Luka loved the scent of the bakery in the fall.  It always smelled amazing, of course, but there was  something about the warm spices used in the fall baking that filled the air, wrapping around you like a hug that was just…

“Taste,” Marinette instructed, pulling him from his thoughts as she held a spoon up to his lips.  He went to put it in his mouth, but she pulled away with a squeaked, “Wait!”  He lifted an eyebrow, and he answering smile was sheepish.

Her answering blush was mesmerizing.

“It’s hot,” she said softly.  “Careful.”

His fingers gently curled around her wrist and guided the spoon back to his mouth, his eyes staying on hers the entire time as he blew on it.  Her eyes were so wide and so blue as his lips closed around the spoon, but then the flavor hit his tongue and his eyes closed in bliss.

It had smelled like spiced apples, but the taste…

“Delicious,” he murmured.  He was still holding her wrist.

“Marinette!  Is that apple filling ready yet?” her dad called from the other side of the room.  She squeaked again and jerked away from him, shoving her mitts back on and grabbing the pot from the stove.

“C-coming, Papa!”

The scent of apples stayed with Luka the rest of the day, warm and comforting.  Like a hug.

Like one of Marinette’s hugs.
