Hey! I just fell down the FOB rabbit hole again and discovered this! I just saw your last post so if this is to soon let me know, but when do you anticipate putting out issue 11! I'm hooked!!

Hello, and thank you for checking out the comic! I'm delighted you enjoy it. I'm busting my ass trying to get the thing to come together by the time the comic's fourth anniversary rolls around in March, but it's been a rough ride so I don't feel confident putting a date to its return yet. The way I work on the comic means I make sure I've got a full issue completely done - inks, colors, backgrounds, shading, dialogue - so that I know the full issue reads well before it meets the world. This also permits me to keep up a nice page buffer so I don't miss updates.

Unfortunately, it's been difficult to maintain consistent work on Issue #11 for a lot of reasons. It's a...complex part of the story, which I'm sure will make more sense once it's released, but it involves shedding a lot of light on things in the narrative that have only been discussed obliquely thus far. So on top of being a busy little bee, I want to make sure I get it right.

Right now I don't think I can say anything more than "I'm working on it and it's taking longer than I thought," but we're only one month into the new year, and I intend to finish this project rain or shine.

Hi everyone! I'm Mandarin/Grungepo/Ferret and this is my corner of the internet for goofy ramblings! I'm a bit all over the place (perks of being neurodivergent lol), but I'll try to keep this as brief as possible:

GENERAL STUFF

I'm a black autistic transmasc dyke in my mid-20s

I'm a published poet; slowly getting back into writing prose

No specific blog theme but I post a lot about writing, fandom, politics, and whatever random jokes pop into my head

I occasionally post NSFW & suggestive stuff, usually in a trans/queer context or something fandom-related

My music taste is all over the place but most of it falls in the pop-punk and punk-adjacent range. (think Death, X-Ray Spex, or Fall Out Boy depending on the day.)

Main fandoms at the moment are Fall Out Boy (with a special fixation on the Young Blood Chronicles) and Transformers; secondary fandom is Minecraft/MCYT. Tertiary fandoms are Arcane, Doctor Who, and FNAF.

All of the MCYT posts are contained on my sideblog @swagferret (this sideblog is on indefinite hiatus due to the BDS boycott on Microsoft & Xbox products, but I'm leaving it up as an archive)

Will probably post about Lost, Scavengers Reign, and DS9 in the future, once I get off my ass and watch them lol

I also have an ao3 account - it's currently empty but hopefully I'll work up the nerve to post some stuff there within the next few months

Hey, so I was wondering. When you or if you ever finish this comic. Would it be okay if I printed it out and made it a physical book? I don’t plan on selling it, I just want a physical copy to read. I just want to make sure it’s okay with you before I do it!

If you can make it work in a physical/print setting then go for it! I'm all about preservation via physical media and such. I'm just not sure how well it'd translate to that just based on how I formatted it (i.e., basically forgoing margins entirely and making liberal and excessive use of painting the medium itself whenever possible to make the most of a webcomic format), but like I said, if you can make it work, then by all means!

hi there!! i just learned about this project via shoutout in a youtube video essay and came to check it out. apologies if this question has been answered before (i didn’t see it in the faq), but were you involved in the sixteen candles fancomic from a few years back? the art style of this comic looks kind of similar from what i remember the sixteen candles one looking like, and it got me curious. either way, this is a really cool-looking comic!! :)

Nope. At some point I should probably update the FAQ to put that there because more than a few people have asked me that, and I'd really, really prefer not to be affiliated with that work in any way.

Thank you for your concern! I'm fine, but a lot of logistical stuff going on in my life reduced my access to my PC for an extended period of time, making it difficult to complete work on the comic in time for my initial deadline. I've fallen behind because of this but am gradually trying to return to baseline!

hi! just wanted to let you know that i can't access the cast page, at least not on mobile. the link on the latest stinger page just takes me to the blog. haven't checked if it doesn't work on desktop since i'm p much exclusively a mobile user.

That's curious...I checked on both browser mobile and the app on mobile and I was able to access all links, so I'm at a loss! If anyone else has had this issue, please let me know.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I should've probably put that question over in the FAQ since I put the answer to that over on the staff page, which is not very intuitive, but to answer your question:

I use Clip Studio Paint and do all my drawing with a Wacom Intuos tablet. Most brushes I use are custom or standard brushes, but starting from Issue #7 onwards, I've also been using brushes provided free by Devin Elle Kurtz for certain background elements.

Dude I totally just rewatched the actual Youngblood chronicles bc I completely mixed up the timeline and thought alone together came before young volcanoes 😭 lmaoooooo

If you think that's bad, I have to regularly remind myself that the Save Rock & Roll album does not actually adhere to the Youngblood Chronicles tracklisting. I get startled every time I listen to it in album order.

Hello!! First of all, we appreciate what you are doing, especially during in pandemic, much loved!! I was wondering when do you update the page, or is it on a random time??? Btw, your art is amazing!! Please keep it up and stay safe.

All pages are scheduled to go up at 3PM EST every Monday and Friday. They’re queued up ahead of time, so if there’s an error with the page upload that would be an error with automation. I’m usually at work when the pages go up but I generally have Internet access at that time slot so I can troubleshoot if something goes wrong.

This might be something that changes down the line, since if something does go wrong I’ll be stuck trying to fix it from a laptop, and said laptop does not contain any of the comic’s production files (I do all my drawing on my big beefy home PC). But at present, you can expect the entirety of Issue #1 to be uploaded consistently at 3PM EST. If I do decide to change up the time frame, I’ll be sure to announce it!

I can't access the cats page on mobile, the link to it just link to the second issue announcement and none of the links there direct me to the cast page. Not a major complaint or anything, but I wanna see it lol

That is...really peculiar! I've tested the links out on desktop (both in the sidebar navigation and the navigation page itself) and they all redirect to the Cast page accordingly. I'll have to re-download the mobile app to see what the issue is and see if it's mobile-only.

In the meantime, here is a handy link to the Cast Page, just for you!

If anyone else has had an issue with redirects, please do weigh in.
