Seblaine Week FAQ
Tumblr media
Wait, when is Seblaine Week again?
SOON! Seblaine Week 2022 will be from August 15-August 21. Themes have already been picked and dates have been assigned and they can be found here.
Who can participate?
Everyone. All it takes is an appreciation of Seblaine.
How can I participate?
You can contribute by writing, creating art work/manips, making gifsets/playlists/ videos, really whatever you can think of to fit the themes. And if that’s not your thing that you can spread the word, cheer on your friends who are contributing, bask in the beauty of everything produced, and reblog and share all the Seblaine Week goodies.
Can days be combined?
Absolutely! You can combine any days you want. And if you do combine days you can post on whichever day you prefer.
If I want to contribute something do I have to do something for every day?
Definitely not. You can do something for just one day, a few days, or all of the days. Or, in tried and true Seblaine Week fashion you can plan to do every day, realize the week before Seblaine Week starts that you were kidding yourself, and settle for just a couple of the days. You don’t have to tell us ahead of time, so there’s absolutely 0 commitment.
Can I post a WIP or something that I started working on before that fits a Seblaine Week Theme?
Yes to both. If you start writing something and it ends up getting out of hand and there’s just no way you’ll finish it you can post it as a WIP and finish it outside of Seblaine Week. (It will not get reblogged on Seblaine Affairs after the week though.)
There are also no qualification that everything has to be new for the week or a need for a certain percentage of the work to be made just for the week. If you have something in your WIP that has been 98% finished for almost a year that’s more than fine.
I’m going to be busy/out of town during Seblaine Week. Can I post early?
No. Sorry. :-( But luckily tumblr does let you schedule posts so you can schedule the post for the right day, even if you won’t be around that day. This gets a little trickier if you’re also posting to another site like Ao3, so if this might be a problem let us know and we can work something out.
Can I post late?
Within the week, yes. There will be another post about tagging and the importance of it. But as long as everything is tagged the right way you can post your day 2 piece on day 6 and that will be fine.
What does free day mean?
The free day is a themeless day where you can post anything you want. It could be based off one of the submitted themes that didn’t make it but you really wanted to win. It could be a random WIP you’ve been working on and finally finished or just something you’ve always wanted to do. It’s just a day for anyone to post anything, really.
What does x theme mean?
Your guess is literally as good as ours. Seblaineaffairs doesn’t pick the themes, themes were submitted by other Seblainers and then voted on by the community. We have our own interpretations of what they mean but that doesn’t mean they can’t mean something else.
If Blaine and Sebastian are involved and there’s some connection somehow to the theme then we say go for it.
What is this I hear about this being the last ever Seblaine Week?
You have heard somewhat correctly, in that this will be Seblaine Affairs’ final event and, therefore final Seblaine Week. We’ve had a wonderful run for the last... many years but we are old and tired and not able to keep running this blog the same way we had in our younger years. Will someone be taking up the mantle and starting their own place for Seblaine Week/other challenges? We’ve heard rumors that it might be happening but more than that, we cannot say.
What if I have a question that wasn’t answered here?
The askbox is always open.

OC Bingo ask time :::
When did the spark of inspiration hit you for your OC's (Willa or Augusta or both)? When did the moment of clarity strike where you had the 'alright we're doing this' moment? Was it a moment while watching it the first time, thinking back on the source material, a song that hit just right?
And if that's not how it works for you, how did your OC's come to life?
((Don't feel obligated to answer if you don't like the question - or you can answer a completely different question on something you want to gush about and pretend I asked that instead 😂))
Hey friend! I promised the answer this ages ago, but Uni has been kicking my butt, so my apologies for the late reply. Get ready to read a novel 'cause your girl's got some shit to say.
Willa
How Willa came to exist is actually a pretty good story. Quite a few years ago, now there was an ask game going around where someone would send a face claim, and you had to make an OC on the spot. Someone sent me Teresa Palmer, and Willa was born. Here's the original post. I had just started watching Chicago Med from the beginning, and Jay had just been in an episode, so it seemed like the right fandom and pairing. I was invested in Willa right away.
My lovely friend, Jess, sent me a dm begging me to tell her all about Willa. She's the only one I knew at the time who watched the One Chicago shows, so I was happy to oblige. I started writing her fic, decided on a name for it almost immediately (which never happens), and she was added to my OC page around that time, too. I made graphics, gifsets, teased her fic, and then abandoned her in true ADHD fashion. I followed the dopamine to my next hyperfixation and sort of forgot about her.
The 'alright, we're doing this' moment came about a month ago when I started rewatching old episodes of Chicago PD. I couldn't stop thinking about Willa, so I looked through the roughly three chapters I'd written of ELB before I jumped ship and decided then that I would post about her and her fic. A month later, here we are, and four chapters of Every Last Breath are available to read on multiple sites. Willa is the reason I became active in the OC community again.
Augusta
Augusta sprung to life from my obsession with Bridgerton and constantly listening to champagne problems by Taylor Swift. The song contains the lyric: "What a shame she's fucked in the head." That hit me like a ton of bricks, and not just personally. I imagined someone who went into self-imposed exile overseas to escape other people's judgment because of mental illness. I imagined a childhood friend of Kate's who was introduced to Benedict at hers and Anthony's engagement party. The reason they hadn't met before was that she'd been overseas for a while. My original idea and this fanfic idea merged, and that's how Augusta Hayes and her story, Cracks of Light, which is a nod to another Taylor Swift song, came to be. This is all a long-winded way of saying she came to be because I'm a Swiftie and have a soft spot for Benedict.
The clarity moment came when I didn't stop thinking about her for five months and decided to just post the first chapter of CoL. I'm still working on chapter two, but imagine I'll have lots of inspiration once season 2 drops in a couple of weeks. I'm always a slut for more Benedict.

Conversation
Revolutionary Girl Utena characters on Tumblr
Utena: Baby's First SJW Blog; well meaning - but full of innocent but sometimes overly simplistic femminist takes. Keeps getting into fights over-her-head with smarter and more nuanced SJW blogs. Also pics of herself working out. Spends most of her time in fandom fawning over hot female characters without realizing how gay she sounds. "Prince Aesthetic" posts, and gay right posts reblogged as an "ally"
Anthy: Rose Asethtic Posts, Pics of ChuChu, Pics of all of her animals (every single one of her snails has her own tags), sends passive-aggresive anon hate to basically everyone. Usually her blog looks cutesy and sweet, but sometimes she posts some REALLY fucked up stuff. Reblogs everything Utena posts, but sometimes leaves passive-aggrasive comments in the tags. Pink-Pastely theme
Akio: Super-pretentious asethetic blog for cars and roses and shits. Also incomprehensible "poetic" text posts. Sometimes pictures of himself shirtless. Reblogs vaugely "progressive" stuff to try and make himself popular, but if you dig enough on his blog you can see that's he's SUPER shitty actually. There were a few attempts to alert the tumblr community to his shittiness, but he still remains undeservedly popular. Some of his aesthetic posts are probably stolen too. Runs a sideblog that's basically Shitty-Car-Mods, but every shitty mod is ranked according to how hard it'll be to sexily pose on it with his shirt unbuttoned. Follows Anthy but ignores everything she posts.
Touga: Almost the same as Akio, but instead of pretending to be progressive he's just a proud Anti-Femminist who keeps trying to challange everyone who calls him out on it to "debate him". Gets blamed for stealing from Akio's blog at least once a week. Also has more book qoutes he probably doesn't actually understand.
Saionji: Shitty poetry about his angst\love for Anthy\lost friendship with Touga. Pics of himself posing with a sword. Kendo and sword-training videos that are actually very well done and very informative. Also an anti-femminist but he just reblogs badly-made MRA memes. Reblogs everything Anthy posts, no matter how weird it is. Tradional Japanese Aethetic Posts, and tea reviews. Has a terrible overly-minimalist blog theme.
Juri: Super-Professional Fencing Instruction Blog, mostly just videos of herself demonstrating fancing moves and sometimes posts to the same effect. "Actual Swordswoman Watches X" videos where she nitpicks swordfighting in media. Sometimes late at night she loses her impluse control and starts vaugeposting about her Lesbian Angst and Shiori, but deletes it first thing in the morning and denys it ever happened. In spite of being the only person on her blog, refers to herself as "Mod Orange"
Miki: Almost never reblogs, mostly original posts. Piano and fencing instruction videos, vaugeposting about everything from his sister to Anthy to that shitty thing Touga said last week. "Music Reviews" that spends 2 hours criticizing someone's five minute Undertale Piano covers. All of his posts are a bit too long and hard to understand, espacially his "Philosphy of Music" series - it basically reads like a Dual Song. One of those blogs themes that have the exact millisecond a post was posted next to them. Has a sideblog for fandom stuff where he writes a lot of very long meta that sounds super-smart at first but is actually overly-simplistic and lacking in depth.
Nanami: Pictures of herself, pictures of her outfits, more pictures of herself. Reblogs a lot of stuff from Touga though probably not the stuff about him being a totes Alpha Male. Tries to troll Anthy on Anon but everyone can tell it's her. NEVER reblogs any cute animal pics. Has a dreadfully overdesigned theme. Tries to do "Fashion Reviews" but generally shits on everyone who isn't her. Spends most of her time in fandom engaging in Shipping Discourse. Has a lot of weird rarepairs and gets pissed off when they don't become canon.
Wakaba: Reblogs everything Utena posts, sometimes loses her impluse control and reblogs from Saionji too. Sometimes cute selfies of her face, sometimes pics of Utena doing silly or undignifed things. Makes a lot of "Men are shit why are they so hot??" vaugeblogs. Reblogs gifsets and fanart of her fav media but never engages in Fandom Discourse. Default Blog Style.

And again, all skill levels and post types are welcome!
...and that’s a wrap! We look forward to seeing your entries!

Seblaine Week FAQ
Tumblr media
Wait, when is Seblaine Week again?
Seblaine Week 2017 will be from August 6-August 12. Themes have already been picked and can be found here.
When will we know what theme will be assigned to which day?
There will be a post sometime in the next week or so about the specific date of each theme. Currently, themes are just listed in alphabetical order and do not reflect what order they will be in.

Yes to both. If you start writing something and it ends up getting out of hand and there’s just no way you’ll finish it you can post it as a WIP and finish it outside of Seblaine Week. (It will not get reblogged on Seblaine Affairs after the week though.)
And this isn’t like a big bang or anything. There’s no qualification that everything has to be new for the week or a need for a certain percentage of the work to be made just for the week. If you have something in your WIP that has been 98% finished for almost a year that’s more than fine.
I’m going to be busy/out of town during Seblaine Week. Can I post early?

Within the week, yes. There will be another post about tagging and the importance of it. But as long as everything is tagged the right way you can post your day 2 piece on day 6 and that will be fine.

So, for example, Broadway AU could be Blaine and Sebastian working in theatre, it could be an AU based off a Broadway show, it could be them living in a house on a street called Broadway.
If Blaine and Sebastian are involved and there’s some connection somehow to the theme then we say go for it.
Does x idea fit the theme?
The lack of definite clarity on what a theme could or could not be can stress people out. So if you have a specific idea and you really are not sure that it fits and you really, really want assurance you can send a message (off anon only) with the specific idea and we will yea or nay it. There is a 99.9% chance we will say yea.
What if I have a question that wasn’t answered here?
The askbox is always open.
