     It had been a whim really, inviting the little dragon to the haunted church for some fun. Kiko wasn’t really sure why they had decided to do it, but it would be fun to try to scare during the little festivities and such. They’d be in their element, which gave them the home advantage.

     That’s why they had gotten here early, the first scare for her being them opening the doors and making it look like the ancient boards did it themselves. Her reaction was priceless, and even her insult didn’t put a damper on their mood. “You have to admit, we timed that perfectly!” They didn’t bother offering her a hand because they knew she wouldn’t take it.

     They watched as she took in the sight of the interior of the church. Honestly, the demon had found it like this when they first got here, which they still found interesting. A church was a house of God, but here was the shitty ritual to summon Lucifer, the king of Hell, the most beautiful fallen angel. It was just irony at its very best and they loved it.

     “Pressure plate?” They hadn’t noticed it when they first showed up, but they didn’t get the chance to think about it because the floor gave out underneath them. Despite the suddenness of it, their yelp of fear turned into laughter when they realized they were right; the place had more to it than it first seemed. “Let’s see what awaits in the darkness!”

     The ground was quick to meet them, and it hurt to land, bones creaking in protest at the rough treatment. Looking up, it was clear that they had fallen quite a distance but not far enough to kill unless one landed wrong, which was strange. One would think that if one wanted to kill intruders, they’d at least put spikes or something down here to guarantee death. “Hm... I suppose we’ll have to find another way out...”

     A quick walk. That was all Kiko had wanted, but it seemed the day had other plans for them. They had walked through the park, mostly winding through the trees and away from the paths to avoid unnecessary encounters. They had paused under one of the trees when they heard rustling, turning their face upwards only to have a shoe hit them in the face.

     At first, they froze as the shoe fell to the ground and they finally saw the poor girl stuck in the tree by the back of her sweater. Then there was the poor attempt to hold back a snort of amusement, which quickly devolved into laughter. Oh God, that has to be so embarrassing, to be stuck in a tree like that!

     They wheezed after a few minutes of laughing, managing to get their laughter under control. “Hehehe, you, uh, you having fun just hanging around?” Then they burst out laughing again at their own terrible pun, though this one was significantly shorter than the previous bout. “Hahhh, need some help?”

     “That’s rich coming from you. I expected you to say something completely different, yet here you are, advising me to seek professional help.” The raven couldn’t help but chuckle, a grin on his face. “I hope you can see the irony, because I sure as hell can!”

     They were restless, impatient. It had been too long since they last had made a kill. Mistakes were going to be made if they didn’t get themselves under control soon. So, they were reduced to picking a person at random and making them their prey. The chosen prey was a woman with pretty brown hair, who was alone right now.

     “She’s pretty. I wonder what she’d look like in pain...” They murmured to themselves as they made their way over to where she was, a grin on their face. Unlike the other times, they probably weren’t going to be able to convince her to come with them, so kidnapping it was. “Pretty girl, pretty girl...” As soon as they were close enough, they grabbed her by the hair and placed a knife on her throat. “Don’t scream. At least, not yet anyways~”

     Kidd fiddled with one of his gold cufflets, turning it over and over in his hands as he sat on the couch in their shared home. It was one of a pair, ones he almost always wore, no matter where he was or how he was dressed. In reality, it was a really good thing he liked gold over silver; silver had a tendency to hurt Loni a lot. Seemed like it was something a lot of ‘mythical’ creatures didn’t like, if you thought about it.

     “Hey Loni, I got a question fer ya...” He tilted his head over to where she was, a small frown on his face. “Is there a way ta like, figure out if someone is one o’ those beasts from myths? O’ is it all guesswork? ‘Cause ‘m pretty sure there’s a vampire o’ somethin’ that I might have a regular customer...”

     They couldn’t help but grin in a sick sense of excitement when she picked up the pole and swung it. They quickly brought their arms up, using them as a shield to protect their head from damage. A demented giggle left their lips as they took a few steps to the side, almost in a dance-like manner. 

     “C’mon babe! You can hit harder than that!” Came the sing-song taunting.

     It wasn’t just irritating, but it was infuriating too. Kikoku had spent months in this stupid city, stringing along his target and getting to know them to better prepare for their ultimate demise by his hand. Then this bastard came along and kidnapped them, right in front of his eyes. So, he followed the cocky little asshole to his little killing area. It wasn’t like it hard to do; he was good at tracking people.

     “Oh, trust me. This was no accident. I have a bone to pick with you, asshole.” He glared at the other, his hands in his pockets with a strained, pissed-off smile on his face. He couldn’t stop grinding his back teeth in rage as he stared at the other male. Oh, this bastard was going to pay for taking his kill like this. Where the hell did he get off, stealing his kill?

     “Don’t you know it’s fucking rude to steal someone else’s kill?” With each step the other took, he matched it, until they were almost nose-to-nose with one another. “I spent months getting close to that son of a bitch, and then you come along, kidnap him, and then kill him in front of me. Don’t think I’m just going to let you off for doing that. You cost me so much time, and another body to add to my count. I’m going to fuck you up, buddy.”

     After that disastrous, yet oddly fun, set of text messages between himself and the fiery purplette, Kidd hadn’t really expected to run into her again so soon. Much less in his own workshop, his ‘turf’ of sorts, of all places. She was either here to tease him about the, uh, accidental photo, or she just happened to stumble on the place or something else like that.

     “Well, well, well... Ta what do the honor of ya comin’ ta my place? Ya want something, purple? Or are ya just here to blackmail me?” He didn’t bother with any small talk; it was useless for the most part, unless you were trying to buy time.
