there was an octavia before there was a blodreina, but who remembers her?      it wouldn’t be fair to say she’s alone – she still has many devoted followers – but she does seem  lonely.  octavia survived all those years underground and for what? so that a  foreign child  could lead her people to salvation instead? octavia was forced to surrender in the final hour. it was necessary for survival, but that doesn’t mean it was easy. that doesn’t mean it wasn’t  wounding.

as echo sits besides the former queen, she pulls a handful of berries from her bag. hopefully, after echo spied for her in eden and saved her life in the gorge, octavia is ready to move forward.      “ your brother told me about your time in space, ”      echo admits,      “ at first, it seemed wrong...  you had adapted so well on earth.  surely, you had always been a leader. ”      but she hadn’t.      the girl under the floor had survived her own banishment just long enough to force it on to someone else...      but that’s war.      blodreina had her reasons and at the end of the day, they probably weren’t as personal as they seemed. maybe she needed a scapegoat, maybe she needed to set an example, maybe she just couldn’t spare the rations or extra thought.      “ but not having a home, people you trust... that is its own kind of drive. ”      a desperate one, a ruthless one.  a begging to belong.  it drove echo into the brutal embrace of an unloving queen. it didn’t matter that she was expendable, that she was abused, that she was isolated. nothing mattered because she finally had a home again and that was worth  whatever it took  to keep it.

finally, echo offers the berries to octavia: a meager peace offering.      “ i don’t it expect it now...  but when you would like to know me, i would like to know you. ”      if that day never comes, so be it. maybe octavia  does  despise her personally and she will never see it any other way. at least echo has offered to make amends.

“weikru”  originally referred to group of people  that lived to the west of the coalition  prior to praimfaya. in the eden timeline, it refers to members of that population that  survived in the colorado bunker.

weikru – “western people.” west-crew. alternatively weigedakru (west-gather-crew; people who gather in the west). they get a “kru” name because they are not a faceless force like the mountain, they are a visible group of people.

they are considered “grounders”  because their ancestors survived on earth rather than in space after the first apocalypse (just like the echo, lexa, emori, etc).

they do not refer to themselves as weikru.  that is a name that the coalition made for them (similar to how arkers refer to the twelve clans as “grounders”). self-appointed name tbd.

they were  more technologically advanced  than the coalition, but hid that to avoid being compared to the mountain men and to conserve resources.

the population was over 1000+ prior to praimfaya but was  reduced to several hundred during the apocalypse.

tentative lore   that i’m still debating

trading with the coalition slowed  during the internal conflicts of seasons one-two and  basically stopped  after lexa’s death. trading was then done on an individual basis without connection to the clans’ now-turbulent central government. their main trading partners were ingranronakru, the western-most clan in the coalition.

they have  very few nightbloods  in their population. the coalition gained access to nightblood after becca franco (“bekka pramheda”) injected herself with the solution and started distributing it amongst the eastern apocalypse survivors. nightblood was only introduced to the western clans through intermingling with the coalition and subsequent reproduction. because nightblood is a recessive genetic trait, it is unlikely to take over the population  –  OR  –  they are  all nightbloods  because they figured out how to recreate becca’s nightblood serum and now administer it to all their people... but then why did they need the bunker? comfort and then resources (since their land is a wasteland)?

spring has finally started to set in. even after another apocalypse, southern mays are a sight to behold. wildflowers grow in the valley and berries begin to appear on the vine. far from ripe – a light green, easy to miss – but their promise of hope, of fruition after the laborious winter, is a marvel in and of itself. there’s a cool breeze. the village is calm.

then the fucking radio goes off.

“ eveline, ”      echo’s staticky voice calls out,       “ eveline, respond.  it’s urgent. ”      they’ve never had trouble at the west end before. they were even considering building houses there. today, that changes.

incorporating the  sanctum characters  (seasons six to seven) into the  eden verse  (canon divergent season five)  as a  weikru.

eden verse is an alternate ending where  wonkru and eligius share the valley at the end of season five.  read more about it here.  sanctum and the other planets introduced in season six to seven do not exist – or if they do exist, our characters do not know nor care about them.

concept    western clans

in 401, a woman in egypt dies due to praimfaya radiation. this implies the  existence of people outside of the grounder coalition  (eastern north america). it is canonically established that the only survivable land on earth is shallow valley.

people who lived in western north america survived in a bunker in the rocky mountains. after praimfaya, they sent out  expedition teams to find viable land.  these expeditions started in 2055, one year before the wonkru bunker opened.

by 2056,  they arrive at shallow valley  only to find the wonkru and eligius survivors already there. their best chance at survival is to make peace with the native population so that they can share their land.

characters    au sanctum/book two characters

josephine lightbourne:  leader of expedition alpha, the expedition team that finds shallow valley. she will do whatever it takes to secure her people’s new home.

gabriel santiago:  josephine’s estranged boyfriend. they disagree about the best way to live in shallow valley.

levitt:  a more soft spoken member of the expedition who takes a liking to octavia.

trivia

the western population did not know about shallow valley ahead of time. they sent expedition groups all across north america and one happened to find shallow valley.

the grounder coalition knew about the existence of the western population. they referred to them as “weikru” meaning “people of the west.”

clarke kills mccreary before he can launch the missile. bellamy convinces madi to spare the remaining eligius prisoners and share the valley. clarke, raven, and the others meet the survivors in the village.

spacekru take their eighty acres on the eastern edge of the valley. commander madi learns how to lead wonkru. clarke and octavia are at odds with their people.

VERSES BASED IN CANON

main verse:    follows seasons one through five with a few embellishments. information revealed in later seasons, six through seven, does not apply. each season is one month long with a three month time jump between seasons two and three and a six year time jump between seasons four and five.

azencova:   pre-series through season four.

space:   the six year time jump between season four and season five.

five:   season five; echo’s loyalty has evolved to include spacekru and their loved ones as well as azgeda/wonkru.

eden:   canon divergent. clarke shoots mccreary and the missiles never launch. earth survives. wonkru and eligius share the valley under a fragile peace. echo and her family take eighty acres on the eastern edge of the valley. all is well... until a small, foreign expedition team shows up at the edge of the valley.  who are they? where did they come from? and most importantly, what do they want?

alternate universes:    divergencies from my main verse and canon

skaikru:   echo was born in space and raised on mecha station. she served as a guard on the ark and continues to serve in arkadia. she was in the same cadet class as bellamy.   delinquent:   echo was born in space and was sent to the ground with the rest of the hundred.   simulation:   everything from canon was a simulation and skaikru echo wakes up on the ark.

the last of the human race:   takes place after the battle at mount weather.   version one:   also known as   “civil war au.”   azgeda allies with skairkur and prepares to dethrone commander lexa.   version two:   commander lexa does not abandon skaikru in 215 and instead the arkers and the coalition take down the mountain together as planned.

time jump:   any verse where echo is not in space during the six year gap between seasons four and five.   bunker:   echo lives in the second dawn bunker for six years.   azgeda bunker:   echo lives in the renovated alpha station bunker with 50 members of azgeda and 50 members of skaikru. the bunker was never damaged in 402.   valley:   echo lives in the valley/eden/louwoda kliron during the six year gap.

post-season five:   verses that take place after the season five finale other than the eden verse.   ark two:   after mccreary’s missiles blow up the valley, the human race returns to space. some decide to take the eligius ship and search for a new planet while others return home to the go-sci ring.   book two:   alternate versions of season six and season seven. rarely used.

modern:    her biological family died in a house fire and subsequently put into the foster system. in verses where she was adopted by nia, she becomes a lawyer who loves photography. in verses where she was not, she becomes an army soldier.

band:   echo is a bassist in a band and also sings backup vocals.

werewolf:   echo is a foster kid who ends up triggering her, unknown to her, werewolf curse.    azgeda pack:   echo joined nia's pack and serves her faithfully. based on tvdu lore.

hunger games:   echo is a district two victor who now mentors new tributes.   the hundred games:   echo and all the other characters are placed in the universe instead of the original characters.

walking dead:   to be announced.

dark angel:   echo is one of the x5 series. her primary function is as a spy/assassin and she partakes in seduce and destroy missions when necessary. her identification number is x5-507 (subject to change). she escapes manticore during the 2019 fire.

something is wrong...  something is very wrong.      echo narrows her eyes and peers into the woods around them. the hair on the back of her neck prickles; she can’t shake the feeling she’s being watched.      “ stay by me, ”      she cautions rapunzel. the warrior takes her sword out. she can’t hear anything in the brush; they’re certainly not being followed and as far as echo knows, no animals survived praimfaya.

“ they’ve moved on without you, ”      her thoughts start to whisper.      “ monty and harper resent you for fighting in the war. raven will choose shaw over you. octavia will never forgive you and bellamy will leave you for her. murphy and emori will remember they’re better off without you. ”

her knuckles pale against her worn-in leather.  not now.  she has to be alert... these anxieties can’t control her here.      “ are you feeling okay ? ”      echo was fine this morning, she felt  good,  even... why is she suddenly so insecure? it’s a routine scouting mission for new farm land. she can handle this and she  knows  that.

how would echo cope if your muse died ?

she  barely  makes  it  though  the  battle  :      arrows  fired  between  choked  breaths,  tears  blurring  her  vision  after  each  shot.      his  body  ;      dead,  unmoving.      her  hands,  warm.      his,  cold.      octavia  helped  her  pull      it      him      into  the  rover

it  was  an  explosion,      she  said.      echo  did  not  respond.

she  does  not  talk  to  wanheda  for  a  year.      i  was  just  trying  to  protect  my  family,      the  woman  explains.      it  cost  me  mine,      echo  thinks.

eight  months  later  a  little  boy  is  born.     it  doesn’t  take  long  for  him  to  grow  thick,  curly  hair  like  his  father.      he  has  the  same  mischievous  smile,  but  his  mother’s  sense  of  discipline.      thank  god.      echo  even  smiles  again.      it  is  not  as  full  as  it  once  was,  but  it  grows  stronger  as  her  child  grows  taller.

a  boy  named  blake,      she  decides.      blake  kom  idonkru  ;      blake  of  eden.      octavia  holds  him  once,  but  only  under  echo’s  watchful  eye.      the  woman  still  has  her  demons  and  echo  will  not  see  them  released  on  her  son.

she  takes  blake  to  his  father’s  resting  place  every  year.      a  nice  patch  of  dirt  by  the  lake,  marked  with  pretty  rocks.      every  time  she  finds  a  new  one,  she  leaves  it  there  for  bellamy.      monty,  raven,  harper,  and  the  rest  of  their  family  have  taken  to  the  habit,  too.      when  the  sunlight  hits,  the  grave  shines  like  bellamy’s  smile.

raven  teaches  blake  tech  and  monty  teaches  him  how  to  farm.      echo  teaches  him  how  to  love  with  every  inch  of  her  bleeding  heart.       it  is  a  good  life,  she  decides.      one  bellamy  would  be  proud  of.      and  she  holds  herself  to  that  standard  every  day.

echo   +   motherhood in eden      (   season five main ending   )

echo had never seen herself as a   mother.      it was never a path she felt was available to her.      however,   she has always seen herself as a   protector      and that is exactly what happens when they settle in eden.

386 members of wonkru died during the six year gap.      417 more died during the battle of the gorge.      this leaves many kids without guardians.      just finding a peaceful land is not enough to make them okay.      they still need someone to help them and look out for them.

and maybe echo remembers that when   she   was orphaned at age eight,   she was sold to azgeda to be a child soldier.      and maybe she doesn’t want that to happen to anyone else.

so she and bellamy look after the kids.      they make sure they have enough food, water, and clothing ;    in the winter, they make sure they have blankets to protect them from the exposure.      it is through this process that they take in   erika kom wonkru idonkru    and become her guardians.      they think of her like a daughter.      she had parents before them and they would never dream of erasing that :    they only hope to make her life going forward a little easier.

choosing motherhood,   after so denying herself of it for so long,   is a conscious choice.      she chooses it because she realizes she can make a positive difference in these kids’ lives just by looking out for them.      by being the guardian she never had.      and she comes to this realization in part because of her found family :      if she had not spent six years in space re-learning love and family and friendship,   she would not have realized that she was capable of helping the kids in this way.

i want to make a   masterlist of characters in eden   ( the valley they fought for in season five )   after the war between wonkru and eligius is over.   this also leads to a   peace au   where the world was not destroyed again and the adversaries now have to learn to coexist. there are still surprises and conflicts, though.

echo   wipes   her   mouth   on   the   back   of   her   wrist.      her   stomach   has   been   turning   for   days,      always   at   the   crack   of   dawn.      she   has   not   felt   this   awful   since   summer   on   the   ring ...      her   body   was   not   built   to   live   in   the   sky,   and   her      annual   radiation   poisoning      confirmed   it.

she   thought   she   was   done   with   her   sickness   when   she   returned   to   the   ground.      apparently   not.      at   least   this   year   she   doesn’t   have   as   many   burns.

echo   stands   up   and   takes   a   deep   breath.      “      has   abby   come   back   with   her   test   results   ?      ”            the   blood   sample  made   sense.      echo   is   not   sure   what   a      urine   sample      has   to   do   with   radiation,   but   she   is   no   doctor.      she’s   learned   to   play   along   unless   her   sky - born   family   objects.
