yuri had always admired changbin, she had always been amazed by his stage presence and how his raps flew so well, she was a fan of changbin ever since stray kids had debuted. everyone practically knew that yuri was a fan of changbin, even changbin himself, but they never got the chance to meet, until kingdom. after the first episode, blaise snuck yuri into stray kids dressing room so she could reunite with her friends! and there she met changbin, and she had told him how much she admired him and he was just standing there like :DDDD, because yuri was so cute!!! they exchanged numbers that night, and they are always meeting up to produce music together or just have a good time :)

lee chan (seventeen)

yuri and chan both met in middle school! prior to moving to south korea, she was in her first year of highschool, but due to the difference in education systems, she was in her last year of middle school when she moved to south korea. after having to take multiple tests before she moved — she finally got accepted to sang bong middle school, which is where chan attended! she started the school in january, and it was nearing the end of the year, so yuri figured she wouldn’t make any friends. that was until she was sat by chan by the teacher — and the two instantly hit it off. they even performed a dance cover of ‘growl’ by exo at the end of year talent show! their friendship followed the two of them to adult hood — despite attending different highschools. today they consider each other their best friends!! they can be seen hanging out whenever the two of them are free — and people adore their friendship, one day they are tom and jerry, and the other they are the sweetest best friends ever. yuri has even been on dino’s danceology!

mark lee (nct)

mark and yuri met on high school rapper — a little after the disbandment of ioi. the two of them quickly bonded over rapping and producing their own music, and that they were foreigners. the two of them don’t get to hang out as much due to mark’s constant busy schedule, but they still are very close! they are constantly texting each other memes and calling at the most random times just to tell each other stupid shit 😭. but whenever the two of them do hang out together in person...it’s like they are both sharing one braincell. absolute dumbass’s! but we love them for it!

kim yeri (red velvet)

these two are the cutest friends ever !!!! they are literally so precious .... they met when yuri was trying to find a new hobby outside of being an idol — and she decided to try pilates! she so happened to go to the same studio as yeri ... and when they met? yuri was literally starstruck! she couldn’t believe she was truly seeing kim yerim from red velvet in the flesh! and yuri being the social butterfly she is ... she went up to her and introduced herself and said hi to her...and she may or may not have mentioned that she was a big fan of yeri too 💔. and turns out that yeri also adored yuri — and they exchanged numbers and even went to a cafe together afterwards!!! the two of them always giggle about the similarities in their names ... and it always messes people up whenever they are talking about the two of them together. yuri and yeri are always going out and doing things together — whether that be pilates, going out to eat or to see movies — whatever it is they are doing they always have the best time ever, and always always make sure to take pictures together and post them to their insta!

chou tzuyu (twice)

tzuyu and yuri met through chaeyoung — whom (at the time), yuri was dating. even though yuri and chaeyoung are no longer dating, tzuyu and yuri are still good friends! they don’t go out as much whenever they hang out — they like to stay inside whenever they hang out and just catch up with each other — which means many many many sleepovers! they mostly have their sleepovers at the twice dorms — but when the majority of the boys are at home visiting their families, they use the empty dorm to their advantage! aka, watching movies all night and just being ridiculous together — because who is there to judge them? but whenever they hang out — it always seems that they bring our each other’s inner child, and they always have so much fun together :(,, i love them so bad. and yuri is also very protective over tzuyu, if someone says something mean about tzuyu? yuri is going to find them and tell them off because how dare they talk bad about the lovely tzuyu?

BANG CHAN

how they met :: while yuri was a trainee at JYP (2014)

bang chan is like an older brother to yuri — when they met yuri was only 15, and she had just moved to south korea when she became a trainee — she was still new to the new customs and culture, as well as the language. chan saw a part of himself in her, from when he was just starting out as a trainee and making his first big move. when they first met, chan immediately took yuri under his wing. he helped her with her korean studies, and cleared up any cultural confusion or shock that she had as well. without chan ... yuri would have been completely lost.

after yuri moved back to california in late 2014 and didn’t return until mid 2015 — her and chan lost touch. it wasn’t until yuri debuted in ioi that her and chan were able to reconnect, but with yuri now being an idol — it was still hard to stay in touch. they never truly reconnected until 2020 — two years after both stray kids and ateez had debuted and were granted at least some free time. but now, they are back to being besties!

they are always face-timing and hanging out together whenever they get the chance to — attempting to make up for lost time. they are really really close, and when they finally got back into touch, it was like nothing changed. they are the type of friends that it doesn’t matter if you haven’t talked in months or weeks, they are still each other’s best friends and pick right up from where they left off. yuri has been featured on many chan’s room lives, and everyone adores their friendship so much <3.

LEE MINHO

how they met :: kingdom/mcing

minho and yuri first met during kingdom — but it was only brief. they had short conversations here and there, but they didn’t get to truly know each other. when yuri became a mc for music core — her and minho were finally able to get to know each other and become friends!

they don’t hang out much outside of work — since they practically get to see each other every week — but they are constantly caught being mischievous before and after filming (sometimes even during!). everyone knows whenever yuri and minho are together ... that means that they are up to no good. yuri and minho are also overjoyed by the fact that they got to meet each others cat’s — they want to have a playdate ... but with leo taking after his mom and being overdramatic — it may not happen due to leo’s hatred of car rides.

HWANG HYUNJIN

how they met :: sopa

in late 2014 — yuri moved back to her home in san francisco due to mental health and safety reasons. she didnt return to south korea until the summer of 2015 – and during that time yuri did not attend school, causing her to be held back one year. yuri and her parents thought it would be best for her to go to a school where she could pursue her passion — music — so instead of going to a traditional highschool — she went seoul of peforming arts — commonly referred to as ‘sopa’.

yuri and hyunjin were in the same homeroom as each other for three years and were seatmates for the entirety of those three years. yuri and hyunjin didn’t meet in their classroom, though. they met on confession day in the hallways — when yuri was being confessed to in the hallways out of nowhere — hyunjin couldnt help but notice that she had looked extremely uncomfortable — and very confused — so he went over and ‘saved her’, and ever since they had been inseparable. hyunjin was yuri’s rock during highschool — and she was his. they both reminded eachother what it felt like to he a teenager — taking risks and having no care about what could happen next, just living your best life.

unfortunately — after both of them graduated, they drifted apart. they no longer had time to see each other with both of their debuts approaching very quickly. they both tried to stay in touch over the years — but they will never be able to return to the close friends they were in high school. they hate to admit it — but they were just ‘school friends’.

HAN JISUNG

how they met :: through blaise

yuri and blaise met when yuri was still a trainee at JYP — and she introduced yuri to jisung after yuri returned to south korea! the two of them instantly became besties after they found out both of them were interested in rap and producing, and often met at cafe’s after yuri finished school — and wrote many many songs together and produced so many songs on yuri’s dying computer.

yuri and jisung agreed to NEVER release the songs they made together, due to them being incredibly embarrassing and just something they want to keep between themselves as well. but, to this day, they are still writing songs together! they haven’t released any of it yet, but they plan on collaborating soon :) they were SO SO excited to collab on kingdom because they have been waiting for this moment for years!!!! literally everyone in the unit adored jisung and yuri so much because they are just so soft and adorable, their friendship is so precious. they are always cracking jokes and making each other giggle — and you just know whenever jisung and yuri hang out there will be destruction or dumb things said — but everyone loves them so it’s fine 😁 (ps. chan and hongjoong bond over the stress jisung and yuri give them.)

LEE FELIX

how they met :: kingdom

LITERALLY BABIES. THEY ARE SO PURE. yuri adores this boy WITH ALL OF HER HEART. she will literally do anything to protect him, so do not mess with felix or you will have yuri coming after you for the rest of your life 😁. yuri and felix met on sports day during kingdom — and after the two of them got talking, you could NOT separate them.

at the start of the episode, yuri ran over to where stray kids was standing so she could say hi to her friends — and the only member she didn’t meet yet was felix, so chan introduced the two of them! they were given some time to talk to each other and catch up, and felix stole yuri’s heart IMMEDIATELY. she absolutely could not get over how cute and funny he was, and she was so ready to adopt him and take him home with her ... but unfortunately she had to return to her own group 💔.

you could see yuri and felix interacting sooo much during this episode, and they were always so sad to go when they had to leave each other :(. thankfully, they were able to exchange numbers before the two of them had to leave (without the staff noticing of course), and after that they texted almost everyday! they quickly became close friends and now hang out whenever they have free time, and felix even shared his brownie and cookie recipe with yuri!

KIM SEUNGMIN

how they met :: isac

their first meeting was very embarrassing to say the least — more so yuri than seungmin, and they have still not recovered from it. their first meeting was at isac, and they kept bumping into each other right when the other was about to embarss themself.

the first incident included in seungmin flipping his water bottle, but instead of landing, it ended up hitting yuri in the back — since she was sitting close to where stray kids was. seungmin kept apologizing and yuri kept telling him it was okay, but seungmin still felt embarssed. the second incident happened when yuri was walking with ryujin, and she almost tripped over her feet, but seungmin and ryujin quickly grabbed onto her before she was able to fall on her face. both of them were equally embarrassed, and still haven’t been able to live it down from fans and their members.

they have the potential to become friends, but they need to get over their embarrassment before they even think about interacting again 💔. whenever they are in the same room, there is always awkward silence between them, until one of them gets the courage to start small talk...but it quickly gets quiet again 😭

JEON YOONAH

how they met :: when yuri was a trainee at JYP (2014)

yoonah and yuri are bffs!!! they met when blaise was first starting out as a trainee — and while yuri was fairly new as well, she took yoonah under her wing and was her mentor :(( yuri and yoonah were so so close, and still are! yuri is practically yoonah’s older sister by now, because when they were trainee’s yuri would always go home with yoonah during the holidays even when yuri transferred to kq!

to this day yuri and yoonah are still bff’s — they are always hanging out with each other and yuri even has a whole highlight dedicated to blaise on her instagram! the majority of yuri’s posts on her private instagram are just filled with dumb stuff the two of them do 😭. they are constantly giving ateez and stray kids a hard time whenever they hang out — but the boys are so used to it at this point they don’t even care. just the most chaotic best friends ever,, they know how to have fun fr.

YANG JEONGIN

how they met :: through hyunjin/sopa

with hyunjin and yuri being best friends during school, yuri and jeongin were bound to meet. yuri had often walked home with hyunjin, or at least to the train station and then go their separate ways, and that’s when she met jeongin. at first — the two of them didn’t talk much, due to jeongin being very shy in yuri’s presence to muster up the courage to talk to her, but after weeks of seeing yuri and hyunjin goof of on their way home, jeongin found himself tagging along with their antics.

jeongin looked up to yuri a lot during this time, even though she was completely irresponsible with her school work, she was a very passionate and hard working person when it came to doing something she loved. he admired her dedication and her determination to music and the idol-life, and often asked her for advice when things got hard for him. and she was honest with him each and everytime — and always helped him out. whenever jeongin had a problem but wasn’t ready to talk about it with his members, he always went to yuri.

yuri quickly became someone jeongin had been able to depend on, especially in the year leading to his debut. the two of them had always found a way to keep in contact even if their companies strongly disagreed. jeongin had reminded yuri a lot of her younger sister, dahlia, and she treated him as her own sibling. the two of them are still very very close, and will never give each other a break. they are always embarrassing and teasing one another, and even if jeongin tells a terrible story about her on live, she still adores him with all of her heart.

MOTHER 𓂃 𓈒 HWANG MINHEE

yuri never had a good relationship with her mother. there was only a handful of good memories that yuri had with her mother, everything else was nothing but traumatic. after minhee outed yuri to the whole family, their relationship became nonexistent. yuri cut all ties with her mother, and never spoke and never saw her again. she wants to keep it that way, and apparently her mother does too, since she made no effort to reach out to yuri after that.

STEP-MOTHER 𓂃 𓈒 KIM (NÉE LEE) HAEYEONG

haeyeong is dahlia’s, yuri’s half-sister, mother. in 2001, sangcheol had cheated on minhee with haeyeong, which had created a big strain on sangcheol and minhee’s marriage. yuri and her siblings had lived with haeyeong for awhile (2001-2004), and they had often visited haeyeong for the holidays afterwards. haeyeong had always treated yuri and her siblings with respect and kindness, and yuri wished that haeyeong was her mother instead. yuri begged sangcheol and haeyeong to let her move in with haeyeong, but it was to no avail, minhee wouldn’t have allowed it. to this day, yuri and haeyeong still keep in contact, especially since haeyeong and her father are her only family members that live in south korea.

BROTHER 𓂃 𓈒 KIM JAEHYUN

jaehyun — or more commonly referred to as jae — is yuri’s older brother, and the eldest kim sibling. jae is older than yuri by five years — but the two of them are the closest to each other out of all of their siblings. they are each other’s rock — whenever things start to go downhill, they know that they can always turn to each other. in early 2018 — jae and yuri had had a huge argument that caused them to not speak to each other for months, but the two of them talked everything out and have since forgave each other, and haven’t had such an extreme argument since. jae and yuri can be seen hanging out the most out of the kim siblings, and are quite literally best friends. even if jae jokes that yuri is going to give him grey hairs before he turns 30 (which is coming up soon!), he still loves his little sister to pieces <3.

SISTER 𓂃 𓈒 KIM YEJI

yeji — who goes by the stage name ‘taylor’ — is yuri’s older sister — the second eldest out of the kim siblings. yeji is three years older than yuri — and despite the small age gap, yeji and yuri werent that close growing up. they always had a complicated relationship ... growing up yuri always thought that yeji had hated her. and when yeji moved out of the house at age sixteen and refused to be in contact with anyone who lived in that house — that made yuri think that yeji really did hate her. it wasn’t until 2014 — when jae, yeji, and yuri all moved to south korea — that the feelings were finally cleared up. it pained yeji to no end that yuri thought that she hated her — and yeji still hasn’t recovered from the guilt. she tries to get more involved in yuri’s life...but she can’t help but distance herself from all of her siblings. she feels like that without her, all of them would be happier, even though that isn’t the case. yeji knows it’s something she needs to work on ... but she won’t be able to bring herself do it for a long time.

STEP-BROTHER 𓂃 𓈒 CEDRIC IM

cedric im is the son of haeyeong lee — who sangcheol remarried in 2022 — and chanwoo im. haeyeong and chanwoo divorced in 2000, just four years after cedric was born. cedric lived with haeyeong mainly throughout his childhood — and yuri and cedric became very close during the time her and her siblings lived with haeyeong. and even after she moved back in with her mother — her and cedric were still close. granted — they don’t talk much due to them living in different countries — but they still facetime every so often!

HALF-SISTER 𓂃 𓈒 DAHLIA KIM

dahlia is her baby!!!! dahlia is the youngest kim sibling — being born in 2001! ever since dahlia was born, yuri knew she had to protect her. growing up — dahlia lived in oakland — 25 minutes away from san francisco — but she never came over to yuri’s house — due to minhee holding a grudge against dahlia just because of existence. but, whenever yuri could, she always asked her father to take her to see dahlia — and sleepovers with her and dahlia were a very common thing, until yuri moved south korea! dahlia now lives in south korea as of 2020, and yuri and dahlia are closer than ever! they are so adorable — there is no doubt that they are the maknae’s of the family. everyone adores their relationship — and now that both of them are debuted, vlives with each other are very very common!

miyeon and luis are yuri’s favorite aunt and uncle! when yuri was growing up — her and her siblings would often stay at miyeon and luis’s house while her parents were away at business trips — and miyeon and luis treated all of them as if they were their own! during this time, yuri also grew very close to their childern — maia, iseul, and mateo! some of yuri’s happiest memories were made with the pérez family, and she couldn’t be happier that they were in her life :)
