As early as episode 1, the drama has established that most characters rely on their sense of touch, especially Jom and Yai. Beyond the simple aesthetic of it all, the emphasis on hands is inherent to the way the characterisation is structured. 

The close intimacy between Jom and Yai during their sex scene is made possible thanks to the way their hands convey what they are feeling. 

Yai desires Jom and the way he reaches for Jom’s face as Jom is getting him undressed shows both his impatience and his overwhelming yearning. During this scene, Yai is battling between his physical desire and the fascination he feels towards Jom. His kisses are ardent but also gentle, like when he kisses the hollow of Jom’s shoulder or his neck. His eyes linger on every inch of Jom’s body, his hands slowly slide down Jom’s arms: he is mesmerised. And so is Jom whose expression is quite indescribable: a mix of quiet desire and deep love. 

Although the sexual tension is high, there’s a slowness to the scene that I feel grateful for. The directing lets the characters discover each other’s bodies and it’s so beautiful. 

Jom closing his eyes as he lets Yai’s kisses take him whole emphasises how he gives priority to his sense of touch, making him feel so tangibly Yai’s love for him. 

The two of them drawing each other near in a tight embrace before Yai guides Jom to the bed, doing so without ever breaking their kiss, seems to show how their bodies mirror their feelings. 

Just like @lurkingshan beautifully said in this post, Bright and Nonkul’s seemingly natural chemistry contributes to building such a real feeling of intimacy which is at the core of the story for the two of them (their characters) feel as if they’ve known each other forever. As the monk said, they are destined to meet each other and who knows how many times they’ve already met before? 

When Jom goes back to the past and sees Yai for the “first time”, their world collides and their hearts recognise each other although their minds are at a loss. Memories come flooding back but they can’t quite understand where they come from. 

This irresistible attraction they feel towards each other cannot be expressed in other ways than knowing glances and subtle touches and the directing of this series does both amazingly.

Hi Namu! I did watch the episode. Had you not told me to watch till the very end, I would have stopped the video right where the end credits started rolling and would have come here to scream about betrayal and false marketing and what not.

I think they are keeping the ground open for a season 2 but again, Dee Hup has a bad track record because they did the same with IFYLITA (basically they added a 1 minute post credit scene which would have acted as a base for a season 2 but they never did anything about it. 😣)

So, I'm not sure if there is gonna be a season 2 or not. At least, we know Joke's alive and has been captured (?)/kidnapped (?) or is in hiding and he'll find his way back to Jack.

Now, it's a humble request - if you have time, please consider writing a post canon fic about Joke finding his way back (no pressure though)

Rain!! My dear!!! i hope you’re not too traumatized but I guess that’d be too much to ask considering what these two beautiful mf just did to us.

First of all yes! I also wanted to stop on the credits and throw my laptop away but I KNEW Joke couldn’t be f dead I was in denial.

I screamed in relief when I saw that scene but then it made me even more devastated cause I realized this suffering isn’t over just yet.

I honestly don’t know what the f is going on. There could be a season 2. There could be another special episode. Either way, the intention is clear: their story isn’t over yet. Whether or not they fulfill it there’s no way of knowing until they announce something.

I’m keeping my hopes up, for a couple of reasons:

1. Yinwar aren’t done with their J&J fanmeets and promotions. (there could be more surprises)

2. Even though they are working with Dee Hup, the company is solely theirs, which means there are very few people they have to answer to, giving them the green light to make decisions faster and much more efficiently (I hope)

3. The pressure of their fanbase is too big. Fans won’t leave them alone for a second until they say something about it. Their audience is too wide for them to ignore us and stay quiet.

We’ll get something. Either an announcement, an explanation, or they’ll just drop it out of nowhere with no warning. There’s no way to tell with these men, honestly. Even more so cause, like I said, they are their own bosses and can literally do whatever the fuck they want.

So, I believe we just need to stay put and drown ourselves in fanfic and fanart until we get some answers.

Finally, if you thought I didn’t already intend to write something, dear….. I’ll start writing once my head can process whatever the fuck that was.

Episode 11 of IFYLITA

I don't have any deep feelings or analysis this week. I've had a terrible week. I'm exhausted. I'm questioning my future (or lack thereof). I miss my girlfriend, who I haven't seen in over a month. This episode makes me miss her like a limb.

This episode was so sweet...it was so gentle. It knew we were all fragile, and it held our hands through the pain. Like Jom, it smiled while saying goodbye. Only one more episode left, really. One last time with Jom and Yai.

I cried the entirety of the last 15 minutes of the episode, even though I'd read the novel and knew it was coming. It's so bittersweet; having to leave just after the dust has settled. Having to say goodbye when you've barely started to live.

But this episode highlighted just how much Jom, Yai and everyone else has grown. Jom caused ripples, he changed lives. He made friends and those friends changed lives. They changed his life. These are not props to his story, they are his story. His community. His friends. His lover. His allies. Even FK has become someone who lovingly waves goodbye. Even Prik tears up when watching him dance with the man he loves.

I've been following IFYLITA on air since the first episode. Just like Yai, I'm not ready to say goodbye. I'm not ready to leave 1928, to leave Ming, to leave Maey, to leave even Hope! But sometimes you must leave. And you have no choice. But what a beautiful time it was.

The music when Jom was drawing, and the final letter broke me. They love each other so selflessly. They want nothing but the other's happiness. They have created love where there was tension and unfairness. They deserve better.

But this is what they got. This is what they have. And, truly, we are all so beautifully lucky to get to fall in love, even for a little while.

I'm not ready for next week. I'm crying right now.

If we remember the 1st trailer, that was a huge spoiler from the whole Part 1 of the whole novel. As we can see, Jom is from the present time. He is an architect sent to Chiang Mai to modify an old house where he also had his accident. He next woke up to 1927 which was Khun Yai's era (I won't discuss which era they live, we will watch the series together) in Chiang Mai BUT after the wormhole is done with his time in 1928, instead of going home, he will be traveling to another time, Ayutthaya period (beginning of Part 2), where Khun Yai also exists but as a commander and a different person than Khun Yai in Part 1. Part 2 will also explain Khun Yai's behavior that could not be explained in Part 1.

To clarify, we have 3 eras. Present, 1927-1928 & Ayutthaya period where we (and Jom) will be witnessing the different Khun Yai's in each lifetime.

Now, this is a happy ending because after Part 2, Jom will be sent home to the present time, there will still be a little bit more things that will happen to resolve everything in the present time but once he goes back, he will be meeting another version of Khun Yai who has the heart of Part 1 & Part 2 towards Jom. So don't worry, it will not be like your Scarlet Heart, Mr. Queen or Rooftop Prince and whatever is in your mind.

What's the possibility why it won't be a happy ending?

Obviously, it will have a happy ending 100% based on the novel but the only reason why it probably won't is because there's a huge possibility that Deehup is preparing a S2 for this series.

Analyzing P'Boss explanation, it looks like they will be ending the series only with Part 1 and will return with Part 2. Since he mentioned the older era will be an easter egg, there's a chance that they won't be covering it for this season. Besides, 12 episodes doesn't look like it's enough to cover the whole 2 parts of the story. So we might expect that the ending of the series will be a cliffhanger but that's only my analysis based off P'Boss interview, you may interpret it based on your own belief.

In my opinion, I do hope we'll get 2 seasons. Part 2's quite complicated, it will need a lot of preparation.

Among Deehup's works, I read Lovely Writer & I Feel You Linger In The Air (still reading 🥲). I would really enjoy discussing the novels (LWTS & KaoUp too). I'm also watching Step by Step, sadly there's no novel translation yet. In the future I might keep talking about IFYLITA here.

Red and green in the Puttyuban Bar scene

Nuey is said to love wearing green which earned them the nickname "K̄heīyw kathoey” (green queen). (Thank you Vi for the clarification <3 @disasterbabygirlnick)

Green is often associated with nature and healing for spring, the greenest of seasons, is the season of new beginnings, bringing rebirth to a sleeping world.  

This might be a bit far-fetched but the way Nuey dances reminds me of the wind blowing through trees, rustling their leaves. The way they gracefully moves their hips while lifting their arms up, their whole body seems to follow a melody only they can hear. The tree imagery is quite relevant when you consider Nuey’s backstory. James tells Jom that Nuey had to flee Phranakorn to come here and find a new place to stay where they could be safe from violence. Their dance is proof that they have taken root in this city, that although they went through a lot, they can finally let their “green queen” blossom. 

What I really want to point out though is that Yai is also wearing green, a green suit to be precise. Just like @respectthepetty always says, colours mean things, especially in a context so full of subtext. 

The Puttyuban Bar is a place which embraces queerness and allows everyone to “vent out [their] repressed feelings”, but most importantly, it is Yai’s favourite place. 

“In fact, I only discovered it recently. It’s very secretive. So much that not many people know about it.”

I may be completely wrong but when I rewatched this ep, I couldn’t help but think how these words can so easily be interpreted in different ways: quite literally — Yai has discovered a new bar recently that not many people know about — or you can see them as the embodiment of Yai’s self-discovery journey — him falling in love with Jom and the fact that only his sister and perhaps Prik knows that he is queer. As always, I’m over-analysing things so do whatever you want with this interpretation.

What Yai’s father says to Dech might imply that he suspects Yai of not being straight from a young age but that doesn’t mean Yai knew he was queer when he was young. You can feel different and still take a lot of time figuring it all out. Anyway, I’m most likely wrong about this so let’s move on.   

You can tell Yai feels at ease bringing Jom in this bar and that feeling of inner peace is embodied by the colour green. But just like there are different shades of green, the green Nuey wears isn’t like the green Yai wears. Nuey is in full bloom whereas Yai is experiencing his first spring. 

However what I love most about this whole scene in the bar is how it shows Jom and Yai to be so complementary. 

Jom is wearing red and perfectly fits in the bar decor which is Christmas themed (combination of red and green) although it’s his first time there. So is James. The collusion between him and James — they're both wearing red clothes — is reinforced by the fact that they both know they’re gay. By wearing red clothes they feel like a part of the bar (regulars if you will) whereas Yai stands out by wearing green. Although he does stand out, he isn’t out of place because the bar is decorated with red and green ornaments. 

(Look at them!! Then look at the garlands!! Even the curtains at the entrance.)

We know that IFYLITA is a story about time-travel and reincarnation and that Yai and Jom are destined to meet. They both feel deeply connected to each other and they feel whole when they’re together. I feel like them wearing red and green, the colours of the Puttyuban bar, a bar that encourages people to be themselves, is quite significant and shows how important they are to each other. Just like red and green are complementary colours, they both belong together. 

Bonus: Yai’s tie has hints of red.
