here's the pre-loop backstory for swiftstar, snowyslash, and shinyember <3

alder, swift, snowy, and shiny were all childhood friends! all except for shiny (who was a kittypet) were loners who traveled with their families, with alder and swift being twins. unfortunately, snowy's mom was taken by twolegs and alder and swift's parents died, with alder following soon after.

swift and snowy, having idolized the clans their whole lives, decided to try and join one, swiftclan. (swift being so excited that he changed his own name to swift) but the night before they tried, swift had a nightmare about swiftclan's warriors tearing him apart. he interpreted this as their first starclan omen, to leave the existing clans alone.

and so... they decided to make their own clan! surely they could find their footing with clan structure, right? and to boost their numbers, they asked shiny to come along too, who eagerly agreed. so the trio started thistleclan in the caverns, shoehorning their way into gatherings.

swiftpaw, having received the omen, was unanimously voted to be the leader of their little clan, with shinypaw becoming the medic apprentice. unfortunately, things turned shaky for them immediately when it came to their interpersonal relationships.

swiftpaw and snowypaw were best friends and soon-to-be lovers. shinypaw was really just the cute kit who followed them around. shinypaw wasnt as cute when she was fumbling around the herb storage or challenging swiftpaw on his leadership skills. while swiftpaw and snowypaw practiced battle moves, shinypaw was alone trying to get starclan to accept their clan as legitimate.

a rift between swift/snowy and shinypaw quickly formed. shinypaw felt resentful that she was ignored and trying to figure out the starclan situation alone, and swiftpaw and snowypaw were finding her to be annoying. arguments broke out between the three constantly. shinypaw had decided that she wanted to go home when starclan finally contacted them through alder, now alderpaw. alderpaw insisted that shinypaw had to stay as the medic and look after his family. and so she did.

swiftnettle and snowyslash became warriors now that they felt blessed, but shinypaw remained an apprentice. the two had already solidified shinypaw as an annoying child in their minds, and being a rank above them didnt help. so they were often snappy or rude to her, ignoring her just to focus on each other. even after she was an adult, they regarded her as a snotty brat rather than their medic.

shinypaw ended up falling for a swiftclan medic during all of this, and wound up pregnant shortly after. this seemed to be the thing that snapped all three cats out of it and made them realize they had to come together. swiftnettle and snowyslash, knowing that shinypaw breaking the code so early would have consequences, put their beef with shiny aside to support her kits while she tried to get her full name.

swiftnettle had been waiting to recieve his nine lives until she felt ready for leadership, but shinypaw's kits and their clan's unsteady footing made him go to the moon cave to get his nine lives... which is where our unfortunate story starts in full...

(ended up being more abt shinyember sorry. i love shinyember she makes me sad. also showing that swiftstar wasn't exactly perfect before the loops began either.... and again, everything is very very subject to change)
