            are  they?  after  everything  she  saw,  deana’s  under  a  spell  of  paranoia  that  she  can’t  seem  to  shake.  it’s  different  from  the  hazy  uncertainty  or  even  silent  vulnerability  she’s  been  too  familiar  with,  instead  this  seems  more  like  a  psychic  warning.  her  anxiety  feels  more  like  what  comes  with  a  premonition,  but  at  the  same  time  she  feels  better  now  that  eddie’s  around.  “maybe,  but  ...  there’s  something  weird  about  the  vibe,  i  don’t  like  it.”  like  something  bad  is  coming.  the  scary  thing  is,  that  could  be  anything  in  hawkins  and  she  can’t  erase  the  visions  flashing  in  her  mind’s  eye.  but  he’s  right,  nothing’s  happening  here  —   at  least  not  now.  she  tilts  her  head  up  slightly  and  looks  up  at  eddie  after  spacing  out  for  a  minute.  “i  don’t  know,  maybe  i’m  just  a  little  on  edge,”  she  guesses.  “i  hope  so.  but  i  trust  you.”  she  means  that,  intuitively  knowing  she  can.  her  heart  rate  slows  down,  thoughts  processing  at  a  more  normal  pace  knowing  he’s  here,  listening  to  his  voice  even  if  it’s  not  herself  she’s  worried  about.  after  what  she  does  know  about  other  dimensions,  rifts  and  otherworldly  beings,  it’s  easy  for  her  catlike  senses  to  eclipse  her.  she  notices  the  slightest  ominous  change  in  the  frequency  and  hyperaware  of  anything  that  might  be  wrong,  but  figuring  eddie  must  know  more  about  this  place  than  she  does,  she  tries  not  to  assume  something  apocalyptic.  it’s  just  that  now,  since  she  has  people  she  cares  about,  she  wants  them  to  be  safe.  “i  worry  about  that,  you  know?”

        deana  tilts  her  head  thoughtfully,  amused  by  the  sudden  but  intriguing  question.  she  might  not  have  given  it  much  thought  otherwise,  but  now  her  mind  is  going  through  an  encyclopedia  of  movie  killers  and  an  almost  deranged  little  smile  plays  at  her  lips.  she  looks  a  little  too  excited  to  be  imagining  a  showdown  with  an  actual  nightmare  demon,  but  she’s  got  ideas.  “freddy  krueger.  i  mean,  come  on.  have  you  seen  the  way  the  guy  runs,  all  kooky?  there’s  got  to  be  a  way  to  surprise  him  and  switch  the  power  dynamic  completely.  he  might  have  those  nails,  but  i’ve  got  a  set  of  claws  too,”  she  casts  a  frisky  wink,  smiling  playfully.  “wanna  know  something?  i  had  a  dream  that  he  kidnapped  me  once,  dragged  me  to  some  strange  place...  and  not  only  did  i  get  away  from  him,  but  i  stole  candy  from  his  lair  and  i  got  in  some  random  old  lady’s  car  and  ran  him  over  with  it.  i  could  totally  kick  his  ass.”  she  giggles,  like  it’s  the  most  hilarious  scene  she’s  ever  imagined  but  she  continues  with  a  cool  smile.  “no,  seriously.  with  everything  i  could  do  telepathically?  if  he’s  gonna  come  barging  into  my  dreams,  looking  to  kill  me,  he’s  got  another  thing  coming.  i’ll  show  him  what  a  REAL  nightmare  looks  like.”  there’s  a  dark  playfulness  to  catlike  hues,  knowing  what  she’s  capable  of.  illusions.  distractions.  twisting  and  creating  an  environment  as  she  pleases,  using  enough  psychic  energy.   curiosity  softens  her  features  with  her  attention  turning  back  to  henry.  “what  about  you?”

"my favorite food from my favorite person." he knows exactly how to tease that rare smile onto her lips. "just the pick me up i needed," she sings cheerfully, having wanted exactly that. another day in her chaotic and confusing life could always be made better with the warm, rich and saucy delicacy, no matter how moody and in her own world she can be. "mmm..." dark eyes flutter closed at the first taste, keeping the grateful smile painted onto her lips. "you have no idea how starved i was. so," she continues, a noticeably peppier note to her voice now that she's out of the fog and the shadows of her own mind as she looks up at henry, still petite in black kitten pumps. "did i miss anything fun?"

at first, deana seems to blank as if she's unsure of what to say. she doesn't want to be alone. no ... she wants him to stay with her, it dawns on her. deciding she hasn't quite had enough of his company yet tonight, an almost secret smile teases at the corner of her lips and her deep espresso hues begin to glimmer with a mischievous fire. "iiii have a new movie we can watch." whether she rented it or it 'magically disappeared' from family video, she'll never tell. "and some of the good stuff," she adds, holding up a bottle of liquor and dangling it playfully. she pauses, getting more ideas and ultimately playing the cute card with her lashes fluttering and her sweetest little smile, eyes never flickering from his for even a second. not everyone gets to experience her coquettish charm; she typically keeps people at an arm's length and observes others until she really feels safe around them, careful about being a little too vulnerable but an opportunity like this is almost impossible to resist. "please? besides... i like hanging out with you." a simple sentiment, but there's something else lingering in her tone as if she's holding back an understatement. that she wants more time with him. she doesn't break eye contact, looking as cute as possible and waiting for him to decide not to call it a night so soon. she's really hoping he stays with her.

          “you  mean  the  stuff  that  happens  in  some  pretty  intense  REM?  because  if  you  promise  not  to  think  i’m  a  complete  fruit  loop,”  deana  teases  with  a  kittenish  smirk,  moody  teal  eyes  flickering  with  delight.  her  subconscious  is  another  dimension.  “some  of  my  dreams  are  pretty  mundane,  if  not  a  little  weird.  like  being  in  my  old  house,  or  walking  to  dairy  queen  in  the  middle  of  the  night.  others...  get  even  weirder,”  dark  brows  lift,  a  playful  warning.  “as  in  seeing  three  moons  in  the  sky,  being  trapped  in  liminal  spaces  ...  or  sitting  in  the  art  classroom  while  the  teacher  tells  me  i  have  spirits  attached  to  me,  as  in  dark  entities  and  paranormal  stuff.  like  that  movie  poltergeist.”  she’ll  never  forget  that  one.  “or...  just  this  ominous  feeling  that  something's  going  to  happen,”  she  divulges  in  a  slightly  darker  tone,  gaze  falling  into  nothing  in  particular  as  they  play  out  in  her  mind’s  eye  and  take  her  back  to  a  nebulous  fog.  it’s  always  with  someone  she  knows,  this  vague  anxiety  making  her  reluctant  to  leave  them  because  she  senses  their  fate.   whether  they’re  dreams  or  premonitions,  she  isn’t  too  sure  she  wants  to  know.   deana’s  able  to  snap  back  to  the  present,  though,  amusement  returning  to  her  pale  visage.

        “but  if  we’re  talking  wishes  and  aspirations,  i  would  love  to  go  to  italy  someday.  rome,  the  colosseum,  the  ruins  of  pompeii.  i’ve  always  found  that  fascinating...  not  to  mention  world  class  pizza.”  she  giggles,  frisky  smirk  blossoming  as  black  kohl  lined  eyes  study  jd  with  curiosity.  “what  about  you?”

             she  may  a  tough  one  to  impress,  hardly  batting  an  eyelash  at  the  male  population  around  them,  but  not  as  of  this  moment.  deana  seemed  lost  in  a  charmed  haze,  staring  dreamily  after  the  mysterious  boy  who  had  snatched  her  attention  with  that  little  smirk  and  flirtatiously  edged  line.  she  definitely  has  a  type.  “he  looks  like  trouble,”  she  comments  with  the  hint  of  a  smile  curving  at  plump  lips,  eyes  fixated  and  sparkling  like  a  cat’s  when  she  sees  something  she  likes.  at  veronica’s  warning,  she  finally  breaks  her  stare  and  turns  to  her.  “wait,  what?  do  you,  like...  know  him  or  something?”  milky  features  tilt  curiously,  eyes  darting  between  the  two.  “if  there’s  something  i  should  know,  now’s  a  pretty  good  time  to  tell  me  so  i  don’t  end  up  doing  something  stupid...”

she’s  in  another  world  again,  her  thoughts  coming  in  symbols  and  images  as  she  stares  into  empty  space  and  sees  something  completely  different  than  her  surrounding  reality.  her  mind  is  just  that  vivid  whether  she’s  planning  her  next  outfit,  tuning  into  other  frequencies,  romanticizing  completely  unrealistic  scenarios  and  getting  mischievous  ideas.  one  shifts  into  another  without  any  logic  and  her  awareness  of  what  she’s  doing  slips  away  and  she  doesn’t  know  how  completely  abstracted  she  looks,  dreamlike  doll  eyes  elsewhere  and  dancing  with  secrets.  a  voice  snaps  her  back  and  she’s  instantly  receptive,  oceanic  hues  wide  with  a  sudden  lucidity  a  hinted  rosy  hue  blossoming  onto  her  cheeks  once  henry  speaks.  “oh...  yeah...  i’m  fine,”  she  nods,  sweeping  dark  brunette  waves  behind  a  black  metal  and  ruby  studded  ear.  “maladaptive  daydreaming.”  she  divulges  with  a  kittenish  smirk,  a  playful  undertone  to  her  voice  echoing  one  of  their  conversations  from  earlier  with  a  little  laugh.  she  appreciates  knowing  he  pays  that  much  attention,  lips  still  curved  into  a  smile.  “i  tend  to  do  that  sometimes...  but  thanks  for  checking  up  on  me.”

"uh..." deana freezes up. she's so not prepared for this one, cherubic features tinted a slight cherry pink and her gaze darting around nervously. there's TWO of them who she absolutely should not be crushing on, and spilling as much as a hint would mean she'd have to flee hawkins permanently or perish from humiliation. they're way out of her league anyway, she secretly tells herself. or maybe she's just not confident enough to think she has a shot with either of them, even despite her bad girl aesthetic and too-cool attitude... but they did say anyone, right? getting ideas, she turns on the dark and dreamy charm and casts a frisky smirk with a dark curl slowly twisting around her finger. "honestly? DAVE MUSTAINE. megadeth? god, he's hot. he can play me like a guitar anytime," she winks flirtatiously, not at all lying even if they're not getting the answer they were probably hoping for.

while  cindy  and  deana  both  have  psychic  abilities,  they’re  not  quite  the  same.  cindy  can  astral  project  and  enter  dream  realms,  deana  can  transcend  dimensions  but  she  doesn’t  know  how  to  do  either  of  those...  but  maybe  she  can,  if  cindy  or  someone  helps / teaches  her.  she  does  have  vivid  premonitions,  and  she  can  telepathically  project  them  to  others  so  they  can  see  what  she  “sees”.
