it's the interruption of her internal self defeating monologue from the man she has met only briefly before, her maternal grandfather- and while he seems to mean well, with words are colored with a kind tone that probably is encouraging her to go out and have fun with the handful of other teens here, andromeda has firmly planted herself against a wall, making polite with passing guests who seem to look at her with curiosity.

" i'm t-trying not too! " andromeda's response is an embarrassed mumble- her tone, despite the carefully coached smile, is tinged with an anxious defensiveness. there are too many faces- whirls of names and people and various fancy, dressed up people andromeda had to greet. they're all blending together.

"i n-normally stay at h-home. so i'm b-bad at crowds." it's hard to not feel defensive- or for the well meaning words to set off every alarm in her mind. "i t-think i just need s-some fresh air. and i'll be f-fine. promise."

she wants her cat and her bed.

" andromeda did not want to make anything easier for anyone. a horrifying heartbeat- and the hands around her neck morph into her older stepsisters' hands, and panic spikes in her gut. don't touch me. don't touch me. stop touching me! her long, manicured fingernails dig into the arms connected to the hands around her throat.

with the frantic force of a cornered dog, andromeda jerks her body backwards, dropping her hands, and breaking the grip around her neck, then promptly sinks her teeth into the arm of the person- hard enough that the taste of blood fills her mouth. a nearby window cracks and splinters- and a shard of glass instinctively whips at the person in front of her- nearly hitting them with it's sharpened edge. " d-don't touch me! "
