PROMPTS FOR LIES, DECEIT, AND VILLAINY
@toksikk: "I always get what I want." (From Lexus)
"Oh, honey, I bet you do."
House has no idea what the younger woman is referring to, but does it matter, really? It isn't in his interest to know as long as he gets to gawk.
"What can I get for you? Hundred dollars, my firstborn son?"

PROMPTS FOR LIES, DECEIT, AND VILLAINY
@godstrayed: "That sounds like a you problem." (From Will)
House leans heavily on his cane inside the dimly lit patientâs room, fluorescent lights flickering intermittently. The antiseptic smell is almost tasteable as he looks at his most recent patient, Will Graham (as it states on his file), sitting hunched over on his gurney, with clear signs of fatigue and pain in his face and the tone of his voice.
Makes sense, as he wouldnât be here otherwise, but as the one in need of medical attention, House expected him to be a little more cooperative.
"Ah, I see."
"So youâre the kind of guy who likes to play hard to get with potentially life-saving information... How charming."

"Jesusâ"
House stands still at the door to Exam Room 1, the patient's medical chart in one hand and his cane in the other.
"You look like crap."

@storyofwhoiam: "I'm telling the truth, I swear!" (From Allie)
Popping a Vicodin in his mouth, House scrutinizes Allie for a moment. He then taps his cane to the floor, breaking the silence.
"Letâs say, for a moment, I believe you. Whatâs the truth, exactly? And why should I care about your version of it?"

FOR THE SICK
@d1rtgrubz: "I feel okay. I think."
Of course Mr. Kelly feels better: all he needed was a couple of IVs and a few nights of rest to be as good as new, despite Cuddyâs early ideas that forced this case upon him.
But as he diagnosed him, House had found more to this new patient than met the eye: he was a bit of a medical marvel, capable of withstanding a lot of the stupid shit it was put through, and House wanted to poke and prod him until he understood just how he workedâespecially in the head.
So, he needed an excuse to get him to stay.
"No, no, thatâs the placebo effect, my dear friend. We still have many a test to run."

PROMPTS FOR LIES, DECEIT, AND VILLAINY
@wh0safra1d: "That's the last of it! I promise!" (from Abigail)
House has met some interesting characters in the month since he was admitted to the psychiatric hospitalâfrom his unbearable-attempt-at-a-rapper roommate to the man who thinks heâs Superman.
It was usually easy to tell what was in the mind of the institutionalized before him, but this changed with Abigail Hobbs.
Since her arrival, her innocent demeanor and silence have caught his attention. And if thereâs one thing thatâs true about Gregory House, itâs that heâs presented with a puzzle, he will have to solve it.
"Last of what, exactly?"
Heâs skeptical, and the tone that accompanies that skepticism cuts through the sterile air of the room. He doesnât buy that to be the full extent of her story, as he can see how she shifts under his scrutiny.
"If you mean your fabricated tale, sure--Iâd like the real one now if youâre so kind."

@toomuchlikedad: "You're a traitor."
"Thatâs a harsh word, darling."
Itâs rare for House to address Aubrey by anything other than her name, Bree, or "child," and when he does, it's usually in a mocking manner.
This is one of those times, as he finishes the last few bites of the last slice of pizza heâd promised to save her, all without a hint of regret.
"Iâm just trying to teach you you canât trust no one--not even your old man."

@himbovillains: "Hand it over. I know you have it." (from Wilson)
Whoâs barging into his office uninvited, on his time of leisure? Why, it is no other than boy wonder oncologist, James Wilson, demanding that he return something of importance to him.
After years of having things âborrowedâ, heâll have to be more specific.
Reclining in his office chair with his feet propped up on the desk, House barely looks up from the news magazine heâs pretending to read.
"Have what? I donât know what youâre talking about."

PROMPTS FOR LIES, DECEIT, AND SOME VILLAINY
@cagedpotential: "I always get what iI want."
"Of course you do; you're almost too pretty. I don't think anyone's ever said no to you."
It's more of an observation than a compliment, although House is no stranger to hiring someone based on their appearance. He's done it before with Cameron and Chase, and even with some temps who came before them. However, when he does, there's always something behind that piques his interest.
Dr. Hart's credentials are solid, as is her family history. But that will only get her shortlisted: she still has to go through the trials.
"I'm sure you'll do a great job, maybe even convince a few people to drop out early, but you still have to prove yourself to me."

@mastermicd: "I don't believe a word of what you just said." (From April)
House leans back in his chair, his blue eyes narrowing as he studies Dr. Kepner.
"Of course you donât."
When he finally speaks, his tone is laced with sarcasm. House stands up and limps slightly as he makes his way to the whiteboard, which is full of their patientâs symptoms, written by yours truly.
"Why would you? Youâre programmed to see the best in people and believe in happy endings--but newsflash, Kepner, the world doesnât work that way."

@mastermicd: "Hand it over. I know you have it." (from Addison)
"Hand over what, exactly?"
House feigns innocence, his eyebrows stitching together as if he is offended that she would imply he had taken something from her.
"You'll have to be more specific. I have a lot of things--some might even be legal."

CARING FOR STUBBORN MUSES
@inhaunts:Â "I'll make you a deal: I'll just get you some bandages and nothing else, and you stop making a fuss over it." (from Wilson)
But House wants to make a fuss about it, because pain in his leg is normal, but anywhere else in his body is unbearable, and he's all out of Vicodin.
Sure, he had it coming to himâa shenanigan gone wrong that left him with first-degree burns. Wilson, being the only one aware of his plan, is, in turn, the only one who can help him without blowing his cover.
This should be a learning experience for him, but that's just not his style.
"I'm still getting a lollipop, right? All good boys get a lollipop."
