Already back in the kitchen, Jess hears the door to her office slam open, immediately followed by Gwen's voice. She chuckles, even without the words, exhaustion can be heard in the other's voice. ❝ Great timing, kid ⸺ there's a fresh pot brewing as we speak. ❞ Her words start loud, but reduce to a normal volume as she pops around the corner, her friend now in sight.

❝ Been up a while ? Or do you literally feel like a zombie and I gotta watch my brains over here ? ❞ Jess retracts her head back into the kitchen, pulling out two mugs, placing them beside the coffee pot on the counter.

Jessica takes her cannoli out the bag, brows knitted in fury as she sucks the cream from both ends, a tiny amount of pistachio crumbs hitting the pavement below. ❝ All I'm sayin' is it's kinda stupid to be a café, and remain open while you're out of coffee. No coffee, no espresso ⸺ what's the point ? It's literally in the name ! ❞

Sure, they were on there way to another coffee place. But Jess was certain they'd have to stand in line for an age at this one, just like they had at the one they were at a few minutes ago.

She's been back in her world for the most part lately, receiving a case that's required her full attention. It's been a while since she's had one like this, and it'll hopefully be a while until she takes on another like it. Crossing her arms on her desk, Jess tucks her face into them, maybe just a few minutes of shut eye. . .

@neonwebs sent: Lowering down next to her. "Felicity made tiramisu. I saved you a slice." Presenting her with a carefully handled travel box and fork. "I love you."

Neck snaps up at the first sound of him, hand flying to her heart. Fuck. She's not used to someone being able to sneak up on her. Or, maybe she's just more tired than she thought, that's what she'll keep telling herself, anyway.

However, upon hearing his explanation, her thankful, emerald orbs dart between the box and Miguel as she takes it from him, setting it on the desk. The sweet gesture enough to temporarily cloud all her stressors, to make her feel special. He's so good at that. ❝ Tiramisu ? ❞ She hums, giving him a peck on the cheek. ❝ I love you, too, Miggy. ❞

Without an ounce of grace, Jessica rips the lid off the neatly packaged box, fork in her mouth already as she wiggles her fingers. ❝ I'll tell ya, whoever decided to put coffee in a cake ⸺ genius. ❞ Taking a bite, she moans dramatically, a thumb raising in approval before pulling him in for a kiss. Fel did good, Miguel was right to bring her a slice.

Swallowing down two more bites, she raises a questioning brow, a mischievous smile on her face. ❝ Y'know. . . You're hardly in my office. . . ❞ Pat pat pat on the edge of her desk with a chorus of giggles, a set of pleading eyes. ❝ Why don't cha hop on up here, I'll feeeed youuuu, ❞ she sings, stabbing at the sponge with her fork.

Swinging her feet as she sits on the edge of his desk, coffee in one hand and the last bite of a bear claw in the other, she leans over whatever it is he's working on. A quick glance to his face confirms what she suspected ⸺ stressed, working too hard already, it's barely 9 a.m.

❝ Migs, it's a nice morning, y'know. Maybe we should go for a walk. ❞ Setting her coffee down, Jess slips down from her perch, shoving the final bit of pastry into her mouth. She gives her hands a quick swipe against her pants, wrapping her them around Miguel's arm and gently tugging. ❝ Or, a bike ride. Either way, we should do something ⸺ get out for a bit. Just for a bit, I promise. ❞

Jessica holds up a hand, eager smile plastered on her face as she gazes at the small box. ❝ Thank you, Fel. That was awfully considerate of ya. ❞ Or, maybe, Jess had just done a good job of letting the Society know what a fiend for food she is. Either way, the gesture was appreciated. ❝ Matcha and chocolate, hm ? ❞ she muses, approaching the box with raised, wiggling fingers, excited to see what goodies awaited her.

Cookies ! And they look damn adorable. The Spider-Woman picks up three at once, before shoving another into her mouth. The whole thing. ❝ Mmf ⸺ they're delicious ⸺ ❞ Though she speaks with her mouth full, a hand raises to at least cover it.

Having a moment to chew over the treat with her mouth closed, Felicity's greeting finally registered in her head. ❝ Ms. Drew ? ❞ Jess finally questions, swallowing her bite. She's been referred as such by various S.H.I.E.L.D members for well over a decade now, but, hearing it come from someone younger than her ? Sheesh ⸺ she's not that old. ❝ You can call me Jess, kid. Equal playing field. ❞

She and her partner Lindsay McCabe end up in Madripoor and open their own P.I. firm, before returning to the states, where Jessica mentors the third Spider-Woman: Mattie Franklin.

v. family-woman. ⸻ heavily influenced by Spider-Woman 2015, Spider-Woman 2016, Captain Marvel 2019 and Spider-Woman 2020 ; she’s got her baby in this one !!! Only thing is, I really disagree with a lot that happens in her 2015 and 2016 runs — including her sudden decision to get pregnant ( I can go into reasons why but I won’t here LOL ). So, my favourite headcanon I have for Gerry is that he’s actually Clint Barton’s son — as I just see him and Jess still hooking up on occasion. If plotted beforehand, I’d most likely be willing to change this headcanon for something we’ve discussed. But, as it typically stands, Gerry secretly being Clint’s is my canon. Though, this is still a multi-ship verse.
