There was a time gap between the two drawings which explains the differences in technique and effort lol.

I drew Phantom Ayano in January 2021, tweaked her (color correction mostly) throughout the year, and eventually drew her regular form/school outfit while managing to keep a similar style. I actually tried to (more or less) emulate the Persona 5 art style. Think it turned out alright.

A frequent initial reaction to this image is: “where’s the face? thinking emoji” to which I reply there is NO face, it’s all birb

There was a long internal struggle over which of two concept ideas would make it as Ayano’s Persona. I almost gave up on Cyrano because female characters in Persona 5 get female Personas, but then I decided to go with him anyways because look at him. Tiny feet.

I had the idea to mix some birb into his design when I remembered Cyrano says something about his nose being a bird perch in his famous monologue. Why a pigeon though? No idea, just cause. Plus he’s got that cute heart-shaped cere.

Speaking of hearts, since I went with a love/devotion theme for this guy, I ended up drawing inspiration from the Jack of Hearts (playing card—mostly the French version) for his outfit, and adding it to the initial 17th century-ish cavalier look I planned for him. Historical fashion nerds pls don’t hurt me I know I mixed different epochs ow

it’s canon now, Ayano gets one of these “kiss the cook” aprons but she crossed out “the cook” with a marker and wrote “my ass” right under it

Link to 20xx tokyo galatea, my Akechi x reader/OC slowburn fanfiction! Finally reached chapter 22 out of 30-ish... So glad I got to this point honestly. Been thinking about this chapter since the very beginning, and this was definitely one of the biggest sources of motivation along with reader feedback.

Summary

In an attempt to slow down the rate of love confessions he receives and divert the public's attention from the mental shutdowns and psychotic breakdowns, Akechi tries to find someone to play the role of his princess.

Ayano is a quiet, boring, average student devoid of individuality and lacking any passions or dreams. She has never approached the Akechi Goro before, shows no interest in his celebrity status, and seems mature enough that he can imagine going on mandatory dates with her without feeling like gouging one of his eyes out.

Most importantly, Akechi sees no risk of ever falling in love with such a dull, bland, unremarkable girl.
