✉ FFXIV RP Letters / Postcards ✉

The concept is simple: Send IC letters/postcards to other characters (via Asks).

You don't have to handwrite them either. Why not pick a font that best represents your character's handwriting, and type it instead? Then just hand it to the Post Moogles (upload it to the recipient's Asks).

As with real life letters, there's no requirements on length, or frequency. You can write as much (or little) as you want, when you want.

If anyone sees this and wants to write any of my characters, please hit me up. I also highly encourage reaching out to others to see if they'd be interested in such a thing.

It could also be a fun to extend RP to characters that you've seen around, but never had a chance to interact with. Timezones and DC locations have no power here!!

Something you'll want to establish before you start writing though, is how your characters know each other. Could be they simply posted/read a notice on a board about penpals wanted. Or maybe they met previously? Maybe they grew-up together?

Why not choose parchment that suits your character? Maybe they like pretty patterned paper, and always have a ready supply of stationery to choose from.

Or maybe they travel a lot, and just use a page or two from an everyday notepad they keep with them.

Or could they be the type that frequently forgets to write, and maybe only has a napkin or back of a flyer to hand when they finally do remember?

You could write about anything you'd like. Whatever your OC gets up to, or thinks about, and is happy to share.

Löksen was a typical Wood-warder many years ago, until the day the Garlean empire attacked Dalmasca. During a periodic visit to his home village, hearing disturbing rumors that Garlemald had set eyes on Dalmasca. Having proven to be a great archer, the leaders urged him and a small group of other Wood-warders to make a trip to Dalmasca to convince the Viera living in the city to come home.

Ultimately, they failed. Having scarcely arrived in the foreign city, it was overrun by Garlean forces and the other men were killed in the ensuing battles and Löksen taken prisoner for several years. During his imprisonment at a Garlean labor camp, Löksen was a target of fascination and sometimes ridicule as a rare male of an already elusive people. His Wood-warder background prepared him for the harsh conditions of the camp and helped him survive. His time in the camp also introduced him to a variety of people and cultures that he never would have encountered otherwise. Imprisoned Sharlayan scholars taught him the Eorzean language, an old Hingan woman taught him the way of the samurai, a pair of Lalafell smugglers regaled him with stories of Ul'dah, among others.

Eventually, the camp was inadvertently liberated by Bahamut's rampage and during the chaos, Löksen fought and killed the Garlean officer who had served as a tormentor and overseer and took their gunblade as a trophy that he carries with him.

Now he wanders Etheirys partly as an adventurer inspired by the stories of his fellow inmates about the diverse lands they came from, but also to try to escape a sense of guilt for failing his people in Dalmasca and trying to seek solace.

Hey there, mun here. I'm pretty flexible on how to start interactions. I'm completely open to discussing things or just go with the flow, provided you start of course.

I designed Loksen to essentially be a support character. He's not a WoL, he's not blessed with Echo. Honestly, my goal with him is to bring texture and enhance YOUR story. I suppose I'm more focused on being a character than a protag, I guess.

He's got his own little stories, but I'm here to make friends and try my hand at a creative outlet that I haven't done in several years.

Anyways, here's some possibilities!

Yojimbo: A wandering warrior of no small skill. Something need doing? Body? Guarded. Bounties? Hunted. Monsters? Slain. Need a courier because you can't deliver through regular services? He's got legs.

Animal-lover: He will pet the animals.

Tarzan Boy: You can take the Wood-warder out of the woods, but you can't take the warder out... of... the... Well, Loksen prefers to be out in nature when he gets the chance and he can be a bit wild. Maybe you encounter him out in the Shroud climbing amongst the trees and foraging for food.

"Where'd You Get That?!": As a samurai, Loksen carries an extremely unusual blade: the gunblade of a Primus Ordinarius of exquisite craftsmanship. Sure to draw the attention of any Garleans affiliated character. It has been modified to be suited for fighting in the manner of the legendary Hingashi warrior tradition.

Ignatia spent many years attempting to run from her past in only the most destructive ways: substance abuse, gambling, chaotic romances, pure adrenaline. She grew an empire from nothing but the sheafs of paper and ink she brought with her to the encampments outside the gates of Ul'Dah. Her success was pure luck. However, her downfall was of her own hand.

When the rock bottom she found herself in grew too insufferable for her, she set off for some years of solitude only to return riding the coattails of the same luck that uplifted her the first time.

Now, the captain of her own ship, she braves the seas for rare finds. From animals to gold, the Raen now feeds her desire for a thrill by drafting faux writs of passage to take what she wishes and display the trophies in her home.

The Prodigal Bitch of Ul'Dah

Ignatia's reputation preceded her within the city: brutal, ruthless, sharp. Any who feared an altercation would avoid her, but those who enjoyed a challenge would have no issue with that. Any who dared poke the bear would find that she quite enjoyed a good banter dripping with double entendre and vague threats. It's an art only the most depraved would appreciate.

When she disappeared, though, her normal contacts and clientele would find themselves coming up short for info on where she went. Her office and home were left abandoned with no explanation and no forwarding address. Rumors spread: perhaps she'd been arrested, maybe an aggravated Blade had finally killed her. No matter the reason, her name once again started circulating in recent moons. Was she back? Where was she this whole time? Where can she be found now?

A captain needs sailors. If your character's looking for a job, perhaps they would find her help wanted posters tacked up around the city.

No Suitors?

Ignatia was known in some circles for her disastrous taste in partners - and for her propensity to chew them up and spit them out. Where one would expect a new partner draped over her arm upon her return, she seems to have sworn off romance and - shockingly - physical intimacy. Would your character feel so emboldened to try to sneak under her shell? Would they be successful? It would certainly be fun for her to see them try.

I'm looking for long-term RP partners (age 21+) who enjoy exploring darker and mature themes as much as I do! A written media, I've found, allows for a safer avenue in which to explore these things. Communication is key, however, and if any topic goes too far for you I'm fully capable of dialing it back!

I can RP both in-game and via Discord. I have a full-time job, and I also enjoy having my own hobbies and friends outside of online gaming. As such, I'm not always able to respond right away, nor am I able to stay up into the wee hours of the morning. Central US timezone.

I'm not here for the smut. If it happens in the course of an RP and there's a purpose, I'm fine with it. If I feel it would make sense, but I'm not in the mood to go into it, I'd prefer to fade to black. Hello again folks!

Having finished my move and fully returned from my hiatus, I now find myself in search of some RP. But I am looking for something fairly specific.

While I have had no problem finding regency-themed and upscale venues and RP communities for Mercer's brother, Sebastian, I am finding it difficult to locate the opposite for Mercer within Ishgard. While I am happy to hear about dive bars and gambling dens outside of Ishgard, I am really looking to find a few corners of the Ishgard RP community that are centered around the experiences of common folk and Brume rats. While I love the upper crust as much as the next guy, Mercer is my main man, and I really want to find him places to be where he isn't viewed as inherently less by the nature of the theming of the group. SHARLAYAN: While much of the Viera's time is spent away, he does return to his Sharlayan home from time to time, whether it's to bring in a specimen or to simply visit with old friends, he is not to difficult to find there, particularly as his clothing tends to standout against the more conservative and neutral tones of his Sharlayan counterparts. As a significant contributor in his field of study to the vast library over his three decades of work, Dia is most likely found there, but also will peruse the market and visit Labyrinthos from time to time. Especially if any of his projects are flourishing.

THAVNAIR: Born and raised in Thavnair, Dia spent his entire youth there with his family. They are prominent silk makers and tailors, specializing in ornate and delicate garments. He's very familiar with the locals and after the panic of the End of Days subsided, Dia visits far more frequently. He's often found in the Radz-at-han market, out by Palaka's Stand, or in the silk factory pitching in to help his parents. A Thavnarian born, he has an identifiable accent and tends to wear garments that connect him to his home.

GLEANERS: Are you a Gleaner too? Then there is a good chance you have crossed paths with him at some point in time, especially over the years of intense gathering in preparation for the End of Days. Due to the nature of his work (Specifically in regards to dangerous plants and plant-like creatures, IE: Morbols) it's very likely your Character might work side by side with him, or at least in the same vicinity.

TRAVELS/IN PASSING: There are very few places on this grand shard that Dia has not been, which means his availability to meet people is vast and ever expanding! Perhaps you came across him at an Inn, or aboard a ship? Maybe you met him in one of the main cities, or out in the boonies of the continents... Regardless, Dia can be basically anywhere necessary to meet your character. (Note: Not the First however, I'm fairly lore strict on this point since only the WoL can freely travel back and forth at this point in the story and he is not a WoLPC.)

Happy Hour - Bards & Bands Wanted

Hello, folks! It's been a while, so we wanted to give everyone a quick update about our Happy Hour events on the last Thursday of each month. We have decided to move away from the macro performance portion of the Happy Hour events for the time being, either permanently or until more new macro performers enter the community and our past performers become more available in their schedules. Rest assured, Happy Hour is here to stay. The events will continue and will be resuming soon! However, we are going to shift the focus away from the performance and musical aspect, and more toward casual, social RP tavern night events with a classy speakeasy vibe. We would love to be able to keep the spirit of the music and entertainment alive within the event and make the most of our stage downstairs, however, so if you are a bard who likes to play music with the in game bard performance feature and are available Thursday evenings within the timeframe of 9:00 - 11:00 PM EST on NA, please contact us! He had to have died. Though, what sins he'd committed to have warranted this trip to the abyss was beyond the Wood-warder.

A cough and the acrid burn of smoke grated across his throat brought him to the present. No. Not dead. But that wasn't a comfort.

Loksen's vision swam back into focus as he half-heartedly shield his face from nightmare heat of an unnatural blue fire that engulfed the market. The cough turned into a retch as another smell reached him: cooked meat.

With surprising alacrity for how godsawful he felt he sat up as his stomach lurched and the horrible burn of smoke in his throat met bile and the terribly pleasant remnants of berries and the copper taste of blood.

Wiping his mouth of the vomit, he dragged himself to his feet, his body protesting quietly the whole way.

The lucky dead (bangaa, Hyur and worst of all, Viera) strewn about in pieces and undefineable masses around the former market, the desert afternoon made dark by an impenetrable black smoke of midnight absurdly lit with the cerulean flames of Garlean destruction.

He remembered the agony of checking every Viera and other for signs of life to no avail. But, he found his attention seemingly guided down a small alley strewn with debris and the detritus of the lives of several pe-

He pushed the thought down, trying to center himself as he stumbled down an impossibly labyrinthine alley. The miles of burning urban hellscape soon gave implausibly a wide shallow stream, surrounded by an infinite darkness. He could feel the cool water sloshing at his knees, but he didn't clock the incongruity. Something. SomeONE had caught his attention. Pristine, beautiful in the knee deep water.

Fruitlessly, he waded through the water trying to close the distance but the crystal clear water was like quicksand.

Soon, the figure was slowly engulfed in the cerulean flames of Rabanastre and his pain intensified as if his very skin was slowly being stripped off his body and he cried.

"Loki... Rakas..." came an achingly beautiful voice from the burning Viera woman.

A psyche shattering primal scream of sorrow tore him asunder with sanity shredding pain.

He awoke with a gasp, his face soaked with sweat and silent tears and sat up with a start. As the drowsiness gave way to consciousness the world around him came into focus slowly.

The smell of sea salt was soon joined by calming rumble of ocean waves and the call of seabirds. Instinctively, he touched the raised scar tissue on the back of neck, a reminder of time past.

Taking several deep breathes to calm himself, he allowed the calming seabreeze coming from the gently undulating curtains of a nearby open window. A sleepy feminine murmur and the surprisingly gently touch of a large slender hand reassuringly gripped his bare inner thigh.

"Loki... you okay..." Merylwyb inquired sleepily into her pillow.

I FINALLY got around to making Carrds for my two beloved RP characters Astraed (who is my main) and Akame (my newest hyperfixation baby).

––– Physical Appearance –––

Hair: Thick black hair. Her style changes frequently, but is usually around shoulder-length and worn loose. She doesn’t put a lot of thought into it.

Eyes: Her right eye is a pink/violet color with a white limbal ring. The left was lost in a hunting accident and has since been replaced with a gold colored magitek implant.

Height: 5’ even, except when she’s wearing heels, which is often.

Build: Rhela is lithe, but muscular. She is stronger than she looks, but has an athletic/fighter build.

Distinguishing Marks: Visibly short/stunted horns and tail. Nose has been broken a few times and is slightly crooked. Burn scars on forearms and hands. Significant visible scarring everywhere else. Perpetually covered in bruises and healing injuries. Tattoo between her shoulder blades - a wolf circled by runes. While the wolf is traditional tattooing, the outer circles and runes appear to have been carved. Closer inspection might reveal the branded Garlean chain that the ink covers up.

Common Accessories: At least one gun, and several knives, concealed on her at any given time. A leather and chain choker and a blue pendant necklace that on closer inspection is a miniature of Etheirys, complete with continents. A ring on her right hand - black metal with a yellow-gold gemstone. Cigarette case and a tin that almost certainly contains drugs.

Profession: Rhela is a mercenary first and foremost. While she has steady employment these days, she still picks up occasional odd jobs. She is a skilled bartender, and has been known to deal in everything from drugs to magical relics on the side.

Hobbies: Hunting is her preferred pastime. She also enjoys making jerky and cured meats from the spoils of her hunts. Rhela is a great lover of both poetry and music, and has a large collection of both. She is also a fighter. Whether it’s a casual spar or a local fight club, she is almost always willing to throw down.

Languages: Eorzean Common. Hingan. Garlean. 

Accent: Rhela’s accent is very unusual, especially in a Xaela. She speaks with hints of Kugane, but the strongest influence is Gyr Abania. For those who would recognize it, there is a bit of provincial Garlean in many of her words and speech patterns.

Residence: Limsa Lominsa and Ul’dah, but she travels a lot.

Birthplace: Kugane.

Religion: None. Rhela doesn’t believe in any gods, but won’t hold it against someone if they do.

Mercenary — Rhela is well known in certain circles for her discretion and efficiency in taking care of “issues”. Whether it be making problems disappear or settling old debts, there is little she won’t do if the coin is right. She has few attachments and fewer morals, which makes her very good at her job and highly sought after. Hiring? You might come across her information.

Criminal — Of course, one does not work as a mercenary for the worst sorts of people without collecting a reputation, and enemies. Rhela is a known associate of multiple criminal organizations, some of whom find themselves at odds with each other. There are more than a few people who might like to see her disappear, or get information from her.

Dealer — Rhela has ties to a fairly prolific smuggler who operates out of Gyr Abania. Whether you’re looking for magitek, weapons, or artifacts, she might have the connections you seek. She’s also been known to deal in illicit substances, though she does a bit less of that these days.

Imperial Deserter — While Rhela pyr Lupis did not attract much attention during her time with the XIVth legion, someone with ties to the same might recognize her, or at least be aware of the xaelic optio. Officially, she’s classified as missing and presumed dead. Those without direct ties to her former legion might simply recognize a former soldier when they see one.

Wanted — A xaela matching Rhela’s description is wanted for various crimes in multiple Eorzean cities. Whether you’re a bounty hunter or someone on the right side of the law, you might get lucky enough to pick up her trail. (By request only, this would require longer term coordination and plotting)
