"...Wait—are you seriously—" You jump back up with confidence (and a bruised ego), but now he's panicking. "You sure you don't wanna sit down? Mabey some water? First aid???" Still, he humors you. He plays soft at first... until you try to trash talk. "You scared, Taiga?" That's when he dunks so hard the hoop shakes and you swear the earth tilted. "You ASKED for this," he says, out of breath, laughing as you flop to the ground in defeat.

He grins like the devil when you challenge him. "Aww, how cute. You think you've got a chance?" It takes ten seconds for him to double over laughing. You try to crossover, and instead cross yourself out of bounds. "YOU SAID YOU PLAYED ONCE IN HIGH SCHOOL—" "Yeah! Once! And I quit after i got hit in the face with the ball!" He doesn't even try anymore. He's laying on the floor mid-court as you "Dribble" (Chase the ball like a lost toddler). "Yo, babe—are you... are you trying to do a layup or summon a demon?" Eventually, he lets you score—then immediately scores 20 in a row while smirking. "Oops. My hand slipped~" 💛 Kise Ryouta

"Ehhh~?! You wanna go against me?" He gasps like you just proposed. "You're so bold! So cool! So inspiring!" He hypes you up to the point you believe you're capable of greatness... Then you throw the ball straight into his face. The gasp he lets out is drama-king level. Falls to his knees holding his nose like you just ended his modeling contract. "BABE MY FACE!!! I HAVE SHOOTS NEXT WEEK!!!" You're apologizing and he's whimpering dramatically... until you offer to kiss it better. He perks up immediately. "Okay fine, I forgive you. But you're buying me boba and massaging my ego later~" (You don't even finish the game. He just posts you on his story with “💛 my #1 fan… not my #1 baller lol 💛” )

🧊 Akashi Seijuro

He says nothing at first. Just nods. “As you wish.” You’re barely into your first possession when he pauses. Blinks. Adjusts his stance. “Your form is… unusual.” You’re hunched over. Palming the ball like it’s a melon. Shooting like it’s a dodgeball. “…Have you ever played this sport before?” You lie. “Yes.” He tilts his head. “Interesting. You appear to be actively losing to gravity.” Instead of playing you seriously, he walks over and calmly starts correcting you like a private coach. “Here. Like this.” He adjusts your hands. Moves your feet. His voice is calm but you can feel the judgment in his soul. The game never finishes. He buys you a milk tea and says, “I admire your confidence. Let’s never speak of this again.”

🍬 Murasakibara Atsushi

"Eh... too much work," he groans when you first challenge him. You promise snack if he plays, and now suddenly he's 7 feet of grumpy motivation. "Only 'cause you said there's gummies after." You try to start the match seriously, but the moment you do a sad little dribble that bounces back into your own shin, he squints. "Are you even trying?" he mumbles, standing completely still as you huff and puff past him like a lost puppy. He doesn't even chase you. He just holds the ball over your head like a toddler with candy. You jump. he yawns. "So sloooow~" Eventually, he just scoops you up, grabs the ball, and walks both of you to the hoop. "Atsushi! You can't dunk me—" "Mm. Too late." He gently deposits you into the net like laundry and then turns to you with the most deadpan voice: "I win. Feed me." You ask for a rematch. He lays flat on the floor and says, "Nope. I'm retired."

🎯 Midorima Shintarō

The minute you say "1v1 me," he visibly frowns. "This is a waste of time. You'll hurt yourself." You ignore him. You're full of passion. He's full of regret. And then you start the game... and he's left blinking behind his glasses in pure disbelief. You throw the ball backwards. You run with your in the air like you're doing jazzercise. You yell "KOBE" and miss the backboard entirely. "...What the hell was that?' He says nothing more the next five minutes—just silently adjusts his glasses every time you embarrass yourself anew. But he stays. Watches every tragic attempt. And when it's over, hands you a towel and says, "Your lucky item for today was a sports magazine. Clearly, it didn't work." You laugh. He sighs. And somehow, he still buys you lunch after. (And mutters "idiot" under his breath, but with love.)

The team had been buzzing about this trip to Seattle for weeks. Coach Geno gave us the weekend off, and when Nika found out we were all coming to watch her play for the Seattle Storm, she nearly cried on FaceTime. Paige, of course, insisted on coordinating matching jerseys for us.

"They’re custom," Paige said, holding up the black-and-green and gold-and-green Seattle jerseys with Nika’s name and number on the back. "Because we’ve got to support our girl properly."

I smiled as I took mine, running my fingers over the embroidered lettering. "Matching jerseys, huh? You trying to stake your claim again?"

Paige shrugged, her smirk betraying her nonchalance. "Maybe."

Climate Pledge Arena was electric. The lights dimmed for the starting lineup introductions, and Nika’s name drew loud cheers from the crowd. She gave a quick wave to us before jogging onto the court.

Paige and I sat courtside, our matching jerseys impossible to miss. She laced her fingers through mine, resting our intertwined hands on her thigh, for a short moment before playfully smacking my hand and "flicking" my hand back to my lap. After I told her her hands were sweaty, I caught a couple of cameras pointed our way, but I ignored them, focusing on the game and the warmth of Paige beside me.

KK sat on my other side, clearly the third wheel. She leaned over during halftime, pointing at our jerseys, as if she didn’t get one from Paige after begging her to let her match with us.

"Y’all we really went full matching, huh? You know you’re just feeding the internet more content, right?"

Paige rolled her eyes. "What are they gonna do? Complain about us supporting Nika?"

"True," KK said, pulling out her phone. "Might as well lean into it. Smile, moms!"

Before I could react, KK turned her camera toward Paige and me, starting an Instagram Live.

"Hey, girly pops! Okay so boom we’re out here at the Storms game, watching the one and only Nika Mühl do her thing. And look at this!" She flipped the camera to show Paige and me. "Matching jerseys. I’m officially the third wheel."

Paige chuckled, throwing an arm around my shoulders and pulling me closer. "You’re lucky we let you sit with us."

The comments rolled in fast:

• They’re so cute!

• Not KK calling them ‘moms’ lol.

• When’s the family photos dropping on the gram since you’re matching?

• So like are they a thing or what?

KK squinted at her screen, reading aloud. "‘When’s the family photos dropping on the gram?’ Honestly, y’all, that’s a great question. Hey, moms, any updates?"

I buried my face in my hands, laughing despite myself. "KK, stop!"

Paige, on the other hand, grinned. "Patience, KK. Good things take time."

After the game, the team crowded into the players' tunnel to greet Nika. She hugged each of us, saving Paige and me for last.

"Look at you two," Nika said, gesturing to our jerseys. "My biggest fans."

"Always," Paige said, handing her the jersey we’d brought for her to sign.

Nika scribbled her name across the back before pulling us both into a hug. "Thanks for coming, guys. It means a lot."

Later that night, KK couldn’t stop talking about the Live.

"You should’ve seen the comments, Y/N," she said, scrolling through her phone. "People are obsessed with you two."

"Obsessed?" I repeated, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, like, in a good way," KK clarified. "They’re rooting for you."

I glanced at Paige, who was lounging on the bed, her hand resting on my knee. Her eyes met mine, and she smiled softly.

"Let them root," she said.

Her words settled something in me, and I leaned over to kiss her cheek.

As we boarded the plane back to Connecticut, Paige tugged me aside, holding up her phone.

"One of KK’s comments gave me an idea," she said, her tone mischievous.

"Oh no," I groaned.

🖤🏀 Kitchens!

I finally sat my ass down to watch the anime and… man, I love house scenes! They are perfect to see how a character’s personally is expressed into space and yet, in spite of me loving to squint at any given character’s bookcase the minute the chance presents itself, in kurobas what really got my attention were— you guessed it— the kitchens!

❤️ Kagami’s kitchen is a dream only because it looks so well put-together. Double-door fridge, too — I bet it’s chock full btw — notes on it (could they be bills? 🫣), as well. Just— look how tidy and clean everything is… does he have a Virgo ASC or something this dude or what?! O3O

🤎 Up next is the Aida family’s kitchen that looks fairly more… homy and old. All the cutlery is laid out, indicating that it’s used quite often. :)

Also, the protein packages on the counter almost sent me! Jeez! X’D

💚 Aaand another spotless kitchen is… Midirima’s! This one’s on the high-end spectrum, yet it also looks fairly used with all those condiments laid out in plain sight for -supposedly - easy access. Definitely the work of his mom; it’s a shame Shin-chan can’t cook to save his life, though! (ToT)

Anime Recs Pt 2

Any BL fan knows that sports anime is all about the homoerotic tension between the MC, his team players and his rivals 🤌🏼 trust this genre to serve in both aesthetics and feels - which means it deserves its own list! I tried to include a little bit of everything from hidden gems like Ryman’s Club to big hits like Haikyu. Most of these have 🌈 vibes if you squint (sometimes not that hard) with YoI being more intentional about it. And for those who love found family like me, you can’t go wrong with 1, 2 or 6. I hope everyone can get something for their tastes and find catharsis as they cheer for these pretty boys. This is the second part of my anime rec series, you can find the first list here. Enjoy!

1. Backflip!! 🤸🏻‍♂️

Summary: Shotaro Futaba loved sports, but was never good enough. But watching a group of gymnasts in the park and seeing them in a gymnastics tournament, he decides to join their school and become part of the gymnastic team. With new members, Shotaro and Ryoya Misato, the team aims for the upcoming Inter-High tournament.

2. Big Windup! ⚾️

Summary: The story follows the story of Ren Mihashi, a pitcher who was blamed by his middle school team for their string of losses, and as a result suffers from low self-esteem and transfers to a different high school. There, the school's first baseball team is being formed and Mihashi reluctantly joins as their Ace Pitcher.

3. Free! 🏊‍♂️

Summary: Free is set in the town of Iwatobi, Japan, which is based on Iwami, Tottori. The story is centered on high school student Haruka Nanase, a gifted swimmer. After encountering his childhood rival, Rin Matsuoka from Samezuka Academy, he and his friends revitalize Iwatobi High School's swim team.

4. Haikyu!! 🏐

Summary: Junior high school student, Shoyo Hinata, becomes obsessed with volleyball after catching a glimpse of Karasuno High School playing in the Nationals on TV. Of short stature himself, Hinata is inspired by a player the commentators nickname 'The Little Giant', Karasuno's short but talented wing spiker.

5. Kuroko no Basket 🏀

Summary: The story follows Kuroko's journey to success with his team, with most of the episodes being based around one or part of one challenging game, in which Kuroko and his teammates, most notably Taiga Kagami, perform plays and have short conversations with opposing players in the heat of the match.

6. Run with the Wind 🏃‍♂️

Summary: After abandoning competitive running back in high school, Kakeru Kurahara has no desire to return to the sport during his college years. But when an impromptu shoplifting-related sprint brings his talent to the attention of Haiji Kiyose, he soon finds himself wrapped up in an adventure he never imagined.

7. Salaryman’s Club 🏸

Summary: The story follows Mikoto Shiratori, a recently unemployed badminton prodigy who has the ability of foresight. After getting fired from Mitsuhoshi Banking for losing a match for their company sports badminton team, he gets recruited by Sunlight Beverage to play for their team and become a sales rep.

8. SK8 the Infinity 🛹

Summary: In Okinawa, a group of hardcore skaters participate in a secret, no-holds-barred competition after midnight known as "S", racing each other on skateboards down a winding road carved out of an abandoned mine. Reki, a high school sophomore and hardcore skater, takes new transfer student Langa to S one night, and ends up pulling him into the world of skateboarding.

9. Tsurune 🏹

Summary: Minato joins the Kazemai High School Archery Club and along with his old friends and new teammates, Nanao Kisaragi and Kaito Onogi, they aim for winning the prefectural tournament while trying to overcome their doubts and shortcomings.

10. Yuri!!! On ICE ⛸️

Summary: Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki faces a crushing defeat during the Grand Prix finals and heads home, unsure of whether or not he wishes to continue his skating career. After a video of Yuri mimicking Russian figure skater Victor Nikiforov's routine goes viral, Victor decided to become Yuri's coach, much to the dismay of his coach, his fans, and his fellow Russian skater Yuri Plisetsky.
