Sesshomaru frames Part 137 (Yashahime S1)
When Zero confronted him about using Tenseiga on her. He had no other choice. You can tell he had mixed feelings bringing back the woman who cursed his wife and trying to kill his daughters. He did it for Rin's sake. 💔 and also for the fact he couldn't bear to lose her.

Me explaining sessrin scenes to neurotypicals once again:
Sess finds it extremely difficult to express his emotions. That’s why he has Jaken. That’s why we KNOW Rin is the only person he’s ever truly cared for - because her second death was so devastating to him that he started to cry and rage.
When Rin asks to see her daughters, Sess immediately turns around to figure out how he can either 1. Further motivate Towa and Setsuna or 2. Do what Rin asked him and bring her their kids. He doesn’t want to entertain option 2, but it’s there.
THAT’S WHY when Rin further tells him that Towa is CRYING, sess stops dead in his tracks. Again, for those not paying attention in class, Sess never stops for anyone. He LISTENS to Rin, and he’s concerned about Towa - Jaken immediately points out that the new moon is out so she’s particularly weak. The situation had become more dire.
It’s easy to dismiss Sess as being emotionless when he is in fact showing tremendous restraint despite his emotional state. “He doesn’t speak to his wife!” He has entire conversations with her, Rin knows his love language.

What are your theory as to why Sunrise keeps clinging to the Inuyasha rights? They have been absorbed by Bandai, and yet they are clinging to them. Cash cow Gintama merch they still had their stickers on until recently, their own huge franchise Gundam given over to Bandai quite a while ago, but the Inuyasha anime? Still copyright 2009 Sunrise. They insisted on giving Sesshoumaru red and white also as a theme color, but now have given him a greyish purple because of the manga. But still they cling to it. Inuyasha is quite big internationally, is that why? But Gintama was the mos exported series for quite a while..! But many fans pretend it doesn't exist anymore after their stupid "what if" story (checked last merch for that, and that was in July 2022 while Inuyasha has long into next year, Moroha unsurprisingly has more of his self-insert than herself in her merch, that stupid tanuki thing). And I got to admit that I still feel a little queasy when I rewatch the first anime, especially later episodes with Rin after knowing what fantasies some of the people involved had 🤢.
When they finally lose the rights, will they be brought up quickly? As many fans want a more faithful adaptation, or will Bandai snatch them up again to take them and give to another company within them to animate? Do you think Takahashi will try getting involved with who they go to when that time comes? I really hope they'll tone down Miroku. The "eew, grooming" scene is really important so I wish it could be part somehow without one of the heroes being a creep, (it was before sumisawa got involved)
Imagine the cool transformation scenes where Inuyasha's ears and colors change during sunrise properly animated! I want to see it!
A new anime that will set it free from the grossness of the past..! Maybe even have Sesshoumaru's mother calling Sesshoumaru a hogosha and ask him why he chose a human rather than a yōkai or at the very least finding a wife first before adopting so he doesn't have to take care of her alone..! Or her in-character calling Rin another pet along with Jaken, which Jaken corrects with Sesshoumaru being Rin's hogosha but not correcting himself being called a pet because that seems in-character for him somehow. And hopefully a new translation of the manga as viz's Americanization where they'd rather introduce Hawaiian words rather than treating a Japanese series as Japanese..!
Sorry for babbling...
They are probably holding on to them because it’s more profitable to keep them than to sell them to someone else and I have zero idea tbh :( sunrise is so ass backwards they handled the yashahime controversy in the WORST possible way they consistently picked the worst option every single time and I hope we can get a new adaption but I don’t know if it’ll happen any time soon :( I’m sure inuyasha was more popular internationally and that’s a big ^^ but ranma 1/2 was huge too and it hasn’t gotten a new adaption urusei yatsura JUST got one I feel if we get one it won’t be for another 10/15 years but if we get one I hope it gets the fruit basket treatment inuyasha has its faults but it’s a really good series and introduced anime to an entire generation of adults but I feel inuyasha is left out of the “iconic 00s” anime conversation which is also :/ I’m going to be optimistic but I don’t know how realistic it’ll be but we didn’t think we’ll get a sequel (pedobait family show spin off spoof) so 👀
I would LOVE a prequel and would have preferred that over whatever yashahime was but only if sunrise does NOT touch it I want a studio who really cares about the source material and doesn’t treat these adaptions like fanfic and throws cheap plots in with even worse characterization for money most anime doesn’t run nonstop anymore so if we get one hopefully it gets the love it deserves

Toonami Weekly Recap 02/04/2023
My Hero Academia Season 6 Paranormal Liberation War Arc EP#121 (08) - League of Villains vs. U.A. Students: The Class 1-A and 1-B students led by Yaoyorozu work together to set up their trap, successfully getting Gigantomachia stuck in the ground, with the plan of forcing his mouth open and injecting a sedative into him to knock him out. They attempt to get in close to the League still on his back, but are pushed back by the villains, and literally blown away by the beast as they try to throw the sedatives inside. Dabi's fire prevents most of them from getting any closer, but using her Quirk, Mina is able to rush through to reach the beast. However, she ends up recognizing Gigantomachia from their encounter during middle school, and hesitates just long enough to miss her shot. He nearly crushes her, but is saved by Kirishima, who manages to hold onto his leg and successfully throws Mina's sedative canister into his mouth. The Pro Heroes return to battle, however everyone is stunned as Gigantomachia starts to transform his body. Meanwhile in Jaku, Shigaraki declares his conviction how heroes save people while abandoning their families, and that he is the result of them all ignoring the true problems of their society. He refuses to let up the assault, and ends up critically injuring Gran Torino, who at this time remembers back to the incident when Nana abandoned her son to save him, wondering if what they did was right. Shigaraki attempts to go after Eraser Head, but is held back by Deku and Ryukyu using all of their strength. Unbeknownst to them however, Shigaraki is in possession of a Quirk-Destroying Bullet, and uses his fingers to shoot it toward Eraser Head, hitting him in the leg.
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun EP#11 (24) - Value: Faputa knocks Reg out and then tries to attack Riko, believing her to be the reason for his amnesia. However, her companion Gaburoon intervenes, shielding Riko and taking heavy damage in the process. Nanachi and Belaf then arrive, with Belaf allowing Faputa to attack him. As she kills him, Belaf transfers his memories of Vueko and Irumyuui to her, wishing for her to find her own value. Faputa is left confused at the new memories she has received, giving the other villagers and Nanachi time to evacuate Riko. However, with the village barrier breached, monsters from the outside begin to enter and attack the villagers. Faputa tries to repel the beasts, but is quickly overwhelmed and left near death while Gaburoon sacrifices itself to protect her. As she lay dying, several villagers come and begin feeding parts of themselves to her, transferring their value to her so she can regenerate herself. Conflicted by this show of compassion by the villagers she's supposed to destroy, Faputa fully regenerates and heads back out to challenge the monsters again.
Yashahime: The Second Act EP#47 (23) - Father and Daughter: To defeat Osamu, Towa restores her ability and destroys Kirinmaru's right arm. The dying Riku vanishes from existence, leaving Kirinmaru's small horn. Towa overcomes her grief and reunites with Setsuna and Moroha. Sessh?maru and Kirinmaru continues to clash with Sessh?maru taunting Kirinmaru that he is acting more like a human. As Kirinmaru was about to land a hit on Sessh?maru, Sessh?maru easily overpowers Kirinmaru, unable to see it coming as the battle continues. Towa uses the Zanseiken for the final time to save Rion. Towa tells the others to carve their own fate as she uses the sword's power to save Rion from her regretful past and Osamu Kirin as she offers her body to her. Rion is now freed from her past and Osamu Kirin, but at the cost of Towa's mind as she collapses which worries Setsuna and Moroha that they truly will never see their warm-hearted relative again. Rion fuses into Towa's body, as it disappears with Rion herself still remains. Defeated and overwhelmed by Sessh?maru, Kirinmaru is sent up to the Grim Butterfly's interior and is reunited with Rion. He apologizes to her for everything as they bonded again. Rion requests Setsuna to cut the red thread of fate between her and her father. Kirinmaru and Rion forgive the girls. As Kirinmaru and Rion die peacefully, Zanseiken and Bakuseiken meld into a single sword of Amatsumikaboshi, and Towa returns to the real world alive. The others see the Grim Butterfly disappearing from the sky. Towa, Setsuna and Moroha are congratulated by their families, while returning to their peaceful lives.
Yashahime: The Second Act EP#48 (24) Finale - A Never-Ending Future: Per the request of a fully revitalized Riku, the Half-Demon Princess embark to the west to deal with demons of both low and high rank causing trouble, now that the balance of power has shifted with the demise of the Beast King of the Eastern Lands, by traveling to the western lands that were once dominated by their mighty grandfather.

and what pisses me off is that we could've had THIS with him and moroha. we could've had him helping her train, taking care of her when she's ill, and just...being the father figure he wished he could've had in his life. there's this repeating theme of him seeing himself in other youkai children and taking care of them, or at least emphasizing with them. he relates. he gets it. he doesn't want them suffering the way he did. and yashahime was like "hm...what if...amazing idea incoming...he didn't get to raise his daughter? lol."

I've been scratching my head recently trying to figure out why Sunrise greenlit Yashahime for a 24 episode season and then greenlit a second one, but only gave their newest Gundam 24 episodes total.
Is the answer so crass and soul-crushing as "Gundams don't need a lot of episodes because as long as there's a few cool seconds of animation people will buy the gunpla anyway"?
yeah lol

Why did Rin name them "Towa and Setsuna"? - The meaning behind their names
I received a question about their names. The meaning behind Moroha's name will be in another post. Since these were things we previously covered I'll have the master post on Towa and Setsuna's name here -
Tumblr media
In Yashahime Episode 15 Rin says "Towa and Setsuna" to their names. In Japanese - Towa and Setsuna mean One Moment and an Eternity. It's also said in each episode. "Towa and Setsuna, between us half-demon twins, two worlds exist at the same time; Human and Demon, Feudal Era and Present Day, Peace and War, Joy and Sorrow, Dreams and Reality, Now and Forever, and finally Love and Hate. A Feudal fairytale, Yashahime. We'll keep moving forward, overcoming the hurdles of destiny."
Katsuyuki: — What is the origin behind the names “Setsuna” and “Towa”?
**From the outset, I came up with “Setsuna” using “setsu” in “Sesshōmaru”. I chose the name “Towa” so that it would pair with “Setsuna”. https://ayuuria.tumblr.com/post/684458629287542784/yashahime-translation-official-guidebook
Setsuna means “moment” while Towa means “eternity”. - Hence, a pair.
Katsuyuki-san said that "Setsuna is a black Sesshoumaru" and Towa is "White Sesshoumaru" they are Yin and Yang.
https://www.tumblr.com/officialinuyasha/629334377576464384/this-was-a-translation-collab-between-esther-xiao Katsuyuki: "Setsuna and Towa inherited the "yin" and "yang" of Sesshomaru, respectively, but at the same time both yin and yang exist in Towa and Setsuna. Half-demons are self-contradicting existences, and that is the subject that has been passed down."
Rumiko also mentioned this https://ayuuria.tumblr.com/post/667032838479265792/yashahime-translation-official-guidebook
"Sumisawa-san told me “Towa is a white Sesshōmaru and Setsuna is a black Sesshōmaru”"
Tumblr media
You can also find "Rin to Sesshoumaru" theme song in Towa's theme song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9lofIKeL_0
The voice actors said Setsuna and Towa's relationship seems to reflect on Sesshoumaru and Rin's - https://www.tumblr.com/officialinuyasha/646757262237597697/staff-thoughts-on-sessrin
"Towa seems to close that gap like *that person* (Rin" "Their relationship seems like that of their parents" "If you look at Towa, I think you can figure out who the mother is"
Their names are black and white, past and present, human and demon, one moment and an eternity. A pair.

Toonami Weekly Recap 11/05/2022
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun EP#01 (14) - The Compass Pointed to the Darkness: In the apparent distant past, a young girl named Vueko escapes her abusive guardian and joins an expedition of pilgrims called the Ganja led by Wazukyan and Belaf to search for the mythical Golden City at the bottom of the Abyss. Using a special compass Vueko possesses, the Ganja are able to find the island the Abyss is located on despite all but one of their ships being lost in a storm. After negotiating with a native tribe where Vueko reluctantly trades her compass for information, the Ganja continue on their journey, though they encounter a native girl exiled from the tribe for being infertile. Vueko takes pity on the girl and Wazukyan agrees to allow her to accompany them as their guide. The Ganja delve deeper into the Abyss, learning about the Curse and fighting their way past many monsters until they reach a transport pod at the Ido Front in the fifth layer, which allows them to proceed onwards to the sixth layer. In the present[d], Riko, Reg, and Nanachi activate the transport pod with Riko's newly acquired White Whistle and it transports them down through the Sea of Corpses, an underground ocean filled with the bones and corpses of deceased wildlife. Due to the length of the trip and the uncertainty of the sixth layer, Reg recommends that Riko relieve herself inside the relative safety of the pod. Afterwards, the pod reaches its destination, and the trio exit and take their first steps into the sixth layer, the Capital of the Unreturned.
Yashahime: The Second Act EP#37 (13) - Zero's Wish: Towa has been tapped into the depths of her deepest fury and hatred, and had her demonic self to fully awaken, she is set on putting an end to Zero once and for all. Things escalate further as Zero has regained even greater demonic abilities from absorbing all of her seven Rainbow Pearls into her eyes and is set on personally sending Towa to Hell. Meanwhile, Kirinmaru hears the pinwheel (but cannot see Akuru) and gives chase to make use of the pinwheel's extraordinary time-based abilities. As Moroha and Jaken arrive right outside the Sacred Tree of Ages and Bone-Eater's Well, Moroha receives the Black Pearl from Sessh?maru. Before Towa is about to kill Zero, Setsuna arrives to stop Towa and tells her that if she kills Zero, their mother will also die. Towa says that she doesn't care about that and swears to get Zero back for everything she had done and then after Setsuna slaps her, Towa rages at Setsuna believing that she had a happy life and saying that she's forgotten about her. Setsuna then shows Towa a Dream Butterfly she received from Rin. Towa and Setsuna see the truth of what had happened in the forest one decade ago. It turns out Towa inadvertently left Setsuna behind, and Setsuna was left inconsolable before Rin and Jaken attached a Dream Butterfly to Setsuna to remove her memory of grievance. Towa, coming to her senses, and Setsuna tearfully embrace as they fully rekindle their bond. Towa thanks Zero for helping her realize the love she still has in her life, but Zero, knowing Towa has no reason to kill her, prepares to take her own life to take Rin with her to Hell. Setsuna quickly sees a second thread of fate connecting Zero to the spirit of the Great Dog-Demon, her grandfather, and cuts it. The deep regrets Zero held are revealed to be that she felt responsible for T?ga's death, and with the Rainbow Pearls gone, Zero sheds tears once more. However, T?ga's spirit consoles her and expresses his gratitude for her remaining who she is. Now at peace and ready to pass on, Zero severs the thread of fate connecting her and Rin before Riku kills her. Zero tells Setsuna and Towa that Kirinmaru's hatred of humans, as the samurai by the orders of Emperor Daigo who tried to kill him were no match for him, and half-demons comes from the fact that one such being, by the name Sakasa, had taken Rion's life in retribution for his master's own life. She dies afterwards, hoping to see her younger brother in Nirvana someday. The silver-scale curse is lifted, and Rin exits the Sacred Tree of Ages to reunite with Sesshomaru and a bawling Jaken. Back at the Bone-Eater's Well, Moroha is determined and hopeful at finally getting to meet her parents ever since she first saw their incarceration in the Border of the Afterlife. Kirinmaru steals the Black Pearl, and forces Moroha to choose between saving her parents or stealing the pinwheel.
