fucking annoyed by matty healy wtf man FUCK performative activism and fuck him
#for those who don’t know: the 1975 performed at the good vibes festival in malaysia#and got banned and later got the ENTIRE festival cancelled for a kiss between two male artists and his (drunken) tirade against the-#-msian govt for their homophobia#yes it’s an act of protest yes the govt deserves to be called out BUT BUT BUT#it is. so incredibly fucking selfish and reeks of performative activism and white saviourism#it’s quite apparent from his actions he doesn’t know or care the reprecussions queer malaysians will face in the wake of his actions#he’s jeopardising the safety of queer malaysians bc they WILL be the scapegoat and face the brunt of the govt’s actions-#-following what he did onstage#the 1975 can easily fuck back off the the UK but queer malaysians will be stuck here facing the consequences of ur selfish actions#AND he’s discouraged organisers from finding queer friendly or queer acts and said acts will be discouraged from coming too#he’s just provoking the govt and making the situation even worse#not to mention the festival??? the organisers and other musicians and ppl who paid and came all the way out to watch this??#the entire festival is cancelled now wow good job#god.#personal#rant
