kevin & fame.

unlike ben and gwen, who are easily connected by their familial relationship, it’s a lot harder for people to connect that “mullet guy” to “kevin levin”, especially since kevin doesn’t go to school and spends about half of his free time off-world. it was only by pure luck that a girl, who was forced by her mother to go to a mechanic to get her car’s oil change, managed to recognise kevin and find out his name by calmly asking kevin’s boss. she then, of course, took it to social media, and, honestly, kevin’s day-to-day life hasn’t changed much.

in regards to his job at the auto shop, there were a few customers that either stopped going to the auto shop or specifically requested kevin not to work on their cars ( and/or requested that his boss terminate kevin’s job ), but there were also an influx of people who would go to the auto shop and get their car fixed there because kevin was there. since it’s easy to tell who is ACTUALLY there for their car and who is just there for kevin, the auto shop doesn’t tend to get too crazy.

as for his fellow employees, none of them actually have a problem with kevin. some will joke about alien conspiracies to him, but all of them are just happy that kevin’s out there and kicking ass. his boss, in particular, tends to be extremely proud of him and very understanding of kevin’s situation and of the whole thing ( but kevin also told him ahead of time about him and his work ).

also, since kevin is actually pretty good at losing tails and spotting people who is watching him, no fans have found his storage unit yet ( where he does sometimes sleep when he gets into an argument with harvey ( or just plain want to avoid him ) and/or lose track of time working on his car ). however, as his car is very noticeable, sometimes when he’s parked on the street or in parking lots to go get stuff, fans might crowd his car and trying to take pictures of it and/or him. kevin’s mostly annoyed with it because a) they touched his car, b) they TOUCHED his CAR, and c) THEY TOUCHED HIS CAR.

thankfully, kevin hasn’t actually killed someone over this kind of stuff, but he has dangerously driven off even when people are attempting to clamour over his car.

he does have quite a lot of fans, especially teenaged girls, because he’s like that one character from an anime or a drama that’s “dark, mysterious, kind of mean but is probably secretly kind”, and he’s also kind of that “ruggedly handsome” in a weird way i guess idk it’s more clear in his rl fc i chose for him so that “helps” with his popularity, and it’s honestly a good thing he doesn’t have social media. the general public, however, definitely knows benand gwen better than they know him.

misc. kevin headcanons.

what was kevin’s first heartbreak?

when Kevin was fifteen, he was pulling a job with a girl that involved having the two of them pretend to be in a relationship. well, he got too deep into it, and she let him, and then they pulled the job together, but the girl double-crossed him and got away with the entire score.

three habits that they have.

cracking his knuckles and his neck, wiping down his car, and taking out his mother to lunch every sunday afternoon.

after ultimate kevin.

kevin just avoids touching ben or gwen for a while, and flinches slightly at the sight of any electricity or energy because he doesn’t want to become that monster again – he doesn’t want to hurt ben or gwen or anyone else like that ever again. his self-doubt and his belief that he is a monster for a long while ( he had thought he had stopped being a monster, but the monster is still inside of him, waiting to be unleashed, waiting to kill and hunt and make people bleed ). however, he pretends he’s okay: grinning, making fun of ben with gwen, hanging out with them, but he’s not okay ( he’s scared of himself, of what he could do to other people, and that’s never going to go away ).

team ten sparring.

all three of them definitely spar with each other, there’s no doubt about that. however, since they all tend to be rather competitive, sometimes it ends up to be less sparring and more rough-housing. when they spar, they do tend to use powers, but they don’t tend to use their more stronger moves. occasionally, they’ll spar with no powers, and it usually tends to be a toss-up between kevin and gwen. they’ll also teach each other some moves: gwen has training in tae kwon do, karate, judo, while kevin knows some mixed martial arts and a bit of other fighting styles from his time on the streets and in the null void. they also try out new moves on each other, either in a free-for-all or in a 2 v. 1 situation. they try to mix up their sparring as much as possible.

do they dream? what are their dreams like?

kevin does dream, but he doesn’t remember a lot of them. however, the dreams that he does remember are his nightmares, usually of the bad stuff that’s happened to him, but also of bad stuff that could have happened ( ben and gwen dying, for one ). he does have one re-occurring dream that happens quite frequently, where everyone he knows tries to kill him and insult him ( including ben and gwen ). if he dreams happy dreams or even just plain weird dreams, he doesn’t really remember those.

kevin and video games.

aside from when he was living on his own in new york city, kevin’s never really played much video games ( and, even then, it was more about trying to relieve his boredom for a few moments rather than actually enjoying the video games themselves ). there wasn’t exactly a lot of video games in the null void, and when he got out, he spent most of his “free time” trying to pull some cash or worked on his car, or anything really associated with that.

the person who really dragged him back into video games was gwen, since she tends to be a fan of games that allows people to work together ( ben pushed kevin to play the sumo slammers’ fighting game with him, but that never really interested him, since ben usually took the time to rant about sumo slammers, which kevin doesn’t really care about ), so she usually drags both kevin and ben ( and others ) to play video games with her. he usually won’t go out for one himself, but he’ll play with the cousins when he doesn’t mind taking a break from his car or his work.

kevin and drug dealing / drugs.

one thing about my kevin ; as much shit as he did while he was still a criminal, he never pushed ACTUAL drugs ( alien or otherwise ) and never took any either. he also hated the lack of control alcohol gave him, so he doesn’t tend to drink much ( or at all ) either. after all, when he was in the null void, he went through some SERIOUS withdrawal symptoms –his drug of choice, as a young kid, was energy ( which is like a drug to osmosians ANDcauses them to go insane ), and he knows that all it’ll take is one misstep, one relapse, and he’ll go back to insanity and killing people and not giving a shit. it already did happen, in ultimate alien, and, even now, past that, sometimes his fingers twitch when he sees aspark of energy or electricity, wondering how it would FEEL and taste. he’s honestlySCARED of losing his sanity again ( he’ll do it if he needs to, as he showed in ultimate alien, but… if he can help it… ), and so he tries to get away from anything that could be addicting.

kevin and how he is about being touched.

kevin is NOT really great at being touched first – he’d rather touch other people than be touched – unless it is by someone he trusts. even then, it can’t be from behind or out of his line of sight, or he’ll tense up and/or might even react violently depending on how guard he is. this is due from his time in the null void when prisoners would often times attack one another in order to try to one-up each other and become leaders, or just because they were bored and wanted to have a good time beating up people.

after a few years being around gwen and ben, kevin is more open to touching, but really only from the tennyson family ( like gwen, ben, and max ). however, despite his rather touch aversion, he loves hugs and loves cuddles, but he’ll never admit to it ( or, not when ben could hear him ).

kevin and how easily he makes friends.

not very, lmao. he can make contacts rather easily, and he tends to be a rather charismatic person when he wants to be, but it is very rare that he actually makes friends that he is close to and would share things with. he really only has two friends, gwen and ben, ( as argit is more of a “kind of friend, kind of enemy, depending on the day” ), and he really doesn’t share many emotions with ben either. gwen gets the majority of it because she judges less ( well, judges less in regards to kevin having and talking about his emotions ).

kevin and what really scares him.

definitely being alone, especially if it’s because of his “monster” qualities. he doesn’t like being alone – hates it – but he’d rather close himself off and never get close to anyone so that he doesn’t face rejection for being a monster. it’s why his form change bothered him so much – he believed that gwen and ben would abandon him after he turned into what he perceived as a monster, not because he thinks that gwen and ben are bad people but because his low self-esteem and frequent childhood bursts of insanity meant that his mind had been twisted enough to think that unless he’s “normal”, everyone would hate him, and so his mind twists itself into pretzels and he believes he’ll never be loved.

when using his powers, does he ever have to take a break? how much does he eat if he uses his powers too much?

kevin’s powers is quite like any body action that one can do – the more he uses it, the more energy he wastes. when he makes his body have a surface level of material that he absorbs and just stands, it’s like standing still for regular people. When he walks with the material on the surface level, it’s like walking for regular people ( even if an entire body coating of stone / material or whatever would be too heavy for “normal” people ). same for when he runs and/or fights, etc. his powers themselves are not exhausting in and of itself because his powers are a part of his body composition. thus, he would eat about as much as a regular person does when they run too much or expend too much physical activity.
