The 2025 Met Gala, co-chaired by Anna Wintour, Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Colman Domingo, celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute's exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Inspired by Monica Millerโ€™s book โ€œSlaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,โ€ the exhibit focuses on Black style and specifically menswear from the 18th century to present day, with dandyism as a unifying theme. The exhibition is organized into 12 sections, each representing a characteristic that defines dandy style: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook (defined in Zora Neale Hurstonโ€™s โ€œCharacteristics of Negro Expressionโ€โ€”an important reference for the exhibitonโ€”as a space for dancing, drinking, and other leisure activities), Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism. โ€œSuperfineโ€ will feature garments, paintings, photographs, and more from artists including Torkwase Dyson, Tanda Francis, Andrรฉ Grenard Matswa, and Tyler Mitchellโ€”all exploring the indelible style of Black dandies, from the 18th century through to the present day. The 2025 Met Gala also has a host committee, made up of Andrรฉ 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Jeremy O. Harris, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Rashid Johnson, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monรกe, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese, Sha'Carri Richardson, Tyla, Usher, and Kara Walker. The Met Gala 2025 dress code is โ€œTailored for You,โ€ a nod to the exhibitionโ€™s focus on menswear and suiting thatโ€™s sure to bring out the sartorial creativity of this yearโ€™s attendees.

Poor Madame de Garderobe. The chest of drawers-come-to-life (voiced by Audra McDonald) is blissfully stuck in Disney-past while trying to dress Belle (Emma Watson) of Disney-future. Pulling out pink sashes and a giant hoop skirt, the trappings of gentile ladies in 18th century France, she misses the sartorial mark.
"Finally, a woman!" she proclaims. "I will find you something worthy of a princess."
โ€œOh, Iโ€™m not a princess,โ€ Belle retorts.
Welcome to the future, where Disney princesses, er, heroines are not confined to a certain set of beauty standards. Save the requirement for large, doe-eyes. That's not going anywhere.

Emma Watson Goes Full Belle in a Yellow Ballgown for a Beauty and the Beast Event
New Post has been published on http://kennywadehiphop.com/2017/03/14/emma-watson-goes-full-belle-in-a-yellow-ballgown-for-a-beauty-and-the-beast-event/
Emma Watson Goes Full Belle in a Yellow Ballgown for a Beauty and the Beast Event
Jamie McCarthy/Getty
Emma Watson has looked undeniably spectacular throughout her entireย Beauty and the Beastย press tour, but sheโ€™s also gone decidedly sleek and minimalist (in addition to eco-friendly), denying us the one thing weย truly want: a major princess moment, like the oneย Cinderellaโ€™s Lily James gave us for the filmโ€™s L.A. premiere.
Luckily, the latest Disney princess is in the business of making dreams come true. She attended an event at N.Y.C.โ€™s Lincoln Center to talk to kids about her favorite subject (and Belleโ€™s!): books. And she gave the kids a glimpse of that Disney magic, wearing a yellow Dior Haute Couture gown with a sweeping full skirt and draped neck that recalled the one (you know the one) in the film.

That night, the actress unrang that particular Belle for the filmโ€™sย Monday premiere, going back to her preferred dark color palette and streamlined styles for the movieโ€™s big events.ย Her black gown featured sheer paneling and pleated detailing along the bodice for a mix of texture with an added bonus of a sexy slit.

And if it wasnโ€™t glamorous enough, Watson amplified the dramatic lookย with a bold red lip โ€“ likely one of the green brands she recently raved about.
Also in attendance at the premiere were otherย stars of Disneyโ€™s live-action adaptation, includingย Dan Stevens (wearing Givenchy), Audra McDonald, Sir Ian McKellen and Josh Gad.

Before the eveningโ€™sย event, Watson previewed the new Beauty and the Beastcapsule collection with British designer Christopher Kane.
Following the lead of Watsonโ€™s eco-friendly sartorial choices,ย the range consists of 40ย piecesย validated under the GCC Principles of Sustainable Excellence, meaning it was ethically sourced using resources wisely to protect the planet.
The enchanted rose plays a pivotal roleย and was even developed into a photographic organza appliquรฉย surrounded by a Swarovski crystal glow.
The collectionย hits select stores and online March 16, one day before the live-action Beauty and the Beast comes to the big screen. (And if youโ€™re in the mood to shopย Beauty and the Beast merch, weโ€™ve got plenty of it here.)
Letโ€™s block ads! (Why?)

A Spectacular Evening
You know what I love? A good fundraiser event. You know what I love even more? When the fundraiser is for the Cabaret. I know. I know. Iโ€™m fixated on the Cabaret. But it really and truly is that good.
I believe this is the fourth year weโ€™ve attended the Cabaretโ€™s annual fundraiser gala extravaganza extraordinaire. Itโ€™s an excuse to put on a suit, tie a Windsor knot and shine the dress shoes. We just donโ€™t get dressed up all that often. But more than the sartorial fanciness, the event is incredible each year. Itโ€™s a very special one-night-only kind of thing. A pretty big name or in 2017โ€ฆnames. Tony nominees or winners in every event weโ€™ve attended. But you can basically expect nothing less by the talent the Cabaret brings to Indianapolis.
Historically, thereโ€™s always been a silent auction and we are big fans of silent auctions. I like to bid. To wander around the table. To bid up someone then slip away. To try and surreptitiously sneak in a bid in the final second to win a special item. We almost always win an item or two at the Cabaretโ€™s auction. But this year they decided to go a different route. Instead of having a silent auction, there would be a live auction of pretty significant items. Tickets to Hamilton in Chicago. Tickets to Dear Evan Hanson on Broadway. Tickets to the Tonyโ€™s. That item in particular was set up as the BIG kahuna. But then right at the end the auctioneer, Zan Aufderheide, pulled a quick one to say that there were actually TWO sets of two tickets so the top two bidders ending up getting to go. Boom! Big bucks for the Cabaret.
Then there was an item that started at $100. If you were the last bidder in at $100, you got the item which included two tickets to see Audra McDonald with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra among a number of other very nice items. That went on for quite a while with people sneaking in at the last minute but what a creative way to get smaller donations. But you were in for another $100 every time you bid. Very clever and effective to be sure.
The capital campaign was awesome. Zan basically started at $5,000 and asked for bids. Then $2,500, then $1,000, then $500 and then $250. If you raised your bid card, you were in for that amount for your donation. Brilliant. I will freely admit I got swept up in the momentโ€ฆ.I love to bid at auctions. Thus the Cabaret benefits.
This year the Cabaret gave a spotlight performance to an absolutely delightful college student who has long been a fan, usher and educational performer at the Cabaret. Her name is Morgan Anita Wood and this girl is going place. She sang two songs that kicked off the performances in a special way. We love that the Cabaret allows for young, local talent to showcase themselves in front of an audience, in front of professional performers. Itโ€™s a great learning opportunity for them but the audience eats it up with a spoon.
This yearโ€™s main event was Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley. Theyโ€™ve had a long association with one another that dates back to when they performed as conjoined twins in Side Show. A Broadway show that has a wonderful score but was tough to market. How do you sell conjoined twins as side show circus acts? Not easily, it turns out. Effectively the show ended up being a bit of flop but has developed a big cult following. Through all of that, it made Emily and Alice stars. So they tour together with a show called โ€œUnattachedโ€. They sing together. They sing separately. They sing a couple of songs from Side Show. Their moments together are powerful. Their separate moments showcase their individual talents. Each of them really got to shine. Alice would make an amazing โ€œSallyโ€ in Follies while Emily would indeed be perfect for โ€œPhyllisโ€. They have great banter, good jokes and a very effortless rapport with one another that can only come from being comfortable on the stage together. Itโ€™s a very natural chemistry and the audience could tell as the response after each song was pretty thunderous. But none more thunderous than when Alice sang โ€œAs If We Never Said Goodbyeโ€ from Sunset Boulevard. I was a basket case. I nearly jumped out of my seat. Juan almost had to quiet me because I was about to shout out during the performance in a display of demonstrative excitement.
Folks, youโ€™ve got one more chance this year. The Christmas show with Jane Lynch is in a few weeks. There are tickets left. Itโ€™s also the last time the Cabaret will be at Indiana Landmarks. The site is gorgeous and itโ€™s been a terrific temporary home but next year marks the beginning of the Cabaretโ€™s independent life and home at the Metzger Building. Donโ€™t fret. Iโ€™ll still be hounding people to attend shows next year but this is your last chance in 2017.
Do it for me. Lest Santa leave you a lump of coal in your stocking. Or whatever being you believe in that brings presents this time of year. The Cabaret is inclusive. And so am I.

Kelly Rowland In Audra โ€“ โ€˜I Am Not Your Negroโ€™ Premiere
Kelly Rowland attended the premiere of โ€˜I Am Not Your Negroโ€™ at LACMA on Thursday (January 12) in LA. The thing about statement coats is that they can either leave you wishing for them to come off immediately, or they can cause you to completely forget about whatโ€™s underneath by virtue of their sartorial power.
