way,” she said, frowning apologetically. “i was really just trying to capture these stairs, but i suppose the phrase ‘they like to change’ really does that enough.”

     “i know this place is strange, confusing,” rapunzel admitted, smiling. she assumed it was the overall consensus that everything that went on around woodshore was a bit over everyone’s heads. as far as she knew, everyone had no idea what it was all for aside from whoever was behind it. “but i actually find it all a little exciting.”

"cheese? i would recommend the pure goat with blue ash. it has a grassy flavor."

     “grassy?” rapunzel questioned, not having heard that as a good thing in describing cheese before. “i supposed i’d have to try that then. my range for tried cheeses really doesn’t go far. once one summer i managed to make a cheddar and it wasn’t too bad, but i haven’t really tried much besides the basics.”

     “hold on right there one second,” rapunzel said, holding a hand up to stop the person in front of her. she pulled out a sketchbook from her bag and took out the pencil from the spiral. “the background behind you is perfect with your outfit.”

     rapunzel had been on the cusp of figuring out what her real life was for a while now. memories of sun shapes making their way into her art, colorful walls entering her memory, dreams of floating lanterns, but she could never quite place anything coherent whenever she thought of them. not for lack of trying, chasing each thought until she couldn’t any more. it was almost like it all was heading nowhere, like she wasn’t meant to find out anything, her life was just it, no alternative like others had.

     that was until she recognized someone she wouldn’t in her fake life, but felt fated to in every fake life because she loved him in her real one. her face lit up instantly when she spotted him across the way, breaking into a run, calling out, “eugene!” as she approached.

     she jumped up before she had her arms around him as memories of her whole life, but the time with him reaching her first, came back to her. slowly she pulled back enough to look at him, smiling gently still. “hi.”

     rapunzel handed over the headphones when the man had taken them from her. he asked if she’d lost anything and she shrugged, shook her head, shrugged again. “i guess my memories... that’s what i’ve been told i’ve lost, but maybe i should miss them if i don’t remember,” she said, crossing her arms, hugging herself absently. “i know there’s other people around here that are missing a lot more.”
