"Our Planet" 2021, 1920x1080 mp4, 12 seconds loop animation I am very happy to share my new work "Our Planet" that I created for Earth Day. I grew up in Japan, a country that has been plagued by some of the world's most devastating natural disasters, so I am perhaps more sensitive to the increasing damage that has occurred over the past few decades. Typhoons and Tsunamis continue to wreak havoc year after year. When I visited the Venice Biennale for the first time in 2019, I was shocked to see that the water level has been steadily rising due to the global warming. The square in front of St Mark's Basilica, as a best famous sightseeing spot there, is knee-deep in water until the tide recedes in the afternoon. Last week, in preparation for Earth Day, Google Earth added a feature that allows you to view satellite images from 1984 to 2020 in a time-lapse format, and a video introducing the feature was released. The reality may be much harsher than we imagine. The greenery is diminishing, the lakes are drying up, the ice is melting, and the water level keeps rising. I don't think one artist can make a big difference, but I hope this visual presentation of a polar bear that seems to be stranded on the earth will serve as a small reminder to everyone. Thank you. I'll be releasing this at the new NFT market is launching soon! . . . #ShinjiMurakami #pixelart #pixelartist #videogameart #8bitart #japaneseart #japaneseartist #brooklynart #brooklynartist #contemporaryart #contemporaryartist #emergingartists #sculpture #sculptures #nft #nfts #nftart #crypto #cryptoart #cryptoartist #3dmodel #3dmodels #3dmodeling #voxel #voxelart #metaverse #climatecrisis #earthday #ourhome #ourplanet (at Planet Earth) https://www.instagram.com/p/CN-Pm0QMOe7/?igshid=v9n868wehuvj
