SEASON FIVE — What do you hope to find? I mean, in the end.
#txf#tv#txf5#the x files#txfedit#tvedit#scifiedit#horroredit#90sedit#.gif#thexfilesnet#*txfrewatch#lol I had like a whole essay written in the tags here of how I feel about this season but I don't want to be too much of a hater so.#it has a few iconic motws that I wouldn't wanna miss out on but as a whole it ranks pretty low for me I think#the mytharc really starts to go off the rails here (intriguing idea with the mass ''abductions'' and all that but who came up with#that nonsense about some war between the alien species. why did that need to be a thing??)#and then some of the most important themes (like scully's faith) simply do not resonate with me#I rlly like the end as an episode and as a season finale tho (hence the quote for the caption. LOVE it) so I'm not saying it's ALL bad :')#*saul queued

SEASON EIGHT — I will go on record to say this: that I have seen things that I cannot explain. I have observed phenomena that I cannot deny. And that as a scientist and a serious person it is a badge of honor not to dismiss these things because someone thinks they're BS.
#I realised that if I wanna finish all this before the anniversary celebration I need to pick up the pace a bit jdfbskf so here we go :')#txf#tv#txf8#txfedit#tvedit#the x files#scifiedit#.gif#thexfilesnet#*txfrewatch#this season is actually quite beloved to me. especially in light of what comes after...but also in its own right I'd say!#mulder abduction arc is a fabulous concept that sadly is underwhelmingly executed (and not just from my point of view of I KNOW he's#gonna be fine...) and at this point we are left thinking that william is a normal healthy msr love child so the pregnancy arc is ok too#the show ended here btw. nothing else happened after and they are still standing in scully's bedroom holding william the ??th and smooching#I swear#oh. also. I LOVE john doggett and I love his and scully's relationship; how they come to trust one another over the course of the season#THAT is the ideal PLATONIC partnership actually. professional trust and respect that grows very carefully and eventually#blossoms into a more personal friendship <3#*saul queued

#my favourite season <333#(ask me again after I watch s4 jsfkbfjs it's always between those 2 for me :'))#txf#the x files#tv#txf3#txfedit#tvedit#scifiedit#horroredit#90sedit#thexfilesnet#.gif#*txfrewatch#this was soooo difficult I had like 40 gifs made and couldn't decide omg#because this season (even more than most others) has a very interesting mix of serious and comedic episodes#the myth arc is less trauma heavy than other seasons but still carries a lot of drama and darkness with melissa's death for example#and then the introduction of the black oil and scully meeting the other abductees and all that#but opposite this we have THE funniest and most brilliantly silly episodes (clyde bruckman. war of the c. jose chung's. quagmire etc.)#while there are ALSO some darker motw like grotesque and oubliette and pusher (to only name a few)#so idk. this set is a bit all over the place and doesn't totally do the season justice but it is what is is :')#*saul queued

#txf#tv#txf4#the x files#txfedit#tvedit#scifiedit#horroredit#.gif#thexfilesnet#*txfrewatch#this season did NOT have to go this hard...#most insane moment to me is in elegy after mulder asks her 'why can't you trust me?' when scully sits in her car and cries#and as a parallel mulder crying at home (bottom left gif) after scully tells him 'it's easier to believe the lies isn't it?' and#that she was made ill just as a means to make him believe. to fool him#INSANE SEASON for insane people#& what I already said the other day: it's also the season where they're both just stupidly attractive. :')#it's also the best acted I think (for both of them. and not just thanks to better writing)#...I still prefer s3 tho :') because I love the silly episodes too much and this season just doesn't have those (except small potatoes)#also...I watched this so quickly omg...💀 like I started on saturday I think? um... :'')#but I have to take a break now anyway. because of the horrors (adulting) so it's nice that I got this far at least!
