[A few weeks later, everyone is hanging out at Ruby's home once more. Cerrin's wounds have healed enough to that he can move his arm a bit more... But, another problem has begun to plague him.]

"Ugh, really?"

[His phone is sending him alerts nonstop, to the point where he can barely scroll through his Squidder feed for five seconds without one popping up. He groans and dismisses the alerts, before blocking the number they're coming from.]

"Let me guess: It's our parents again."

"Yeah. I don't know how they even got either of our numbers, or the cash to keep buying burner phones to harass us with, but they just won't stop..."

"I get the feeling..."

"...Well, maybe not the exact feeling, but I know what it's like to be constantly bothered by parents you want nothing to do with."

"With how relentless they've been, I'm worried they'll come here or to my apartment again and try something..."

"What could they possibly have to say that they haven't already?"

"Oh, you know, just threats, telling me what a disgrace and failure I am, ultimatums..."

"...Lying about how ""proud"" they were of me before I left, making demands, more threats..."

"Talk about the works..."

"Cod... What makes them think any of that's okay?"

"My bet's on the fact that they just don't care."

[Ruby, who has been silent this whole time, finally decides to speak, putting her phone down on the arm of the couch before she looks toward the others.]

"Y'know... My dad said he found some dirt on them in the files Koa sent over."

"...What kind of dirt?"

"He didn't say, but from what I can gather it's something big. I think he's planning something."

"That's... concerning..."

"I hope he doesn't intend to confront them... I don't want him to put himself in danger for us."

"I don't know what he’s gonna do. But he seems confident in whatever he has up his sleeve..."

Míriel doesn’t tend to lie – unless absolutely necessary. But it is more or less white lies – nothing that would cause another hurt. While she that gives tough love and makes you read between the lines when she tells you things – she had no intention of bring forth lies that causes you heartache.

😶 for a headcanon about a secret they know of / keep:

Oh, Míriel knows plenty too many secrets of Vairë and Mandos. Vairë and Míriel does tend to gossip just a bit (especially of Mandos and Finwë) but it very subtle – they act very lady-like but put these two alone for a few minutes the things you will hear are shocking.

So, uh... I stated over on the Xitter how I wanted to go on a Dissidia (personal story/fanfic - yes, it includes OCs and original material. This is Ashe writing this, after all) tangent so badly, but hate fighting with text limitations with these sorts of things, so here I am, hopping over to Tumblr to go on said tangent. 🕺

(Tangent placed beneath a cut. Proceed with caution! Maybe.)

⚠️ Disclaimer for those who have played the game: I'm still experiencing the game. I'm not going to know everything. I just can't help but feel the inspiration blaze through me at certain points throughout the Dissidia OO experience, which compels my mind to take off with thoughts galore (whether or not I want it to. I can't control this brain of mine; it's like a wild animal sometimes, trust me!) I am inspired af, but please keep in mind I could be incorrect about certain bits of lore and still have a lot to experience - and I am fully aware of that even in writing this out.

Also, no spoilers. NONE. Furnish me with the informations only if I ask. If I'm wrong about something, I promise I'll concede that when I later find out about it. For now, this is just me having fun. Let me have fun. I'm just getting all these thoughts out of my head before they drive me crazy...! Hahaha!

Anyway, sorry. That disclaimer may or may not be longer than the tangent itself. Onto the actual tangent!

So...! 🤔 Given how there's a tiny bit of "wibbly wobbly timey whimey" stuff going on with how characters are brought in, if you will, I can't help but to think about some wacky situations that may make for some neat story potential…

I'm going to start with the more "conservative" thoughts. Thoughts on characters from the same world being pulled in from different parts of their own respective timeline, so you have different sections of experiences and memories to play with.

Particularly (spoilers): Sal experienced the deaths of some particular characters who are not only alive, but they were brought in from a time where they had not died. She has a lot of memories about them that they have yet to experience.

When all of this is over, she's going to return to a world where they're no longer alive. And she has that good ol' fun time looming over her. : )

Which, as tragic as that is, I do dig that kind of narrative - I mean, to boot: I dig it, but I started realizing that it was one I'd worked with before, even... it was one she experienced in The Anomaly (FFVII x Original fanfic.) Of course, the moment I realized that, I was like "how original, Ashe. Good. Guess we'll do this song and dance again because you can't resist it, clearly." Haha!

BUT... it was then that I had the less "conservative" thoughts... Namely: since all this "wibbly wobbly timey whimey" stuff is happening anyway, what if... I didn't just inject Starlight (FFIX x Original) material in this, but also injected The Anomaly material? What if both of those stories were allowed some agency in this?

And by extension, what if the Sal (the Sal, you read that correctly) that is brought in has only experienced one of those stories (Starlight, because I'm biased at this time) while the characters from the other story (The Anomaly) experienced a different version of her than what is present? They met her (some rendition of her.) She never met them (that version of her never did.)

Again, reminder: Sal is a world hopper. For her to be part of any given FF world in this type of FF scenario is really just a matter of chance. Technically speaking, she has experienced at least two of those worlds - in different timelines, but given that there is only one Sal present... I was utterly delighted by the oddity of just picking one rendition of her to have amidst the wild and random chance that the renditions of the FFIX and FFVII worlds/characters have characters that both experienced her and didn't.

It's so weird and self indulgent on my part, I know. I get it. (It's also my own little Dissidia-esque excuse for being able to include some FFVII OCs and story beats from various perspectives, haha!) I literally cannot resist thinking about it in all of its weird and self indulgent glory, though. I cannot be stopped. 🥴

Even if I don't use the idea, I'm still going to think about it, you know? And talk about it too, apparently. Haha!

All of that being said, though, I have entertained the thought of Sal's actual "world" (the original one - not just her inclusion in fanfics) being included in Dissidia as well. This would include characters like Nat, Tsuniah and, well, Vance. This guy.

I'd talk more about what makes the inclusion of Vance and different timelines + funky memory loss stuff going on especially fascinating (to me) here, but it really... wouldn't make sense to the rest of you. It's all original stuff; story I know and have yet to tell the rest of the world, so... yeah. 🥲 But there's potential in that too that I'd love to play around with!

In that respect, between the Dissidia shenanigans and Fall To The Moon ones, should I ever actually manage to write out some story stuff for them, I may yet instill some intrigue in regards to who he is along with these other OCs of mine. Create my own Dissidia effect - basically, compel people to want to get to know them outside of AUs and fanfics (because Dissidia OO makes me want to get to know characters I have yet to get to know, let me tell you. Haha!)

3. What foods does she love that you hate and vice versa?

Hmmm... I think she's the type to really like caramelized or sautéed veggies 🤔 which are the kind of thing I can't really eat for arfid reasons wahah. As for me I love baked goods which I don't think she'd be all that much a fan of nldgnlsln

5. Do you stash snacks for each other? What kind?

ALWAYS ! Imagining in a modern setting us having some sort of comfort snack tub or basket... It's not something I go into a lot but something that brings me a lot of comfort is imagining my f/os understanding or even relating to my food insecurities and Cass is one that see being able to relate even if she doesn't know exactly where that came from. The idea of us having a shared "storage" of small things we know we'll be able to eat and not judging each other for needing that type of security makes me really soft. As for what types? I'm thinking a lot of salty stuff :} I love salty snacks like chips, nuts, pretzels, popcorn, etc and I think she'd be similar though perhaps with some flavoring like instinct tells me she'd like bbq flavored snacks?

9. Do you have nicknames for each other?

Of course!! I think I made a post about some of my f/os nicknames for me and Cass was on the list! One of the standouts is the idea of her calling me 'little butterfly'........... as for her I think about calling her 'jewel/my jewel' a lot....

14. What are your thoughts on each others profession? Do you visit each other at work?

Oh this is so cute actually. So my s/i is actually a trinkets maker and seller in Corona! They actually fell for Cass when she was out on Lady-in-Waiting duty with Rapunzel and the princess wanted to stop by their shop! This song and dance of watching each other from afar went on for MONTHS before either of them properly spoke outside of work wahah. My s/i thinks Cass being a part of the royal guard is SO cool and thinks her working personally beside Rapunzel is even cooler if not a bit out of their league dnlksknld. And at first Cass thought the stuff they made was a little unnecessary, though she had to admit it was impressive, but nowadays she's one of their first customers on any new products! They visit one another all the time and despite everyone in the kingdom knowing the two are together they always sneak away giggling like schoolgirls during shifts for lunch or after work to watch the sunset together.

18. What's one moment in your relationship where she changed your perspective of yourself and vice versa?

OKAY SO. SO. For both of us this focuses on the events with the Moonstone. For me it was absolutely when she had snuck back into the kingdom and was disguised as Rapunzels new Lady-in-Waiting and she was starting to feel like and act like her old self. ESPECIALLY after the reveal it was her my s/i was one of the few people trying to vouch for Cassandra. In my canon my s/i actually follows Cassandra out of the kingdom trying to calm her down and help her. For Cassandra it was right after the fight with Zhan Tiri and Cass was brought back from death. Easy to say my s/i was DISTRAUGHT and they have a really tender moment where Cass assures them that she's okay and Zhan Tiri's gone and things were going to be alright. That moment really solidified in Cassandra how much she had put at stake for someone she hesitated ever call her mother just because someone was whispering futures of granger and recognition in her ear.

it is so, so loud. everyone around you is talking, crowded together. despite how loud it is, you cannot hear them, even when they talk to you. you try to talk to them, but you can't hear their responses. you take this as no response at all. it feels lonely, and dark, despite you all sitting in the sun together, and everyone's having a great time except you. you keep trying to get their attention, and when you do, it never feels like enough. you can't keep doing more. it's tiring. you see yourself floating in space, it's cold, and dark. they're still down on earth, laughing, so loud. you desire to be seen right now. you feel unappreciated, you feel left out.

Call it coping, but I'm trying so hard to see modern (edgelord) Shadow as the same character even though he's such a flanderization. I just imagine he's putting on a mask to be insufferable on purpose in order to keep his distance with others.

Magical Ability: Perhaps none - but I hc her as becoming a disciple to Vaire (as she probably cannot become a maia), she is able to see a little into the future and weave it into tapestries (only from the line of Finwë), but obviously not as much as Vaire.

Types of Clothes: Gowns/dresses mostly made of velvet and unique colors like turquoise. Flowy dresses that are made to easy to move in and sat for her to sew.

Mannerisms: Míriel is an expert at hiding her emotions - however she does give a proud smile and give sharp nods a lot once acquainted. She is a kind person with tough love, her affections are carried mostly through her actions and acts of service. After becoming a disciple sometimes she likes to speak in riddles.

What words or phrases do they over use: “By my lady Vairë” or “There is nothing I can do. . .only weave it.”

Are they more optimistic or pessimistic: Optimistic in Valinor, pessimistic in the Halls of Mandos at first but grew optimistic again when she realized she could weave the the deeds of her family. But pessimistic again when Fëanáro creates and commits to the oath and all events that followed - she was in depression for a long time until her sons and grandchildren regretted and served their punishments.

Love Language: Acts of service, quality time and physical touch.

Strongest Character Trait: Her abilities as a weaver and the expertness to hid her emotions.

Weakest Character Trait: Can be stubborn sometimes - but in her own calm way without having to raise her voice.

Greatest Fear: Morgoth winning - and Fëanáro at one stage.

If they could change one thing about themselves: To be able to do something when she weaves in a misfortune in the line of Finwë - she is only just a weaver and cannot prevent fate, but she wishes to change it or fix it.

EXTRA NOTES:

Later when Míriel becomes the handmaid of Vairë — they're bonding over the art of sowing — and became very close friends. Neither talk much; small smiles shared — but sometimes becomes each others words of advise and wisdom. Míriel then becomes the disciple of Vairë.

Míriel would be in two minds about seeing – heartbroken seeing her little flame has become someone as dangerous as Morgoth, that would scare her. She might refuse to meet him a few times as first – but would him from afar without him knowing.

Then, seeing how he acts in the halls of Mandos and if he regrets his actions and ready take his punishments, then she would be more willing to see and talk to him. Definitely a few awkward meetings at first – she would not know what to say and probably maintain a distance as much as it hurts her too. Then, slowly warm up go him seeing him grieve for his own sons.
