Photoshoot of the Week: March 23rd-29th 2020 - Biljana & Audi A3
Tumblr media
The Geneva International Motor Show is among the automotive sector’s glitziest, with a high proportion of luxury and sports models, prestige brands and wild concept cars on display, and this year - despite a lower-than-usual roster of brands - looked to be following suit. Anyway the 2020 edition, which was to start on 2 March, was cancelled as a force majeure after the Swiss government banned public gatherings of more than 1,000 people in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The virus reached Switzerland in the last week of February and neighbouring Italy reported hundreds of cases. The viral outbreak that began in China has spread to 52 countries and territories, with Italian cases centered on northern provinces that border Switzerland. Geneva, home to the World Health Organization, which is fighting the epidemic, is a 3-hour drive from Turin, where Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has an operational base. Audi AG understandably said they supported the organizers' decision, but after the cancellation of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, the German company had quickly to figure out how to arrange the 2020 Audi A3 Sportback worldwide debut. In the end Audi decided to livestream Audi A3's reveal on March 3rd, which was set to be the first day of the Geneva Motor Show: basically the date of the A3’s reveal hasn’t changed, only the venue has. Now, though, it’s arguable even better because the world gets to see it live, rather than having to wait for members of the media to show it off. Nonetheless buying a car might not be your major concern right now. However, we will eventually get back to normal life and work, so you should take into account the new generation of Audi A3. The fanciest of the lot, the revamped A3 will continue to command a premium over its siblings, partly because of its badge, but primarily due to the extra sophistication it brings compared to its counterparts. Ater all the A3 was the forerunner of the hatchback genre: this car remains a stylish icon that is going to be hard to match even in the future. Just look, for example, at the sexy and amazing photos made by the terrific cargirl and socialite of Bosnian Serb origin and naturalized Swiss citizen Biljana Lazic with her beloved A3: what can you say? A perfect girl with the perfect car. You know, Swiss governemnt can shut down a motorshow, maybe the quarantine will be widened to all Swiss cities, but it will take much more than that to split Biljana from her obsession! *** *** *** The 2020 Audi A3 ranks in the middle of our luxury small car rankings. It has a well-equipped cabin and a range of powerful engine options, but most of its classmates offer more trunk space and much better predicted reliability ratings. The Audi A3 has been one of the most popular small executive hatchbacks for a long time, but this generation’s time in the limelight is fading as more advanced rivals bring more technology and desirability to the segment. Nonetheless the A3 is still a good all-rounder despite the increasingly aggressive competitors: strong, efficient engines, stable, confidence-inspiring handling and the ever-appealing option of quattro four-wheel drive mean there’s a lot to like about Audi’s Volkswagen-Golf-related hatchback. The Audi A3 is a handsome premium hatchback that shares its engineering platform, powertrains and technology with the Volkswagen Golf and VW group stablemates the SEAT Leon and Skoda Octavia. They’re all built on a shared MBQ platform, but the Audi A3’s price premium means it’s generally the most expensive of the bunch. Because the Audi A3 has been engineered to use lightweight parts, particularly up front, it has a lithe lightness on the road that the old A3 never had. Seriously – the handling is light-footed and playful in a way no mainstream Audi has yet managed. It grips hard, hardly understeers, even generates a semblance of feedback through the steering. Audi also offers three levels of suspension stiffness plus a trick magnetic ride option that’s well worth spending the extra on. The 1.4 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI petrol engines are effective, and more recent additions are the 1.2 TFSI and 1.4 TFSI ‘cylinder on demand’ motors, which bring a bit of diesel economy to the cleaner, quieter world of petrol cars. Most will still go for a 2.0 TDI, though there’s loads of choice if the post-Dieselgate world has put you off. The Audi A3 is a very smart looking car on the outside, with a bold grille and handsome profile, as well as the sharply angled headlights. You get a similar look on the other A3 models on sale – the A3 saloon, open-top A3 Cabriolet and rapid S3 and RS3. The Audi A3 is practical and easy to live with, too. Front passengers get plenty of seat adjustment and a good view of the road ahead and behind. Adults sat in the rear will also be comfortable with enough head, leg and shoulder room. Boot space is on a par with a VW Golf and a Ford Focus. All versions of the Audi A3 share one thing: an absolutely gorgeous interior, with top-level, class-defining fit and finish. The old A3 was, despite its age, at the top of its game in this area: the new one simply extends this leadership further, while bringing new features to the table too. These include on-board internet, fingertip recognition sat nav entry and Audi drive select. As for practicality, the hatchback ones are more flexible but the saloon has a huge boot. In the end the Audi A3 founded the premium hatchback genre, and it remains the best one. While a Mercedes A-Class prioritises comfort and a BMW 1 Series focuses on sharp handling, the A3 strikes a great compromise between the two. It doesn’t cost much more than a VW Golf to buy, either, making it a better value proposition than you might imagine. And with loads of petrol engines to choose from - not least the quite barmy 400bhp RS3 - you’ve plenty of options if you want to avoid diesel. This generation of A3, while updated, has been around since 2012, yet it’s still a mightily strong contender. #AClass #AudiA3 #A3#cargirl #fastcars #cargirls #carporn #RidinGirlsBlog #drivergirl #femaleriders #sexycar #AudiRS #RS #Audi #luxurycars #carchick #suvlady #suv #speed #roadracing #ridingsexy #carracing #truckgirl #sportcar #Audination #richgirls #Audilove #Audigirl #AudiRS6 #AudiRS3 #RS6 #BAE #RS #RS5 #AudiTT #AudiRS4 #quattro #RS3 #coupe #sportcar #Audir8 #Audigirls #rs7 #Audigirls #instacar #Audimotors #audiworld

2019 Subaru WRX STI S209 First Test: What Makes You So Special?
Subaru stans rejoice: A mythical S-model has finally landed on American soil. Subaru Tecnica International’s motorsport-inspired, limited-production creations were previously reserved for Japan, but now the Pleiades have aligned, and we get our own. Building off the WRX STI Type RA, Subaru’s speed-obsessed engineers proceeded to widen, stiffen, lower, and boost, resulting in the S209. It is, quite simply, the most powerful and performant factory-built Subaru ever.
As a week of hammering the S209 revealed, it represents peak STI. The car delivers a visceral, engaging driving experience that’s ever rarer in this increasingly digitized and electrified world. It demands and rewards your focus, goading you to dig deeper and work harder. If you want this analog thrill before it’s lost to kilowatts and computers, act immediately: Only 209 S209s will ever be built.
There’s a problem, however. Whereas the standard STI offers good performance value, the S209, well, doesn’t. The one we tested cost—sitting down?—$64,880. That’s approximately $27,000 more than a stock STI, a difference equivalent to a brand-new 2020 Outback.
Price is the S209’s curse, for as good it is, it’s the factor upon which it will be endlessly compared. Would you rather have it, or a mildly optioned BMW M2 Competition, or Audi RS3, or Porsche 718 Cayman? Or a stock STI, and a stack of cash with which to modify the hell out of it? Or, perhaps, a two-car garage of the aforementioned Outback and STI? Here even the most steadfast Subie bro must do some soul searching, and decide whether this ultra-exclusive super-roo is worth it.
The S209 looks like someone already dropped some coin to add street style to an STI. Those looks work, too: Every vent, scoop, and strake is functional. Gold rims under bulging arches look like they were swiped from a rally team garage. The regular STI’s infamous wing is replaced with a smaller adjustable unit, which, like the roof, is crafted from carbon fiber. Quad exhaust outlets are an STI trademark, here with a bespoke exhaust system behind them. Inside, the only clues that this isn’t a standard STI are the faux suede steering wheel and numbered dedication plate behind the shifter.
Subaru wrung everything it could from its EJ-series 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four, resulting in 341 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. How that power is delivered is as old school as the engine itself (its lineage traces back to the 2003 STI). Low in the rev range you can keep the throttle floored and not worry about breaking speed limits. After about an hour of lag the car lunges forward, commanding decisive gear changes and thoughtful planning to keep the engine on boost. Riding that surge gives the S209 dimension, and fun.
One S209 trick is the intercooler water spray, activated by paddles behind the steering wheel. Tug one and a mist hits the heat exchanger, cooling the charged air and feeding a more oxygen-dense, fuel-rich mixture to the cylinders—basically, extra power on demand. It’s not much and the effect is subtle, but it works. The higher the revs, the more you’ll feel it.
Where does the S209’s 31 hp, 40 lb-ft boost over the regular STI come from? Read our technical deep dive here.
Still, “this is not a drag racer—it hates launching,” said road test editor Chris Walton. Conspiring against it are that peaky engine and a driveline-protecting clutch damper which forces slow shifts. Walton found launching “requires more than 4,000 rpm to be in the torque, and major clutch slippage.” Despite his best efforts, “it bogs bigly,” and the S209’s quickest 0-60 mph time disappointed at 5.9 seconds—two tenths behind the standard STI. The much-less-expensive Honda Civic Type R did it in 5.0 seconds flat, while the similarly priced Audi RS3 did the sprint in just 3.6. Through the quarter mile it barely beats the regular STI, tying at 14.1 seconds, but ahead at 101.2 mph against 98.5 mph.
Walton thinks the S209 could borrow something from the aforementioned Audi, calling it the “number one candidate for a dual-clutch transmission (with launch control) ever.”
For better or worse, like the standard STI, it’s solely available with a six-speed manual transmission. Dastardly damper aside, it’s a pretty sweet setup. Shifter throws are short, tight, and require some shoulder. The lever itself feels very stiff, but there’s some softness in the gates. Consistent takeup starts just off the floor for the hefty clutch, and there’s a nice interplay between left foot and right hand. Short gearing benefits windy roads, not highways: Revs hold around 3,000 rpm at 70 mph.
Contrasting the S209’s drivetrain delays is its braking immediacy. Brembo six-piston front and two-piston rear calipers carry over from the STI but now hold high-friction pads. Typically soft-spoken testing director Kim Reynolds abandoned form, calling the brakes “Eh, so-so… That is, so, so amazing!” Brushing or stomping on the extremely firm pedal results in “instant bite, zero dive, and straight, steady stops,” according to Walton. He found the fade-free stoppers “extremely effective and trustworthy.” The S209 halted from 60 mph in 103 feet, improved over the regular STI’s 109 feet, and ahead of the M2 Competition’s 106 feet. Don’t worry about the squeaking and scraping noises—that’s just the track-spec pads working.
How much grip does the S209 have? It actually has more than that. Handling is where the S209 shines. During our First Drive, technical director Frank Markus called the car’s hydraulically assisted steering “a revelation,” praising its direct and lively feel. Supporting that is Subaru’s intrinsic all-wheel-drive system and the STI’s central limited-slip differential, plus specific Dunlop Sport Maxx tires and firm Bilstein dampers. It lapped the figure eight in 24.6 seconds at 0.78 g, a shade better than the Volkswagen Golf R’s 24.8 seconds at 0.77 g, but not quite as good as the 718 Cayman’s run of 24.0 seconds at 0.81 g. Nonetheless, at the end of the lap Reynolds beamed, “Holy moly what fun.” High praise from a guy who drives everything.
Much like what we found with the standard STI, the S209 impresses more on the road than by the numbers. As if to help prove the efficacy of Subaru all-wheel drive, rain dumped in Los Angeles for most of our review period. That didn’t stop us from venturing out to canyon roads at every opportunity. Through gritted teeth and furrowed brow it stuck and stuck, gobbling up twisties and begging for more. Every drive was a sensory delight, each to be remembered in the coming epoch of rechargeable cars and computerized steering.
But at what cost? With its preposterous price tag, the S209 forces a hard think. It’s hardly better than a regular STI. There are higher-performing cars at the same price. A robust aftermarket exists to build standard STIs a million different ways—is the S209 how you would craft yours? Exclusivity, perhaps, is the S209’s most notable selling point, and there may be buyers who take the investment approach, only to sequester it in a garage. Those who buy an S209 to drive, however, will always get a kick out of it. We sure did.

2020 VW Golf R
New Post has been published on https://whichautocars.com/2020-vw-golf-r/
2020 VW Golf R
The next VW Golf R is expected to be the fastest Golf in history when it goes on sale in 2020. The 2.0-litre petrol engine and a mild hybrid system will produce more than 400hp, putting it squarely in competitors with the Audi RS3 and upcoming Mercedes-AMG A45. It’ll appear in display rooms from 2020.
2020 VW Golf R Styling
The upcoming Golf will get a stylish new look, with pinched lights and a larger grille on the lower area of the front bumper, however the R model will pump things up quite a bit and look even more aggressive. It’ll get a smattering of carbon fibre pieces to mark it out as the alpha Golf, in addition to a substantial front grille to cool the engine and 4 oval exhausts sitting either side of a functional rear diffuser.
2020 VW Golf R Interior
The exterior’s racy make over will be matched within. Carbon fiber and Alcantara will exist on the dashboard, doors and the racing-style light-weight pail seats. There’ll also be a new flat-bottomed steering wheel with buttons for the suspension and engine settings.
Interior spy shots of the mk8 Golf, set to be launched in 2019, show that the digital motorist’s display screen should come fitted to all however entry-level models. As a result, expect the R to come with this feature as basic, where it’ll reveal a raft of driving, navigation and media-playback info.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
2020 VW Golf R Engines and Driving
The current Golf R is enormously out-gunned by the similarity the RS3 and A45, so the new model might pack an additional 100hp to help it maintain. To accomplish this, the car’s 2.0-litre engine will get some severe tweaking, and it’ll be signed up with by a 48V mild hybrid system.
This’ll let it provide the very best of both worlds– more power when you require it, and better fuel economy when you’re not hooning along a back road. This substantial power increase will kick the new Golf R from 0-62mph in around four seconds. All models will come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and long-term four-wheel-drive.
In the future, though, there are rumours of a completely electrical Golf R, using some of the technology from VW’s bonkers Pikes Peak-conquering maker, shown above. That car produces 670hp by having an electrical motor connected to each wheel, leading the way for an even faster, yet eerily quiet, range-topping Golf.
2020 VW Golf R Price and Release Date
The next Golf will appear in 2019 with the faster R model making its public launching a year later on. The additional efficiency over the outbound model means you’ll have to shell out a bit more than in the past, however– a cost of near ₤ 40,000 is likely as VW aims to ferret out the aforementioned RS3 and A45.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

Four Is the Furious: Mercedes-AMG Reveals New CLA 45
Watch out, BMW M2 and Audi RS3: There’s a new contender for the hyper-compact crown.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 lives again, now with far more power and performance than before. Packing the new M139 turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 engine—the most powerful production four-cylinder in the world—the CLA 45 throws down 382 hp and 354 lb-ft. A more potent version of this engine makes 416 ponies.
That’s largely thanks to its turbocharger, which features improved ducting and low-friction roller bearings to aid response and deliver a maximum of 30 psi. AMG engineers worked to give the punchy powerplant a naturally aspirated feel, indicated by its 4,750 rpm torque peak and 7,200 rpm redline.
It’s all bolted to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters, which sends power through AMG’s 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. While front-wheel-drive based, the system constantly distributes power between the axles, and can deliver it variably between the left or right side.
With launch control, this drivetrain allows a 0-60 sprint of 4.0 seconds, on to a 168-mph top speed unlocked by an optional driver’s package. Optional too is drift mode, which, like in its E63 stablemate, sends power solely to the rear axle for—as AMG puts it—”even more driving pleasure.” Keep in mind the cost of the CLA 45’s 235/55 R 19 tires before hitting that button.
Changes over the standard CLA improve dynamic response. Bracing in the engine bay increases front-end stiffness, while diagonal struts on the underbody tighten the rear section. Model-specific suspension elements, including springs and shock absorbers, work with adaptive dampers to provide driver-selectable modes ranging from Mercedes-soft to AMG-stiff. Additional drive-select modes adapt the car to conditions, whether around town cruising, wet road treading, or racetrack ripping.
Compared to the previous CLA 45, designers worked to further differentiate it from the base car. It now wears the AMG-signature trapezoidal multi-slat grille, which works with the squinting headlights to give the car a ferocious visage. The lower fascia features twin inlets to feed heat exchangers, surrounded by aerodynamic splitter elements. Around back, double double-barrel exhaust tips sunken into the diffuser blat out what’s sure to be a delightfully crackly exhaust note. A trunklid spoiler and front bumper dive planes come with an optional aero package.
The interior gains visual distinctions including front bucket seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Lest you forget you’re inside the sport model, AMG reminds you with available red or yellow seat belts, dashboard stitching and trim, and air vent surrounds (yellow trim is part of a special edition). Brushed steel pedals and door sills further the theme. Like the standard CLA, the 45 includes Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system. Here, however, it features AMG-specific readouts which show a g-force meter, manual-mode gear display, and engine data such as temperatures or real-time power output.
With the A-Class now opening the door to entry-level Mercedes-Benz ownership, the CLA is elevated as a more stylish, sporty offering. That’s especially true of this new 45 AMG, which sits at the top of the range with the CLA 35 AMG below. It competes against other hardcore compacts like the BMW M2 and Audi RS3, and certain super-hatchbacks like the Honda Civic Type R or Volkswagen Golf R. Regardless, based on how the original CLA 45 performed, we’re guessing its successor will be more than good—we can’t wait to get behind the wheel.
The 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will go on sale by the end of the year in the U.S. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Photos of the Euro-spec CLA 45 are shown. Note that the 416-hp AMG CLA 45 S seen in these photos has not been announced for the U.S. market.
