yea the "nana is a bad name" crowd are annoying

imo i feel like michi is one of the most characters who desperately deserves to be rewritten.

she's a very clearly dark-skinned woman and the second meif'wa we're introduced to in an arc tackling meif'wa discrimination. despite this, there's a baffling dialogue choice where aphmau could've ignored michi's confession that she was a victim of attempted slave trafficking and instead snark about the death of her mother. yeah, aph that's the thing you should be hung up on and not that there's apparently a market for slavery.

(and michi's backstory is given no meaningful significance after this and the only meif'wa who face onscreen discrimination are the humans.)

and then—plot twist!—the dark-skinned character who doubles as species minority in-universe and a victim of attempted slave trafficking is revealed to be a slave trader. i feel like i shouldn't have to explain why that's just blatantly awful in so many ways.

everytime someone complains about michi i have to bury my face in my arms because no you don't get it my girl is such a clear victim of bad writing. there's so many better directions her character could've went than "nya~ i want to ruin laurmau and sell kids~"

imo i think someone should run an aphmau-confessions account so we can get some actual controversial opinions. some of you will fumble over yourselves to say, "i don't like the love triangle" and it's like ??? daring today, aren't we

rebirth makes my head spin because gosh i can see all of the dominoes that were being lined up.

after visher's death, aphmau darkly says she wants whoever killed him "gone," and then ironically becomes acquainted with his murderer a few days after.

at the same time, aphmau developes a budding friendship with zenix, who we know ends up betraying the village.

zenix would probably join a shadow knight group with gene and sasha, all of who aphmau would have a personal vendetta against and would want to hunt down. this would cause conflict with garroth who'd want to protect zenix, and set the stage for the introduction of dante who's also searching for his brother.

and gene's connected with zane, who sent the order to kill visher, and the shadow lord. without even meeting them properly it already sets up aphmau inevitably going against the major villains of the series. it's so good guys.

i'm still in awe of how they rewrote aphmau for rebirth because god it's so good. like, she's a goddess's reincarnated vessel summoned to the world without their memories??? i'm biting my fist man that's such a great way of retooling aphmau's identity as a letsplayer who spawned into their world to begin a playthrough.

and i love the added mystery of her markings for the new fans to puzzle over and the hint she knew garroth from her past life and watching her develope into her own person and
