Why didn't anyone tell me that I could start an album on my phone and then stuff it in my bra so I can listen to music while I do the dishes? I feel like someone should have told me about this.

I feel like this song is hurting me. Like every time I feel sad and I need to like dance it away, this would be the song for it.
But if you don't want to hold me Maybe I can change your mind Cause I'm waitin', hesitatin' And it's other ways to leave it But I've only asked for you As you move your body next to me There's so much more to lose

Currently playing in the personal jukebox, because this conversation just happened:
My advisor (jokingly): "Don't kill yourself grading exams, but..."
Me: "Approach the abyss."
Advisor (laughing): "Yes. Approach the abyss."

the paper chase - “neat manageable piles”
these guys appreciate the spaces between the noises as much as the noises themselves, which is a position i appreciate so so much.

when nothing's playing, my brain is constantly making its own music happen.
when songs get stuck in my head that i haven't listened to recently, sometimes i can trace them back to something -- some snippet of conversation or thought brought them out of storage -- but sometimes i just wake wake up with one streaming through already or catch myself humming one without having any idea why. i affectionately call this my personal jukebox. it seems to happen more when i've been listening to less music. i've had my head deep in a data set for the past week or so, which has meant less listening to music (and more listening to words, which is another story). so. here's the last 24 hours-ish in the jukebox. === robert johnson - sweet home chicago. woke up with this one in my head yesterday. this may or may not have had something to do with my radio alarm -- i have no idea.
neil young - are you ready for the country? sweet home chicago just melded into this one somehow. also, i was getting ready... for work. and it was time to go.
flaming lips - yoshimi battles the pink robots pt 1. this -- i have no idea where it came from. maybe it was because i was battling with my computer over this dataset.
carissa's wierd - some days are better than others. meeting. with. advisor.
elliott smith - independence day. walking to the bus.
meatus murder (not on the spotify playlist, but here) - against all odds. ("take a look at ming yao...") this, somehow... watching people get off the shuttle. this song is kind of offensive. oh boy. thanks, brain.
modest mouse - gravity rides everything. this is not a song that i would expect to come up on the personal jukebox, since i don't remember how long it's been since i've heard this song, and i have no idea why this came up. but then again... i did hear a bluegrass (?) cover of this song at a bar last week, which was so convincing that i had to ask the person i was with if this was an actual standard that modest mouse had covered. so. there's that.
promise ring - between pacific coasts. this morning: "smoke doesn't climb like it lingers" -- this song is always in heavy rotation in the PJ.
ODB/kelis - got your money. i have no idea where this came from. but, awesome.
shannon wright - don't you doubt me. "your boat will come, and when it come, don't send it back." yeah, buddy. yeah.
