Just some notes on my version of Mei.shan Y.u:

Little facts: —The Y.u Sect turned down the offer to send disciples to Gu.su. Y.u Huian was once a classmate of La.n Qi.ren once upon a time. She didn’t like him then and she certainly doesn’t like him now, nor how Gu.su’s three thousand rules have become more strict and enforced under his reign. She refuses to send her disciples to a place where they will be split between genders to learn and where the boys’ education is seemingly more important than the girls’.

—Because of Y.u Yanmei’s marriage to W.en Xu, the Y.u Sect was harassed far less than the other sects during We.n Ruo.han’s reign of terror. While the Y.u Sect were still forced to send disciples, their disciples were not in the hands of We.n Chao, rather set up in a class like setting with We.n disciples. However, when things began to go downhill, Y.u Yanmei sent the disciples home.

—The Y.u Sect truly are the unseen snake in the grass; hidden by the flowers. They weave their way into every sect through marriage, carefully selecting high ranking men of the sect to marry their daughters to. An unseen power, they have dipped their fingers into every pot without notice. 

—There is one other major family within the Y.u Sect: The Xia Family. The original leader of the Yu Sect was a woman of the Y.u Family, married to a man of the Xia Family. This was in the very beginning, before children of Y.u women began to take their mothers’ Y.u surname. Thus, the Xia Family holds a very important place within the Y.u Sect. Y.u Daiyu is a direct descendant of Xia Caihong, the Silver Snake whom became a God. The Xia Family is known for the rare trait that pops up now and again in the Y.u Sect: white blond hair.

Legend of the Silver Snake:

Xia Caihong was the oldest daughter of the very first Sect Leader of Mei.shan Y.u— Y.u She. By the time Caihong was born, the sect was growing and bustling. She grew up among the mountains at Serpent’s Peak, their sect’s home. She was a bright child, picking up on cultivating easily.

When Caihong turned twenty, an incredibly powerful storm terrorized the region and threatened to wipe out the newly established sect. However, Caihong led her sect to a system of caves she found whilst exploring as a child. While the storm raged, Caihong regularly led missions to gather food and water for the sect.

It was during this time that she ascended as the Lightning Master. The first spiritual weapon she forged was Zi.dian. Instead of keeping it, however, she gifted it to her mother to pass down through the generations, to be given to those in the family most capable of wielding it. The second spiritual weapon she forged was the Lightning Master Whip that she keeps on her belt.

Daiyu’s position within the Yu Sect and within the Yu Family is special. With the marriage of Daiyu’s mother, who is of the Xia family, and his father, who is of course a Yu, it brought together the two main families of the sect and joined together again the bloodlines that have long since been separated.

However happy both his parents and his aunts are at his birth, and do adore him, there’s one glaring “flaw”— he wasn’t born female. Had he been born female, it’s likely that instead of the role of sect leader being passed down to the sect leader’s oldest daughter, it would have been passed to him.

He also has a mane of shocking white blond hair, a trait that tends to only pop up every so often in the members of the Xia family. When he was younger, he was a little self conscious of it, though as he grows he begins to wear it as a badge of pride.

Though his “main” verse has him being appointed to the Heavens during Sunshot, I definitely want to explore more verses where he remains a cultivator— and a thorn in the side of the Old Guard of cultivators, as it were, with his opinions and arrogance.

Right now, I only have the very basics of two cultivator/m.dzs verses: 1) where he dabbles in rudimentary and theoretical demonic cultivation based on the questions and statements wwx expressed in the gusu high school arc during Sunshot to try and save himself and the disciples under his care. Later he’ll get more curious about it and do more than just dabble.

2) where he survives Sunshot by the skin of his teeth and is blessed to be given a powerful spiritual weapon. He becomes Meishan Yu’s rising sect leader’s right hand and is often sent in his aunt and cousin’s stead, because men are garbage and don’t like to listen to women when they speak, and for Meishan to have a seat at the table, so to say.
