Day 17/100: Let me introduce to you my favorite word and general feelings on making one od these are cards this evening. I haven't had a bad day per se, but I am very tired which is exacerbated by the benadryl I had to take after mowing the lawn. Day 14/100: I decided to further explore @skillshare this evening for doodling and zentangle goodness. After pursuing through a few classes I settled on one by Ms. Kim Mastromartino. I have always been big into doodling, but have never formally learned anything about Zentangle itself. My patterns have largely been influenced by the Asian and Middle Eastern community I group up around in grade school. Henna was a big deal, and if I was wearing a pattern it was probably paisley. Not much has changed in that regard. :) . . This was an interesting little project! The bottom fourth patten is definitely my favorite. It reminds me of stained glass, so now I am thinking of ways to incorporate that into future work. It also reminds me a bit of the glass and metal framework of a building just outside of downtown Dallas that I have always admired. . . This was drawn entirely with a @stabilo Sensor F pen with white accents from a @fabercastell 1.5 bullet nib pen on a brown kraft paper card. Both pens I am pretty sure were acquired from @artsnacks boxes some time ago. Day 13/100: I am still on a gouache kick, but tonight with a more abstract flair with the flowers. They kind of remind me of bluebonnets. ❤ . . Day 4/100: Woohoo! Caught back up. I just realized that it is Easter weekend, so I decided to paint a couple of decorative eggs! Decorating Easter eggs was a big deal when I was a kid. My Nanny would bring out all of the coffee mugs she had and boil some white vinegar and let us go to town adding food coloring to the cups to dye our eggs in. We would spend hours seeking them out after the adults hid them across my Nanny's yard. We had the best time! . Day 3/100: I am a teensy bit behind, but that's okay. I have been busy cleaning up my front and backyard so I can garden! I also intentionally went with the small art cards so it would be easy to catch up. I am still fixated on drawing flowers, and these all started off as different sized hexagons. I like using my stencil shapes as placeholders for designs. I was also trying out a new technique with color pencils that involves using Gamsol to blend them. I think this method would work better if my paper wasn't textured, but I am still pleased with the results. I am looking forward to trying this out on a bigger drawing sometime soon. . Day 2/100: Tragically, just as I finished this painting a droplet of water fell on it, so the left hand side got a bit smudged. Oh well! I still like it. I decided last night I really liked the metallic watercolors, and I wanted to test the gold out on some black paper. I am impressed with the results, and I really like the contrast against the dark background. . This was painted free hand on black cardstock with a Princeton #2 round brush and metallic watercolors from @artphilosophyco ~ my gold @prismacolor pencil was used to sign my name. I decided to try #The100DayProject this year. I have attempted it before, but I believe the first time around I suffered an injury in the middle of it that put me out of commission. lol, here's to hoping for better outcomes this year. 😅 I am planning on making small artist trading cards. A small thing is easier for me to commit to, even if I end up busy or overwhelmed. They'll be done in traditional media and will range from just little patterns to tiny illustrations. Day 21/100: Today I revisited the same beginnings of yesterday's doodle which was a looped line drawn across the page. As I was making yesterday's card I thought to myself, what if I turn these loops into flowers? I sort of did that here, but not quite. I will probably do this again, but try to stick to my original idea. I make no promises, tho. 😉 . . Day 18/100: Playing a little bit of catch up since writing and finishing my painting of my friend took priority last night. I was making a little color chart of highlighters I have and decided I liked how the graph looked. I tried to reproduce it on this card and accidentally drew one line too many, hence the black filled squares. . . Day 16/100: LET ME TELL YOU 'BOUT THIS LIL JERK. 😂 Y'all. This little card gave me fits. I was 2.5 seconds away from being 100% done and a huge blob of white ink came splashing down out of my brush pen. (The audacity! lol) So then, I fill in the edges with this questionable pepto bismol pink. Once again, just as I am nearly 100% finished, a blob of water falls onto the edge of the page. I very carefully laid a paper towel on that edge, tidied it up a wee bit more, and now, questionable composition be damned, IT'S DONE. 😂😂😂 . . Day 15/100: I actually made this a late last night for today's post so I could spend more time painting today. This Zentangle pattern is called N'Zeppel which was use in part of my last art card. I liked the look of it so much, I decided to revisit it. It still looks like stained glass to me. Or shiny candy! Or buttons! Either way I love it and will probably be drawing this again in the future. . . Day 12/100: I have already said it a couple times today, but I am going to say it again: I am super in love with this gouache paint. I kind of went a little overboard with the metallic paint on this one, but I don't care, lol. I wanted to test the opacity on dark surfaces, and these paints did not disappoint. I painted some four o'clock flowers. They're one of my favorites since my Nanny had some when I was a kid. Now I have some I that grow wild every year on this tree stump next to my house. . . . Day 11/100: Annnd we're back to patterns and limited palettes. I was fortunate to have today off work, because I am so, so tired. I could barely keep my eyes open while working on this, so forgive my wobbly line work. 😅 . . I have always enjoyed the look of kraft toned paper with black ink/white accents, so that was the look I was going for here. I also decided to not tape off my edges since this card is slightly more narrow than the others I have been working on. . .
