Something about the ghost father from the urban legends arc refusing to hurt the clients, "especially not in front of my child", the way Dimple yells to Shigeo to close his eyes, to not look when faced by the unbearable horrors, and also when Dimple used the last of his powers to bend reality & not let Shigeo see him hurting, and making him forget everything afterwards, simply to protect his heart & his mind. Smthing abt the way Reigen declined doing anything against Toichiro because "my student is watching, he might try it too" and he can't let that happen, he can't subject his student (his responsibility, someone he cares about, a young boy) to violence or horror or anything that'd scar him mentally. smthing abt the way Shou turned out the way he is because no one around him cared enough like Dimple & Reigen, smthing abt Shou having to watch his father walk into death doors too many times, something about sacrifice, about father & son, guardian & child...

something something the manga letting the audience know of Shou's thought process of how he is constantly placing himself in the danger / hero's position and always ending up placing the responsibility upon himself, and the way he displays relentless selflessness in doing the greater good despite being so clearly terrified all the time, and and and how his way of thinking hasn't changed until literally the gd last arc in the manga, cuz really who's gonna tell him what Reigen told Shigeo??? I'm just forever sick and insane over the stark difference between Shigeo who grew up with healthy adults teaching him & helping him through the struggles of life vs Shou who's been surrounded by questionable Claw people all his life & a father who told him he should've fucking assassinated him when he had the chance. caps ahead in the tags.

There's something about the oddness of their interactions that make these two my absolute favorite duo, oh one of them beat the shit out of the other in their first meeting? some house fire involved? the way Ritsu doesn't question things twice when Shou gets him on his side, it's so insane in a way, insane in the "teenager with a life worth of trauma baggage" way, and I'm living for it. They just clicked, understood each other, made such a great team and what they've achieved is so impressive considering how young they are, how difficult it all was.
Shou is just so relieved to not only have someone he could connect with- but also rely upon? It's always been so rare in his world to meet someone who would be willing to have his back and carry the weight with him, and it's especially different from those who were simply ordered to. Ritsu believed in Shou wholeheartedly, and that meant the world to him, it meant so much i cant express this ENOUGH. That's his friend that's HIS PERSON and Shou is so happy to have met him???? Ritsu is such an intelligent and resourceful boy, he is also so loyal and sincere towards those he cares about, and Shou actually admires him a lot for these things, he takes pride in calling Ritsu his friend!
I believe they're both not so good at this whole friendship thing, with Ritsu being his reserved self and Shou finally having time for friends in his life, but they're trying and it's so nice and heartwarming to see how they help each heal and truly live, they deserve to have fun and be silly and get free from all the shakles of fear and pain that came with psychic powers being in their lives.

thinking abt how shou spent his whole life seeing and acknowledging wrong deeds despite all the terrible influence, thinking abt how he understood the world better than so many delusional adults including his own father, thinking abt how he experienced hardships as much as said delusional adults claimed to have- yet remained undaunted and relentless about doing the right thing, thinking abt how terrified he was but he didn't want to be a coward like everyone around him so he ended up making the whole thing HIS responsibility, thinking abt how he wouldn't have moved an inch from that explosion had it not been for Kageyama brothers ( shige in manga, ritsu in anime ) because he was supposed to "save" his dad and he wouldn't favor the idea of a life as an orphan so why even brother
thinking abt how Shou is the closest a mp100 character got to experiencing loss & grief TWICE. and is still living with that horrible sense of anticipation that smthing might suddenly happen to his dad and he's being very brave about it ...

It's so funny to me how the fanbase has long since collectively decided that Shou is the gremlin who crawls through Ritsu's window to meet him whenever, and everyone seems to forget that Ritsu was the only one to ever break into someone's house through their window. And when Shou first visited him? He rang the bell at the front door.

In my canon, Shou deals w/ too many issues after Claw goes down, including but not limited tO:
- Legal baggage, court witnessing, interrogations, several meetings w/ government workers & sometimes even struggles to prove himself innocent. It plays into his luck that he's a minor.
- Housing & social issues, he gets assigned a social worker & has to sort out his life, protest against moving out from his home cuz he's not ready, and have his mother attend many hours of paperwork to properly become his legal guardian.
- School. SCHOOL. He hasn't received education in nearly 3 years, and would start middle school a few months after settling with his mother. ( which means he would be one year behind ). Very new & insane experience for him.
- The parts of Claw which hasn't given up yet and just pop into existence every few months, sometimes even going after him cause he's technically the reason they've lost everything. Most of the time they aren't much of a problem, they're mostly weak, or are they?
- Emotional baggage. Restlessness. CONFUSION. My guy has spent his whole life just grinding to beat up his dad and bring him to his senses. He grew up in a terrorist organization, he doesn't know how to just fucking LIVE. His whole purpose for living is gone & not only that but he failed MISERABLY at it. now what? NOW WHAT. The bad guys were defeated but by no means does he feel well like a good guy should feel.
