asuma sees his little daughter raising her arms and asking to be lifted and he did what she requested. picking up mirai on his arms he gives her a small kiss on her forehead.

“how is my little sunshine doing?”

             "I'm good, Tou-chan!"

      The daughter giggles in his arms, resting her hands on his shoulders. She loved being so high up, able to meet her father's eyes.

             "While you were away, Kaa-chan took me around the village. Akakiba let me ride on Kibamaru, too!" She beams. "How was your mission, Tou-chan?"

     “    oh,” temari begins as she glances down at the child. the brightness and curiosity that light up mirai’s eyes, she realizes, is one of the more hopeful things she’s witnessed. that being said, it’s never been any question that she meant so much to shikamaru. her features soften, and looking at mirai, she gestures at a nearby chair. smiling and moving to reach into shikadai’s crib, she says, “you can sit there, okay? and, i’ll hand him to you.”

             " Okay ! "

      When she heard Shikamaru and Temari were expecting, she'd been preparing for the day she'd be able to meet their child. Now that he was born, she'd been begging to see him— to give him the same amount of care that his parents had shown her. First step being to hold him, of course.

             " Dai-kun is so small, " she says, peering over from her seat. " Shikamaru-niichan told me to watch over him, like a big sister ! "

      The girl clings onto his leg, beaming a bright smile. He had to look after her today, with both Kurenai and their babysitter unavailable. Yet, once he had made it to her: it seemed he had just parted ways with a woman in pig-tails. Who could she be?

             "Was that nee-chan your girlfriend?"
