All this time, Injoo had been trying to run away to a far European island, whereas Inkyung insisted that she stayed back in Korea In the end, we see them do the opposite. And I'm not mad. For me, this meant they'd grown and learnt new things about themselves. Traumatic events change you, and once everything is finally over, you are freer to decide what you really want. Inkyung would do well studying and having a calming presence around. Her hunger and aggression needed a balance. Whereas, a home where her soul could finally rest was Injoo's dream. I wish she could have a friend that's not in prison, given her family moved away. But I also understand why Doil need to move. And that Injoo needs time to be on her own, and find who she is when she doesn't have people depending on her. What I love about this is that in the end all of them have a choice. And Injoo and Inkyung especially CHOOSE to do the things opposite of what they first said, because THIS feels right. All this time, they never had that, Injoo because of poverty and Inkyung because of her obsession with the bank case and need for justice. So, with this, they could finally close their chapters and heal.
That felt pretty cathartic to me.
