LUCK GENSHIN VOICE LINES.
Tumblr media
hello : " greetings, heroic traveler. i've heard quite a lot about you. hm? who am i? ah, my apologies. i've seem to have forgotten myself. i am Luck Gandor, third head of the Gandor Family name. i hope i'm not imposing when i say we can be of great help to one another. "
chat -- poetry : " since you seem to be taking your time, i'll take this opportunity to catch up on a little reading, if you don't mind . . . "
chat -- in the open : " as much as i love the sun, we shouldn't linger about. you never know what could be waiting for us. "
chat -- profit : " as they say : time is money. don't waste mine, if you please. "
when it rains : " thankfully, i'm not wearing my good clothes. now i can enjoy myself without having to fret over the potential water damage. "
when it snows : " you have packed for inclement weather, yes? is . . . that all you have? oh. oh dear . . . remind me to buy you a good snezhnayan coat the next time we go to Liyue Harbor. "
when the sun is out : " excellent. the roads should be good and clear, supposing we aren't stopped by traffic . . . i know quite a few good short cuts, if we are in need of time. "
when it is windy : " be sure to have a good grip on your -- oh. well, there goes my hat. let that be a lesson unto you . . . and for me. thankfully, i've brought a spare. "
during a thunderstorm : " we should head to the nearest shelter when possible. as much as i adore a good downpour, i'd hate for you to get struck by lightning due to my negligence. "
good morning : " ah, good. i didn't have to wake you. i suppose you would like some breakfast, hm? unfortunately, all i have is this cup of coffee right now . . . hm? why, i've only had two so far. well, two since the sun has risen . . . "
good afternoon : " are you getting tired, by any chance? if so, i'd recommend a short rest. don't worry, i'll wake you if anything happens. i'd rather you be alert when it starts to get dark than to lose energy fighting off exhaustion. "
good evening : " excuse me for the cliche, but aren't sunsets beautiful? i quite like the twilight. the world is so different when it's been cast in shadow . . . "
good night : " are you off to bed? well, then, have a good night's rest. i'll be up for awhile yet . . . don't worry about me. i'm used to working in the dark. it's my most ideal environment. "
about luck - rumors : " my, people do have an active imagination, don't they? the things they say about me are rather amusing. i suppose i can be a little . . . cold, but they like to envision me as some sort of monster rather than a man making do with what he must. haha . . . well, i suppose if it makes them feel safe, i could play the role of their social pariah. "
about luck - business : " it's been well. what can i say? i have no right to complain. naturally, like any business, there are some rather . . . unforeseen challenges, but that's what makes it interesting, wouldn't you agree? no? haha, well, i suppose nothing is challenge to you. first dragons, then gods . . . a managerial position would be a cake walk for you, wouldn't it? "
about us - companionship : " i would rather not give any false impressions : do not mistake my amiability as one for friendship. we are mutually benefitting acquaintances, nothing more. i sincerely doubt you and i have much in common beyond our initial goals. "
about us - partners : " you seem to have an affinity for completing tasks. and with all due efficiency. it's almost a shame, really . . . oh, nothing. i was just thinking how much easier my occupation would be if i had more people like you under my guidance. alas, i don't think you're in the market for a steady job at the Coraggioso. perhaps we can settle on business associates, friend? "
about the vision : " oh, this little thing? it's merely a manifestation of my own will, a . . . promise to the family. don't think too hard on it. you could consider it a reward, if you would like. not a gift, though. gifts are unconditional. my Vision . . . is a product of devotion. "
something to share : " if i may, traveler -- you do not need to step in front of me for battle time & time again. i know i am not as . . . competent a fighter as you, but i am in no real danger. i -- well, this is complicated, and there isn't much you need to know the details of, but to keep it brief : death and injury can no longer touch me. think on as you'd like on what i have told you. "
interesting things : " the family business, hm? well, there isn't much to say on it. back in Fontaine, we're known for running quite a populous jazz hall -- the Coraggioso. of course, we took . . . other avenues to notoriety . . . would you like to know a little family secret? we're quite renown for our fire - water and whisky. the Coraggioso is one of the only venues where you can order such high quality drinks. under the table, though, of course. apparently, the alcohol content of such exceeds legal limit . . . a small affair, really, but we can't be too careful now, can we? "
more about luck - i : " ah, you're looking at my book, yes? it's . . . not that interesting, i'm afraid. it's merely a book of poems i had picked up from the Wanwen Bookhouse. you are free to peruse it, though, should you wish. "
more about luck - ii : " if you must know, Luck wasn't my birth name. once upon a time, i used to go by Lukyan . . . you're giving me a curious stare. is it because it sounds Snezhnayan? heh. "
more about luck - iii : " it wasn't easy for my father to have built the Coraggioso. Fontaine is great for many a reason, but it has never been kind to those seeking asylum. like any nation, it wasn't particularly open to outsiders . . . those around our little neighborhood tried their hardest to break our spirits. there was only so much for our father to take. "
more about luck - iv : " it didn't get any easier when we were in charge. still to the eyes of Fontaine, we were children of a foreigner. and a trouble - making one at that, apparently. trying to maintain the Coraggioso from falling under collapse . . . you wish for me to speak plainly, don't you? next time, i'll be more open, but i haven't been dishonest with you either. know this. "
more about luck - v : " you are correct in your estimations : there is more to the family business besides a few connected jazz halls. but, what does it matter? even if we had kept our hands clean, we wouldn't be able to take care of our own . . . besides, no family with a lineage is free from sin. we are just more honest about it. like any other, there is pride and there is duty. you could say we just don't have the luxury to clean the bloodstains so thoroughly. "
luck's hobbies : " what i . . . do in my free time? i . . . well, that is coming by less and less frequently. most of my time is spent on business matters, but . . . i suppose, when a break comes along, i like to fill it up by reading or playing a card game. if you would like, i could teach you a few. black jack or poker? "
luck's troubles : " this 'dawn knight' business is a headache to sort out. the law is one thing, but vigilantes are another. bound by no rules or obligations, if one is not careful, they could effectively undo all the hard work i've put into maintaining our business . . . you speak as if you know them personally. as much as i appreciate the assurances, putting my guard down is not an option. i'll have to drop by our Mondstadt establishment . . . "
favorite food : " . . . i . . . quite like sweets. my brother is much more of a cook than he is a baker, but . . . i do miss trying his attempts at tiramisu. "
least favorite food : " i've heard there's been quite the surge in popularity for slime - based meals, but i can't imagine for the life of me why. the texture . . . nngh, no. i'll have to pass. "
receiving a gift - i : " this is . . . rather good. almost on par with Berga's cooking. ah, may i have another? "
receiving a gift - ii : " not bad . . . could use a little more oregano, in my opinion, but . . . to one's own, i suppose. "
receiving a gift - iii : " i . . . hm. my apologies, i think i'm still a little full from lunch. perhaps . . . you could give that to someone else, instead? "
birthday : " ah, happy birthday, dear friend. it's come to my attention that today is a special day for you. if so, then i'll let you handle the itinerary for the day. wherever you wish to go, i'll go, and whatever you wish to do, i'll accompany you as well. do not worry, i have some flexibility to my schedule. i have another 364 days to take those meetings. "
feelings about ascension - intro : " what have we here? improvement? i see . . . so you've desired to teach me better ways of defending myself? alright, i'm listening . . . "
feelings about ascension - building up : " my, if my brothers could see me now . . . hm, no. i shouldn't get cocky. there is still room for improvement, after all, and i'm nowhere close to the likes of Berga or Keith, let alone Claire, of all people. "
feelings about ascension - climax : " say what you will about power, my marksmanship has improved quite significantly. i'd have to thank you for all the wonderful target practice you've given me, friend. "
feelings about ascension - conclusion : " so this is all you have to teach me . . . well, your guidance in such matters is much appreciated. i suppose this will be more than sufficient to ensure the family business will flourish. at the very least, no one will be brazen enough to attack me openly, or else they have all of Hell to pay for. "

GENSHIN IMPACT VERSE POST.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
legal name. Lukyan Savinovich Gandilov Lukas Gandor nickname. Luka, Lukasha Luck age. 23 - 24 years old. However, through a series of strange coincidences & fortune, Luck is now among the few who could be considered long living.
unbeknownst to even the Hydro Archon, there is a small community of alchemy - created immortals within the Fontaine capital. starting from as far back as 2 centuries ago, a group of immigrated alchemists, seeking to escape prosecution for their practice, contacted a quote - unquote 'demon' to provide them the much coveted 'Grand Panacea' -- a liquor that, once imbibed, would grant you safety from age, illness, and injury. only one alchemist, Maiza Avaro, was granted the knowledge of how it was made. of course, no such Grand Panacea would come without its limits: those who partake in the liquor cannot hide their identities from one another -- they are forced to speak their true name in the presence of a fellow immortal. and, once they tire of life, they may seek one of their comrades out to 'devour' them -- an act of pressing a right hand upon the head of the immortal in question and thinking to themselves 'i wish to devour.' the one who devours gains knowledge from that immortal's life -- their memories, experiences, emotions, all of it. as you can imagine, a traveling group full of those who seek nothing but knowledge would find such circumstances tempting. slighted by Maiza's refusal to share such knowledge with the world, an alchemist named Szilard Quates started a mass 'devouring' spree in the hopes of acquiring said knowledge. among the victims was Maiza's younger brother, Gretto Avaro, who knew half of the Grand Panacea's formula from his older brother. Szilard disappeared during the same night, leaving the survivors scattered & fretful for his return. two centuries of silence followed. Maiza came to join the Martillo camorra -- a crime family claiming to be separate from the likes of the Gandors & the Runoratas -- and Szilard had set up a vast network in order to learn the formula on his own. on the day of his success, though, he was thwarted by a recently risen Martillo executive, a pair of eccentric robbers, his own created homunculus, and a spiraling staircase going down and down and down . . .
vision. cryo weapon. dual pistols ( catalyst ) species. human ( fox variant ) immortal constellation. vulpis fortunae country of origin. snezhnaya fontaine affiliation. the Gandor Family
on the surface, the Gandor Family seems like a respectable business. throughout most of the countries in Teyvat, they hold dominion over a prestigious chain of jazz halls, where patrons can come in to quietly imbibe their drink of choice while listening to the sonorous chorus of pianos & saxophones upon the stage. their most well - known and sought after establishment is the original Coraggioso in Fontaine proper. however, for those unable to make the journey, there are places of business with a similar atmosphere in Mondstadt, Liyue, and Sumeru. Luck is currently in the process of attaining a clearance for the now newly opened country of Inazuma. as any good regular of the Coraggioso would know, though, the Gandors' roots are much less wholesome than they appear. the original jazz hall gained its notoriety from being among one of the first speakeasies in Fontaine -- secret places citizens can frequent to bypass the Hydro Archon's harsh regulations on alcohol & liquor. this pattern is maintained throughout all the local establishments owned by the Gandors in Teyvat ; with only the knowledge of a secret password ( acquired through only the softest of whispers ), one can enter the real world beneath the jazz halls' flimsy mask of legality. in this world, you can gamble & drink to your heart's content -- so long as you are able to provide the Mora, of course. the Gandors do have other business ventures, among which include a protection racket. many places of business use them as a means of keeping their local edifices safe from harm when the legal authorities are incapable of being trusted. supposing you pay your dues on time, they can be quite reliable at fear - mongering. not that it is ever recommended for those aboveboard to do business with the Gandor Family lot . . . but, they have yet to dry up their coffers, almost in spite of their reputation. in speakeasy circles, the Gandors are most known for their quality production of fire - water and whisky, among which very few can compare in countries outside of Snezhnaya. as a result, their jazz halls are frequently populated by Snezhnayan travelers, businessmen, and off - duty Fatui soldiers ( on the grounds they behave themselves ). they also gain quite a bit of love from those intrigued by their wider selections, notably in Mondstadt & Liyue. the Sumeru location tends to be quite popular for mercenaries, due to the ease with which they can find business prospects there -- scholars & researchers tied to the Akademiya tend to avoid the establishment, if they have no need to meet or speak with Luck within its walls.
rank. third 'boss,' in charge of intelligence, information, and strategy.
due to the sprawling nature of the Gandors' family business, Luck is required to see to their establishments outside of Fontaine in person to ensure all is smooth - sailing. he also handles foreign business matters, being the 'face' of the family & the most well - spoken of the three. at this current conjecture, Inazuma's new foreign policy has granted Luck an ability to start placing down connections, in the hopes he will eventually be able to place an aboveground business there -- thereby masking their less - than - legal matters underneath. he returns home after long periods of traveling, but is often not present in Fontaine with his brothers as a result.
history. Luck recalls very little of their homeland. The Gandors, once known as the Gandilovs, are Snezhnayan immigrants victims to a system seeking to 'sanitize' their existence. Thus, their old birth names have been effectively watered down. Lukyan Savinovich Gandilov is now merely Lukas Gandor -- Luck Gandor, practically. He grew up with only the memories of this name, and nothing else. His father, Savio ( formerly Savin ), began to build a criminal empire based on connections & experience, having tried but failed to live peacefully in the Fontaine capital slums. Luck's life held no little excitement as a result of this chosen career, having now grown up only with the memories & knowledge of the Fontainian underworld. When their father died, Luck was 12. His brothers, along with himself, took the family business into their own hands, having a sort of pride watching their father pour blood, sweat, and tears over its functionality. Luck became the family's youngest capo at age 13 and, with that, gained his Cryo Vision. His life grew incredibly turbulent thereafter, refusing to cease thrill after thrill, death after death, blood after blood. Luck didn't imagine he could live after 20 -- now he was praying to barely see the cusp of age 30. however, on a fateful day, his prayers came true in the most twisted way possible -- immortality. unsought, unprovoked, brought to him by the most bizarre circumstances concocted by the coincidences of his best friend & co. now, a year or so after the shock has settled, Luck has found himself caught in a new conundrum of fear -- the apathy now lurking behind the cheapness of his own life, to which he can expend multiple & multiple times. as he crosses over Teyvat with his newfound companion in tow -- a young, excitable Pyro sword - wielder he had met under adverse circumstances -- he can't help but wonder what new miserable fate the Archons had in store for him.

meechi. i've been thinking on Luck's established relation with the Akademiya for a bit today. In reference, he provides 'resources' and 'services' to scholars / researchers on the down - low when the Akademiya is incapable of producing the desired items, among which includes a good substantial bit of funding. However, the implication in this is that they were incapable of procuring those resources on their own, or the Akademiya refused to provide funding for their research prospects. As such, Luck's involvement with the scholars tends to be borderline illegal or dangerous. That being said, getting Luck's backing is no easy task. Far from it. A lot of academics assume that a promise of wealth or power would make Luck gloss over the petty details, but he won't. Much to their chagrin, he is just as scrutinizing as the Akademiya. While he won't give hard no's, there needs to be an understanding from the scholar in question on how dangerous their work could be, that a pursuit of knowledge could come with its own unwarranted consequences. Luck won't provide services to those unwilling to see or accept the potentials that come from dangerous research ; he won't risk the lives of his men or the stability of his business on the promise of a foolish student who ended up in way over their head. In this way, Luck could be exceptionally more frightening than any academic board or matra, especially since he occupies a world most researchers would be wholly unfamiliar with. He does business with the scholars because it provides a good extra bit of funding & foot traffic for his business in Sumeru ; however, Luck isn't completely unwise as to pursue potential riches when the payout is practically inconceivable. He won't chase knowledge for the sake of knowledge, but . . . he is moved by those impassioned for their research, who want to discover those secrets, whatever the cost may bring them. There is a larger risk involved if they disappoint Luck or lead his men into danger, but if this is something they can comprehend & still accept as a reasonable consequence, Luck has a very hard time saying no.

RUMORS SPECULATING ON THE ‘PROFESSION’ OF A HANDSOME OUTLANDER.
from a bartender at the Angel’s Share :
“ that one? you don’t know him? that’s Mr. Luck Gandor. he’s a . . . regular of Mondstadt, you could say. he’s no local of ours. yeah, he looks the part -- compared to most people from Fontaine, he dresses pretty modestly. and, since he tends to hang around here for some business or whatever, most people are pretty familiar with him & his company. although, the young lass with the swords is pretty new . . . gotta say, i’ve never seen him correspond with a lot of women. especially on a professional basis, so i’m a little surprised . . . hey, word of advice? i know you’re capable of handling yourself, but since you’re a friend of master diluc, i’d feel pretty bad if i at least don’t give you the warning : you should stay away from that guy. he looks pretty friendly, but he’s one of those types, y’know? the kind that acts like all is business, but the business they’re in is one of trouble . . . just, don’t stick around him, if you can. i’ve seen & heard enough to know that people who associate with him don’t tend to last very long. “
from a regular at the Cat’s Tail :
“ hey, shhhh! not so loud! you don’t want that guy to hear us, right? don’t give me that look, that guy’s got ears everywhere! don’t believe me? fine, you go blabbing his name out in the middle of Mondstadt, and see where that gets you. don’t come running to me when you find yourselves awake at the bottom of a casket . . . listen, i have a friend who owed that guy just a bit of a cash. nothing much really, just . . . y’know, an amount. and, they fell a little bit behind on the day they promised to pay up. they really did mean to, they just were short a bit of Mora, but that didn’t matter to him now, did it? almost got my friend pummeled to an early afterlife! the sisters had to nurse their wounds for weeks, and the guy still had the audacity to demand my friend to pay up. it cost ‘em every bit of Mora not to get sent there again. i don’t think they would’ve survived, if they were . . . point is, you shouldn’t be asking about him. shouldn’t even be here, bringing it up! if you know what’s good for you, you should wash your hands of everything this guy is. don’t talk to him, don’t talk about him, don’t go to his establishments, don’t go to any -- what? no, i’m not telling you. no, that’s a death sentence. just, forget i even said anything about, alright? the only places you should go to get a drink are the Angel’s Share or the Cat’s Tail. in fact, as far as i’m concerned, those are the only places to get a drink in town. get away from me before you get a target on my back! “
from a resident of Yujing Terrace :
“ hm? why, yes, i’m familiar with that young man. Mr. Gandor, is it? he owns quite a sizable property here. possibly one of the few non - locals who can afford such a luxury. i find him . . . an interesting character. most people are scared stiff of the gentleman, and for good reason -- i’d be quite naive to say i don’t see his more problematic elements. but, he’s a true professional! and quite the intellectual, at that! i’ve had the honor of dining with him for a night. oh, i assure you. it was all above board. i have no interest investing myself in his less savory affairs. we were discussing a sale of valuable materials i had acquired through trade. i didn’t have a particular use for them, so i was interested in selling. as it turns out, Mr. Gandor was interested in buying, so i naturally pushed aside my reservations. besides, i was curious. i wanted to know what such a man was like and, to be quite honest, my expectations weren’t very high. surely, a man with that sort of reputation ought to be less than refined, correct? well, as it turns out, quite the opposite! Not only was he professional & well - versed in all manner of topics, but he turned out to be quite charming & affable. Perhaps a tad too shrewd for my own liking, but that was only because i was so determined to make a profitable sell. i’m sure under more casual circumstances, he’d be quite delightful. not that i suggest getting too familiar with him, of course, but an occasional conversation shouldn’t hurt you. if anything, i think you’d learn a thing or two. “
from an employee of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor :
“ Mr. Gandor? of course i recognize that name! he’s one of our most important & frequent customers, after all! not that we’ve ever struggled with business -- people die all the time, and they will always need to be taken care of, but it would certainly be harder for us if Mr. Gandor didn’t use our services! in fact, i think both the Director and Zhongli are quite fond of him. or, at the very least, they speak very highly of him. i can’t say i ever really met Mr. Gandor myself, save for the occasional run - ins, but he seems pleasant enough. i’m well aware of what people say about him, and perhaps his frequency in our services should be alarming, but he doesn’t strike me as cruel. i’ve been in this line of work long enough to know when people respect the dead & when they don’t, and Mr. Gandor certainly does. there’s an air to him that feels very much like a funeral itself, like Death is right beside him. Or, that he is Death. i’m sure to most everyone else that sort of personality is uncomfortable, but in a funeral parlor such as ours, it’s one we feel quite at home by! if you see Mr. Gandor, please do tell him to give us a more casual visit some time! “
from a clerk at the Yae Publishing House :
“ oh, yes, that young man has been dropping by for quite awhile now. is there something you need from him? oh? dangerous, you say? oh, i’m not quite sure about that. if he was, Lady Yae surely would’ve done something by now about him, wouldn’t you think? besides, i can’t really find anyone who buys light novels like he does all that intimidating . . . you seem confused? he doesn’t strike you as the light novel type? no, he certainly doesn’t, does he? but, aren’t we all full of surprises! there are a number of people who drop by to pick up books that i would never think in a million years would be the type to read something like Onibudou, so his appearance isn’t all that shocking to me. although, his selection is rather interesting. i mean, for sure, looks can be misleading, but it’s not every day you have someone collect the kinds of books he does. there is your usual light novel faire, of course, but then he proceeds to pick out & ask about various poetry collections and lengthier books that get a sale about every once a month, if they’re lucky. i’ve never seen someone with such a wide range in book tastes . . . now that you mention it, i did hear him mutter something about a friend once. could it be . . . ? well, now i can’t find him scary. if he’s buying these sorts of stories for a friend, i have to think he’s got a kind soul, wouldn’t you agree? it’s hard to consider someone a villain when they do little things like this for people. “
from an officer under the Tenryou Commission :
“ hey, you know anything about this outlander? huh, why you asking me? isn’t it normal to be suspicious of your lot? well, i’ll admit, this guy reeks of trouble. even by outlander standards, he’s got guilty written all over him. we haven’t received a complaint or anything yet, but c’mon. that guy is obviously up to something bad here. look, between you and me, i’m glad the Almighty Shogun had lifted up the Sakoku Degree & all that, but it does invite a bit of trouble, doesn’t it? sure, some foreigners want to do business with us & that’s all fine and good, but what about those who’s business it is to promote villainy? i don’t care how the general public perceive him. eh? yeah, he’s real popular with the folks around here for some reason. i don’t know why ; maybe it’s ‘cuz he’s so well - traveled or something. after all, most of us have never left Inazuma in our lives, but still, it’s weird, right? like, there’s got to be more there. look, i’ve overheard him & that katana - wielding girlie talking about some ‘business’ or whatever, and it didn’t sound too good. it’s not enough to prosecute either of them, but i still think it’d be good to keep an eye on them. they’ve already been in a few scrapes, but that was with ronin & they both claim self - defense to the whole thing. i don’t know what they’re up to, but nobody goes out looking for trouble like they do, you know? “

meechi. once more thinking about the Gandor Family and their elemental Visions in Genshin AU. So far, Alba and I have established in our Genshin Baccano! lore that the Gandors have Pyro (Maria), Dendro (Tick), Cryo (Luck), Geo (Berga), and Electro (Keith) users. But, they lack Hydro & Anemo elements. I feel that is so bizarrely fitting for them as an organization, considering they’re well - known for their obstinacy. As a collective, I would never describe them as ‘carefree,’ ‘flexible,’ or ‘go with the flow’ types. They’re vindictive, determined, immovable, and absolute. Everything that Anemo & Hydro aren’t. It would make sense they’d have a lack of those elements, because the organizational culture doesn’t naturally gravitate the types of people who would have those!

meechi. because i’ve been discussing them at length on Discord, here are the thoughts behind what element the Gandor brothers’ Visions are :
Keith : Electro. Initially, I was thinking Cryo given his general demeanor, but over time, I realized how much more sense Electro made for his overall characterization. He’s silent, but striking. He speaks very little and, when he does, it’s direct & to the point. He often acts on his own, much to the grief of his younger brothers. His stare is notably very piercing, electrifying if you will, and his rare shows of powers strike like lightning and are often very memorable for the reader. Keith is terrifying in a very unpredictable way to those around him who may not be privy to his thoughts. He also has tie - ins to the ideal of eternity : his obstinacy, his attachment to maintaining the values of a generation long since passed, and his desire to see through the preservation of the Gandor family legacy. All - in - all, he’s a very Electro - coded character.
Berga : Geo! This one I had a difficult time deciding, because I could see him also being Pyro. However, I decided on Geo from a couple different discussions I’ve had : while he’s passionate, it’s not from a personal interest or belief. He’s not nearly as free - spirited as most Pyro users are, and his ambition is perhaps more stemmed from a desire to ‘protect the family, more importantly his brothers’ as their Fear, which is much more aligned with Geo principles than Pyro ones. He is also a bit of a rock, and is much more the type to settle down. He’s social & loud, but he’s also thick - headed & it can often times feel like you’re talking to a wall. At the end of the day, Berga acts as his brothers’ physical shield by use of his fists, body, or sheer intimidating presence.
Luck : Cryo, babey. Listen, there’s obviously a lot I can go into for this decision. For one, I think love & family are, in fact, the central hallmarks of his character. Not the only aspects, but he does a lot of the things he do out of a sense of familial obligation & adoration. He loves & cares so incredibly deeply as a person, and it’s his biggest weakness. So, he freezes himself to make it impossible to hurt him, he numbs himself so he can survive. There’s a certain coldness to his presence, and his smiles can be chilling. Luck acts unpleasantly to those trying to get close to him, enough so that others may accuse him of being frigid. He chose to do that to himself, actively, so he can do what needs to be done for the sake of the family. He dons this ice - cold mask, so that nobody can doubt him or his brothers, so that nobody can try to come & hurt them. When he lets people in, Luck melts and they find the most caring person under all that chill & snow. He is so full of love for those in his life already, he can’t fathom letting in other people -- he doesn’t feel a sadness for being alone romantically, because he isn’t truly ever alone with his friends & family by his side. And they matter to him more than any other stranger. Luck loves & he loves so much that it really hurts when his heart breaks -- it’s why he gives it out so sparingly to people. It’s why it bothers him so much not to feel anything at all. Cryo is the BEST Vision element to represent that aspect of his characterization.

meechi. my favorite little bit of Gandor Genshin lore is now the fact they're most renown for their making of fire - water and whisky in Fontaine. Which they can't legally sell because it's alcoholic content is way above what's allowed. Which they absolutely scoff at, definitely. You go to the Alveare for their unique, honeyed blends. You go to the Coraggioso if you want to really get drunk.

Meechi. because I had never managed to write it down anywhere on here, Luck is a fox - hybrid in Genshin verse, in a similar fashion to Yae Miko. He’s got fox ears & a tail! I’m also a lil’ in love with the idea of locals referring to him as the Black Fox of Fontaine / the Gandor Black Fox / etc.

meechi. thinking about my various little bits of Genshin lore regarding the Gandors’ cultural background. i may end up fleshing them out a bit more, but generally speaking, i wanted to keep the ‘children of immigrants’ narrative because that honestly is pretty influential to how i write Luck. while he may feel at home in the country he grew up in, he’s always had this understanding that it wasn’t for them, and it never will be -- that they had to make due in a system that would never support or hold them up in the same category as those born naturally to it. He has very strong cultural roots that are outside of the nation he resides in, so it’s frequent theme of his. I never really fleshed out the part of Snezhnaya his family was from, though. All that’s been occupied in my mind was basically Italy but for some reason it’s in Russia now.

meechi. y'know, i wonder . . . as i was playing through Alhaitham's quest and forbidden research ( such as that of 'human evolution' ) was brought up, i wonder if alchemy - based immortality would be considered a taboo research subject in the Akademiya. i definitely think it would qualify, at least the way Baccano! immortality is conceived ( considering you have to go through the basis of a summoning ritual with a supernatural entity in order to even gain the knowledge of how to make the elixir ). it's just interesting, since manufactured immortality for mortals may be an inclination towards research regarding 'godhood' and 'evolution.'

meechi. i feel Luck would enjoy the people & culture of Sumeru ; however, he would have a natural dislike of the Akademiya as an institution. This isn’t because of any awareness towards their activities or the Akasha, but rather that he disagrees with the notion that knowledge ought to be restricted outright. I haven’t touched on it much, but Luck is a firm believer of easy access to education & having those resources provided for. Not everyone is suited for academia, but those who have interests in those pursuits ought to have the means to pursue them freely & without cost. The fact education is only a benefit of the wealthy & powerful & supposedly talented displeases him greatly, and the Akademiya promoting such an idea makes him less inclined to favor them. He’s smart enough to know that the Akademiya is hoarding knowledge for their own personal self - interest, rather than the genuine interest of the people. And it’s for that reason he doesn’t readily trust them, even if he’s unaware of the full extent of their dubious activities.

“Look, you’re either going to help, or you aren’t. Which one is it going to be?”

Luck moved the vial through the air, watching the discolored liquid inside slosh about with a curious air. It looked to be denser than water, but not quite as thick as to be considered gelatinous. Perhaps even thinner than oil or ink. No, only oil. It was, perhaps, most analogous to ink itself, but the coloration was off -- a pale, sickly green. It was almost laughably obvious that this was venom ; he had never been one for theatrics, but Luck swore he saw a play with this exact vial in hand. Hell, he's certain there was an exact scenario of two characters colluding even. although, their plan fails, if i recall. surely we may have better fortune than that . . . after all, heroes rarely ever win off stage. Luck held back his amused smile as he considered the curious container some more, weighing it in his palm. His eyes didn't move from the now settling green liquid as he answered Miss Sokolova's question patiently, unbothered by her flippant tone. " you mistake me, miss. i had not meant to infer outright that i would not come to your aid. i was only asking the rudimentary questions. after all, you did bring me under unknown circumstances. then, you asked me to fulfill a request -- a dangerous one, at that -- that would put those under my employ at risk. i have a certain right to know for what purposes you intend. i'm not very popular with the Akademiya, as you should be aware. " The sages, at least, didn't seem all that fond of him. And, he suspected the same could be said about the matra. It wasn't unusual for some of the lower ranking scholars to use Luck's 'resources' as a means of gaining an upper hand in their research -- which, well, he wasn't wholly familiar with academic principles, but he was certain that was breaking quite a few of them. However, Zarina Sokolova was not such a low - ranking scholar as to require his 'aid,' not for research purposes, which meant . . . either she's desperate, or i am walking into a trap. " . . . at least, allow me to ask one more question before i make a decision : why bother seeking us personally? surely, for such a simple task as to collect materials, someone else in the Akademiya can provide aid. you wouldn't need to go through such . . . back channels to get what you require. why put your research -- and yourself, no less -- at such incredible risk to be discovered by the matra? suppose i'm not careful enough with my tracks as to gain the General Mahamatra's attention . . . is it truly worth the gamble? "
