{ ooc. } Disclaimer for all new followers Mercy loves all Seed children ( + Ethan ) but not their parents. When it’s .new dawn verse timeline as the judge she still dislikes Seed (mostly John ) for what was done to her in the past but will co-live with them for the sake of Joseph/her sanity/the Eden's Gate/ and future of those kids.

It may sound odd but she’s stupid enought to believe that all those seeds children can be better then their parent’s. Even if the ideology of project was put into them from the youngest age.

NEW DAWN MAIN VERSE:

Spending 6 years in the underground bunker with Joseph was for Mercy a tough time. She couldn't look at Joseph, neither speak to him, mourning each day her lost friends. It took her months to get used to the idea that the world she knows ended for good. Finally letting the grief pass, with clean mind she had comes to Joseph asking him for help and forgiveness. Years spent in isolation were difficult but they lived through them together, helping each other. When the time finally had come, together they step outside of the bunker to walk intro Eden's… 

Mercy loyalty and attachment to Joseph started to grow when the alcohol stashed in the bunker started to disappear. Without alcohol Mercy slowly started to feel the effect of detox. After many years of drinking, it was almost deadly for her and the only one who took care of her was Joseph. Just like at her first sermon he gave her hope and promise that everything would change if she will be strong enough and have faith. Because of Joseph care, Mercy was able went tho detox without dying...

In the New Dawn she’s 44 years old 

Because Joseph took care of her and didn't let her die. She had become loyal to him again starting to follow his words and teaching for anew. But this time without turning back to him. Finally knowing her purpose Mercy just like Jacob wolfs followed him, she had become Joseph loyal protective dog- The Judge.

Outside of the bunker Mercy started to speak only around the Father after such long time spend in isolation with him. When she’s around strangers and people of Eden's she’s communicating by using sign language, simple grunts or shaking her head on ‘yes’ / ‘no’. Around her old friends, shes still having trouble with speak to them about everything that happened. But each time she meets them she tries to be more open, joke with them like in the old day's even if it hurts her. She wants to become the old self.

Wearing a mask become for Mercy a way of escape and comfort. Living with shame and guilt that she couldn't save her friend neither even Seed’s was too overwhelming. With the mask on her face, she’s sometimes trying to avoid looking into eyes of her old friends. She only take it off around people who she trust or when she's alone.

Mercy has mix feelings about Ethan. In her eye’s he simply acts like a more annoying version of John. Somehow Mercy understands what it’s like wanting to ‘ show off ’ a father figure that your better but still he’s annoying. Even if she helped Joseph with rising him by taking simple care of him when Joseph couldn't. She never felt for the boy a ‘ mother love ‘ acting more like an aunt for the him.

When the Eden's camp started to grow Mercy had return to her old house and started to rebuild it brick by brick. Again she had started to collect seed’s and herbs that were stashed in her old bunker. Not wanting her knowledge to waist she started to make medic for Eden's but with old habits to playing on both sides Mercy without knowledge of Father tries to leave small packed out side of the Prosperity to help her friends.

When she's not in the New Eden's shes in her old house living in isolation. It's her way of therapy. Taking care of her garden and growing veggies and herbs. Sometimes when somebody would come seek medical help she will exchange the herbs for a small things like food or new plants.

She didn't even notice when she had become the ' old lady with weird garden ' .But she doesn't complain about this.

Sometimes feeling better Mercy can be spotted without the Judge costume walking tho forest or around her house in her old deputy uniform.

{ . new dawn headcanon } After going tho detox without dying in the bunker, at some point Mercy had come to the Father asking him for forgiveness. In act of cleaning her mind and soul she allowed him to crave word ‘ Sinner ‘ onto her back to mark her with it for the rest of her life. That one word would never be strike out from her body. If the scar would start to fade she would come and ask Joseph to crave it again, and again to remember that she had failed and will never be clean of her sins.

Note:  If John is still alive and around New Edens she would ask him to crave -‘ Pride ‘ and ‘ Sloth’ onto her body,  same applies to word ‘ sinner ’  / If not she would crave them herself. ( Later on the rest of the sin’s could be crave in )

{ ooc new dawn. } One thing that I would want to know more about nd is that how Dep/Judge was acting around/interacting with Ethan. In one of the cut-scenes we can see that young Ethan speaks with Joseph and his idk maybe 12-13 old? So we can assume that Ethan was growing up with the Judge around him. 

I want to know if Judge was protecting him ( doing all the ‘nany’ tasks ) when he was a kid or simply watching him from afar reporting to Joseph everything that he was doing from speaking with others to picking flowers. 

As more I think about this, I just can’t stop imagining Mercy stalking young Ethan few meters behind, stopping when his stopping or running at the same pace as him. ( or ‘ Mercy trying to comfort Ethan as a kid after Joseph would ignore him by patting him on shoulder ’ )

{ . new dawn headcanon } After seeing that Cap is wearing Hudson/Staci old uniform, Mercy would simply choke on tears behind the mask. Without asking she would stole it at night from the Cap, only to bury the uniform beside grave of her old collages. Taking only with her the badge name as memento who she had failed.

{.Headcanon} I have idea that older Mercy in New Dawn is simply a ‘Baba Yaga’ living in her cabin deep in the woods taking care of her garden and minding her own business. Studying how plant’s and herbs changed after the collapse and if they can be used in medicine again. From time to time trading herbal medicines for supplies that she need’s.

     The Judge was in silence listening to Johns speech, pretending to be interested. Deep down she still hated his voice, his stupid face and for everything related to him, each nightmare about the Herald rotted her mind for 17 years but now it didn’t matter. She didn’t have the right to say ‘ no ‘ to him now. But it still was quite amusing that she didn’t stab him with an arrow already at some point.

     When he was finally done Mercy looked on her sides observing if anybody was around them. Taking the opportunity of being alone with John, she took a step closer to him and slowly moved her mask up to the height of her lips. She lent over to his ear, violating his comfort zone only to softly whisper  ❞ — …Your….sign s-sucked too…Johny’boy ❞ With smirk painted on her face she patted his chest and slided the mask back on. Who would know that pretending to be muted for such a long time finally was worth the effort? Nobody would believe John that Judge finally spoke only to insult him…

    But still he was right the neon was disgusting and somebody should take care of it. She took some rock from the ground, and put it inside of John hand gesticulating that he should do it.
