awww oh my god ;; these asks are so fucking sweet, thank you SO much for them. it genuinely means a lot that someone is this interested in what i have to say about my girl. of course you can have some trivia about us.

(also, i apologize that it took me a minute to get to this! wasn't ignoring it, just trying to perfect my answers :>)

this specifically discusses mk9 - 11 mileena! mk1 is excluded for now.

in mk9 - mk11, my self insert is a genetic experiment done by earthrealm's government, combining humans with animals to create ultimate war machines. however, very few of the experiments were successful, and those that were escaped when the laboratory they were created in fell apart. i was combined with a fox, of course :)

i joined the tournament to cope with how hollow my life had become after leaving the lab. i was raised to fight and knew nothing else, so, kombat soothed me. imet mileena around this time, who attempted to capture/kill me, but ultimately failed, because i won her over with flattery. more specifically, i called her face beautiful, which is something she'd never been called before. so, she spared me, and we began to talk.

at this point, i didn't have a name; only a subject number that was assigned to me in captivity. so, mileena named me "phantom" after my fur and uber-cool stealth powers. it stuck, sooo, self insert name origins!!!

other story stuff is kinda blurry. i aided her during her rebellion in mkx + the comics, helped her escape captivity before we got executed, and convinced her to "settle down" somewhere away from all the drama and politics. mileena's idea of settling down still involves terrorizing people, however, she isn't like... actively wanted for war crimes anymore. so that's cool.

on the topic of general realtionship stuff, mileena is..a lot to handle. she is aggressive and childish in the same breath, meaning that she deals with everything (both good and bad) in a way that is either inherently harmful or downright frustrating. aside from the fact that she is a literal murderer, she is bossy, whiny, petulant, and a couple other things that most people would find annoying--however, i absolutely do not find her annoying. in fact, i find all of these qualities extremely endearing! even the whole murder thing.

she's extremely clingy. she wants my undivided attention and doting affections all of the time. i'm busy? nonsense! there is no reason i shouldn't be paying attention to her.

[CW: POSESSIVENESS/JEALOUSY] not only is she clingy, but she is also protective, possessive, and a tad bit obsessive; she wants me and only me, and wants me to feel the same about her. fortunately, i do, however, that does not stop her from threatening to eat those who get sweet on me. she wants everyone to know that i am claimed by her for life, and she will stop at literally nothing to prove that.

she masks it pretty well, but she is actually extremely insecure about her appearance and origins. she finds her own face to be repulsive, hence why she always wears a mask, and envies those with traditional beauty, like kitana. i, on the other hand, think she's gorgeous just the way she is, and i am not shy about telling her that. she adores my praise, so, i keep it coming.

our primary love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. we are stuck to each other like glue, always purring compliments in the other's ear.

mileena has eaten people for me. she will continue to eat people for me. i cannot stop this from happening.

mileena loves all of my hobbies. every time i pick up something new, she wants to hear all about it. she's a great listening, surprisingly, but only when it comes to me. she has great retention when it comes to my hobbies and my hobbies alone. she loves watching me draw, adores listening to the music i make, loves proofreading my writing. she's even tried picking up some of my hobbies for herself!

i take her friendship in mk11 as canon. one of the few things she has patience for is sewing. she tailors her own clothes, fixes up my clothes, but most importantly, she makes teddy bears. she has an entire collection of teddy bears, both big and small, some created by her whereas others were stolen and scavenged. she adores them. me and her throw little tea parties with them sometimes.

she doesn't have lips, so she can't kiss me. instead, she licks me. like a dog. like this.

she also bites. it is NOT gentle, but it is out of love, so i don't really mind it.

she is actually pretty marvelous at helping me cope with my anxiety. this is because she takes everything i say at face value instead of second-guessing and trying to convince me otherwise, so she's able to meet me where i'm at.

we both kinda suck at singing, but we sing together sometimes. she has my very diverse taste in music.

𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🥩 I’m no stranger to @hippodromecasino. Don’t worry, I don’t have a problem, I just spent some enjoyable nights in there for a really intense period of my life. It’s not just a casino though, it’s also the home to a VERY good steak house. @heliotsteakhouse comes from @meatologist_ioannis_grammenos and it is an incredible menu. They specialise in USDA 28 day aged prime steaks, from a 250g fillet up to a 500g rib eye for one, then you’ve got your T Bone, chateaubriand, and tomahawk for sharing. There’s also some extra aged steaks averaging 40-60 days, such as T Bone, sirloin on the bone, and a 500g rib on the bone, which I had. I topped it with bone marrow, I added a red wine sauce, and honestly it was a beautiful cut of beef. We also got the surf and turf; a cut of fillet with half a lobster. Ioannis also offers a selection of steaks from around the world, such as Argentinian rib eye and Spanish fillet on the bone. The pricing is very good too, especially being inside a premium casino, you’d expect it to be a lot higher. Starters and sides were amazing too, especially the Millionaires Mac & cheese with a poached duck egg and black truffle. Without a doubt one of the best Mac and cheeses I’ve had. I loved the foie gras starter, and the sea bass ceviche is also a Smokey showstopper. Cocktails are really good too, deffo try the Make Me Blush if you like them sweet. There’s so much more I could say about Heliot but I feel like I’d need a column in The Guardian. ▬▬ author's note: y'all know how much i love writing prompts (and fall) this list by @/rhiatargoed-selfships is right up my alley! the reason i chose mileena for this prompt specifically is because of her lack of lips to kiss. that doesn't mean i can't make it work, though.

"My dearest Mileena, won't you sit with me a moment?" Despite the enormous anxiety that is bubbling within it, Phantom's voice still manages to be airy and inviting.

Mileena turns. Her sharp, bestial eyes stare down upon the vulpine. Once, she seemed like a predator to it; the perpetually bigger fish in an all-encompassing sea; the one to finally devour Phantom and put an end to whatever it was and could've been. However, everything about Mileena that it once found frightening, from her blood-stench to her rows of razor-sharp fangs, has since turned into a strange comfort.

"...Yes." Comes her hesitant answer, voice a quiet rasp against the back of her throat. It is so rare to see her so meek.

Mileena settles down beside Phantom. Leaves and fog swirl around them as they quietly gaze upon the canopy of leafless trees. It's a beautiful late-autumn evening.

And yet, the only thing Phantom can bring itself to look at is Mileena.

The blood, the fangs, the monstrous eyes, that raspy voice of hers. It's more than just a strange comfort, Phantom finds it all to be so beautiful.

It gazes at her quietly from where it sits. Its alabaster tail comes to furl around her, a silken caress that becomes a shield when paired with rising hackles and fearful eyes. She's beautiful. She isn't looking at Phantom, instead staring blanket into the trees, but she can certainly see it staring.

"You're beautiful," the words tumble out of its mouth before its head can think better of it.

Mileena shifts uncomfortably, and Phantom's heart aches with worry. Usually, she is receptive to praise; she thrives on it, as a once-rightful empress and a lesser-than to an empress. However, the more insistent Phantom gets about her beauty, the sadder she becomes.

After a moment that feels like an eternity, she speaks. "I am not."

Sorrow. It comes crashing into Phantom like a frigid wave, crushing them with the weight of a mountain. "You are," it responds, tentative but insistent. "You cannot say that every time I compliment you Mileena. Well, I suppose that you could, but please. Don't do that to yourself."

Usually, when Mileena rejects its affections, it'll simply drop the topic so as not to make her uncomfortable. But this time, something in its heart is apprising it of the need to pry. Even if it's uncomfortable for the both of them, at first.

Phantom was right to attend to that itch in the back of its skull, because Mileena's demeanor shifts near instantly. She's actually looking at it now, her eyes wide and her shoulders dropped. She manages to look surprised and touched, despite the permanent snarl that is etched into her face.

"You..." Phantom tries, but the words are escaping it. No, no—it was doing so well. It clears its throat, vulpine ears twitching anxiously. "Even if you don't look like..." like Kitana, "other human women, you still look beautiful. If not to yourself then, to me. You look beautiful to me."

There's a pause as Phantom studies the other's face for hints of a reaction, positive or negative, but it's inconclusive; all she does is stare.

"You don't have to find yourself beautiful, but please, give me a chance to show you that someone else can."

The thought then crosses Phantom's mind: how else could it possibly show that? It praises her, brings her gifts, assists her when it is needed, provides her with near-constant company at her demand. She wants it close, but not too close, for fear of it falling victim to lethal claws and sharp teeth.

But it wouldn't mind that. It'll take that risk and many more, if the reward is closing this goddamn distance.

Distance, distance... closing the distance.

"May I kiss you?" It blurts out; a final footnote.

First, there’s silence. And then, a harsh, bitter laugh escapes Mileena’s lips. “On this mouth? How will you manage?”

A strange cocktail of emotions swirls within Phantom. There’s shame, sadness, and most notably, determination. It narrows its eyes, its tail swishing in an agitated manner. Yes, on that mouth, it thinks definitely. Even if her teeth cut it’s lips.

“May I kiss you?” It repeats, more persistent this time.

Mileena falls silent again. Her posture relaxes, opening up and becoming more vulnerable. Her ginger-hued eyes grow soft. Her jaw works, razor-like jowls opening and closing slowly. She doesn’t quite know what to say.

So, Phantom reaches out and takes her hand. Slender fingers embrace leather and metal, claws and dried blood. It squeezes her hand, and she squeezes back. It is the only yes the woman can muster.

Phantom leans forward and presses its lips against the permanent snarl of her mouth. Sharp points of ivory press against soft, pillowy flesh. It hears and feels her inhale sharply, her body going taught like a bowstring. When Phantom finally withdraws, feeling quite pleased with itself, Mileena looks like a statue. A look of alarm and veneration is plastered upon her face. Her breathing slows, stops entirely, and then, a long, shaky sigh escapes her. She melts into Phantom's arms.

It doesn't know who closes the distance first, but in a matter of moments, they're tangled up in a warm embrace, and Phantom is breathing in the scent of Mileena's neck. Blood and steel.

"You're impossible," she admonishes, pointed nails clutching at Phantom's furred back.

It chuckles, a warm titter against her skin.
