warnings: fluff (inspired by @elektrosonix shipping me with kiyoomi. i love him.)

despite what others believed, sakusa firmly believed that love could change someone.

it changed him.

sakusa had never loved himself, but god, he loved you. he loved you more than he could ever love himself. he loved you more than wolves loved the moon. more than fire loved chaos. more than he ever thought possible.

he had always hated his hands. his long and slender fingers that always looked abnormal to him. but when you played with his fingers, tracing the veins that carried star dust, mumbling about how beautiful they were, sakusa had no choice but to start loving his hands.

he had hated his beauty marks. years of ridicule does that, but when you first kissed them, telling him “they’re beautiful, kiyoomi. just as you are” he no longer wanted to scratch them off. he longed for the days you sat across from him, pressing small kisses to the marks above his eyebrow while playing with his fingers.

sakusa was absolutely, hopelessly, completely, passionately, insanely, desperately, in love with you.

and anyone who had the chance to look at you both together, would know.

perhaps the most surprising day of atsumu’s life was when he came to practice half an hour earlier all those months ago and had the opportunity to see the way sakusa truly loved you.

you and sakusa had been waking towards the gym, the hallway dark, and you spoke animatedly about something. atsumu watched with curiosity as sakusa gently twirled you in constant circles, smiling when you broke into giggles mid sentence.

bokuto had witnessed sakusa’s love for you when he came to practice with his hair braided, not a single care as the rest of the team stared at him. sakusa was passionate about his hair, it being one of the things he could control, and to have you braid it—touch it—bokuto was sure that sakusa was a changed man.

hinata had witnessed sakusa’s overwhelming love after a game, when sakusa had scored the final point and you had ran to him, jumping into his arms. hinata’s mouth was already gape at the sight of someone touching sakusa while he was sweaty—dirty—but that wasn’t what had his mouth on the floor. it happened when sakusa pressed a kiss to your lips, quick, but visible.

sakusa loved you in the most selfless way possible.

he loved you by unconsciously loving himself. he loved you by coming to terms with himself, realizing that he had so much to offer even when you were perfectly happy with what he gave you.

sakusa kiyoomi loved you with his whole heart, and then some.

laying next to you now, sakusa had never felt more loved. with your head resting in the crook of his neck, your hand on top of his heart as you pressed small closed mouth kisses to his neck, sakusa was absolutely sure that you loved him the way he loved you.

your love had changed sakusa, and in return, he loved you with everything he had.

prompt 8: “since when have we ever been friends?”

warnings: angst? slight? it’s been a lot of fluff recently so yay! angst! (i’m kidding it’s not a lot)

You carried your lunch tray towards what seemed to be your regular lunch table. 

Ever since you moved to Inarzaki High, you had been sitting with Suna and his friends. Your mother was friends with Suna’s, and you and Suna had been friends since you were children.

As you walked towards the table, your eyes met Osamu’s, and he smiled at you.

You gently put the tray down, catching the attention of the other two boys. You smiled as you sat down, and Atsumu grinned at you, winking at you like he knew your secret.

You sat beside Suna, and when you turned your head to face him, you found that he was facing the other way, staring at another girl at the end of the table.

You cleared your throat and looked back at the twins. You picked up your fork asking the twins, “how were you’re morning classes?”

Atsumu’s cheeks were full so before he opened his mouth to speak, Osamu covered his mouth and began talking.

“Boring, as usual,” you nodded in agreement, “but we got a new student in English, so there’s that”

Your eyes flickered to the girl sitting with a few other students. She looked unfamiliar, so you assumed she was the new girl.

You turned to Atsumu who was glaring at Osamu before he smirked at you. “I blew up something in physics, so I’ve had a great morning.”

You laughed, not at all phased at Atsumu’s answer. He was only taking physics because it was the one class Osamu knew he wouldn’t have taken, and to both of their surprise, Atsumu was actually good at it.

“What about ya, y/n?”

You shrugged, using your fork to move some strawberries around. “Boring, as usual.”

You and the twins continued talking, and after a bit, Suna joined the conversation. You waved off his behaviour, knowing how teenage boys can act when they see a pretty girl.

At the end of the day, you hurriedly left class, hoping you could catch Suna before he wakes home. Being neighbours, sort of, you liked walking home with him. Recently, it was the only alone time you got with your friend.

You spotted Suna, his back to you as he spoke to someone. You walked over, and your smile slightly dropped when you saw that he was talking to the girl from lunch. Still, you walked up to them, smiling at her when she spotted you, and patiently waited.

The girl smiled at you, and then Suna, and then left, saying a quick, “bye, rin! see ya tomorrow!”

You gripped your backpack handle. “She seems nice.”

Suna turned to you, both of his hands in his pockets and a deadpan scowl on his face.

“y/n,” Suna’s voice sounded bored, “why are ya here? Do I have yer pencil or something?”

You frowned. “No, uh, I was hoping we could walk home together.” After you received a blank look, you licked your lips. “You know, like we used to?”

Kicking a rock, Suna let out a sigh. “Why?”

You were taken back. You awkwardly chuckled but after you saw the complete serious look on his face, you stopped. “Why? Uh, I do not know... cuz we’re friends? And we usually walk home together?”

You were confused. Suna had never acted so indifferent to you, and it hurt.

Suna scoffed. “Friends? Since when have we ever been friends?”

You froze. Past and recent memories of all the times you had spent with Suna had flashed through your mind. With the little self respect you had left, you lightly, albeit painfully, smiled.

You gripped your backpack straps tighter and stepped back. With eyes filled with blankness Suna had never seen, you shrugged. “Right. We’re not friends. I must have been foolish to think so.”

You turned around and walked away, leaving Suna with slightly wide eyes and a frown.

From there on, you completely ignored Suna. You no longer sat with him or the twins, but you did stay in close contact with Atsumu and Osamu. You had told them that you were no longer friends with Suna, and although they were confused and tried coaxing you, they respected your decision to stay away from him.

You had found new people to befriend, and surprisingly, you became quick friends with the girl Suna had been staring at that one time. You didn’t want too at first, but you two clicked.

Sometimes, it was hard. You would catch Suna staring at you or he would try and talk to you, but you kept your guard up. You didn’t need him, or his friendship, and you were perfectly content with the way things were going.

Suna, on the other hand, was not. He had regretted what he had said that day as soon as he walked into class the next morning and you weren’t sitting next to him. He regretted it when he heard you laugh and he would never know why you laughed. He regretted it when you waited for the twins after practice and left with them without saying a word to him.

Most of all, Suna regretted it when he saw boys crowd you on Valentine’s day. You stood there, with chocolates in your hands and a smile on your face as the nth boy had confessed to you.

Suna wasn’t the kind of person to really regret anything. Mainly because he didn’t care for many things, but this, the pain he would wake up with every morning was the one thing Suna would regret forever.

Maybe if he had apologized, maybe if he had told you he didn’t mean it, things would have been different.

But when his greyish-yellow eyes stared at you carrying your lunch tray towards what seemed to be your regular lunch table, he knew it was too late.
