Dressing the 2276cc....

Dual EMPI 48 EPC carburetors on tall CB Performance manifolds bolted on. Carburetors have been cleaned, floats set, and jetted. Alert viewers may have noticed that the @vintagespeed.taiwan linkage installation started in the previous post. The threaded rods went on next.

@msdperformance 8mm street fire wires were then popped on. These were built from a bulk cut to length kit, allowing me to route them in front of the shroud. This was done to clean up the appearance and keep them clear of the carburetor linkage.

Exhaust was ordered this past week and will hopefully be here soon. Other than that, the list of needs is short: a new belt, oil cooler ducts, firewall tin, fuel and oil hose plumbing.

Quick specs: 82mm x 94mm, SLR XR296, Porsche rods, ported 42x37 heads, 8.6:1 compression - this one is going in a Bus.

This one is coming off the stand to make room for another build in the clean assembly room. Stay tuned.

1962 Italian Spec Single Cab - 125k This ad is for the Salesflap bus only. If you are interested in the Westy Salesflap trailer as well. I will gladly make you a package deal. I was told the conversion was done by Westfalia for a tailor, in Italy, to sell material. Rare is a word often overused. Not in this case though. This is a one of one bus. There is no other like it in the world. This bus draws a crowd everywhere I take it. It has been featured in many books and magazines, most recently AirMighty. Color - Turkis Interior - Como/Phoshur similar to a deluxe of the same era. Locking steering column, Italian spec "parking light" bulb on the dash, euro speedometer Engine - 2276cc w/ IDA's, Berg Linkage, JayCee stacks, jets covers, and other bling. MST valve covers with -8AN breathers connected to a breather box behind (front of the bus) fan shroud. Serpentine belt system, big cap Pertronix distributor with hidden coil and wiring. Transmission - Rancho Pro Street Plus with 412 R/P 3.78/2.06/1.48/.089 gearing which is great for around town driving and freeway cruising even when fully loaded with parts, merch, apparel, etc. Suspension - Vintage Warehouse "Slam-O-Matic" set up with a 4" narrowed/adjustable beam, 64-67 dropped spindles and late drum brakes in the front. In the rear is a straight axle with 4" drop plates and 5x205 drum brakes. Wheels/Tires - Original (Flat 4) Speedmaster wheels with caps wrapped in 195/60/15's tires in the rear and 165/50/15's tires in the front Electrical - Converted to 12 with an alternator, correct euro headlights with 12v bulbs, and correct euro taillights. The accessory taillights in the photos are not included in the sale. Flaps - Both sides and rear flaps open to expose the shelving inside. The three doors have dome lights with LED bulbs installed to illuminate the shelves at night. I recently installed a Jeremy Rockjock receiver that tucks nicely behind the bumper. With the Euro-spec round hitch installed it resembles an era correct piece and pulls my Westy trailer just fine. I am open to reasonable offers. Found this pic from 2004-2005 of the 2276cc that used to power my '63 Beetle. Built on a Mag replacement case stuffed with an EMS 82mm crank swinging Porsche 616 rods, wedgemated flywheel, Engle FK87 with straight cuts, 94mm AA Performance pistons, 10.5:1 compression, Oval port 42x37 044 heads, Scat 1.4:1 rockers. Fed by Italian 48 IDA's and lit with a Bosch 009, Compufire module and matching coil, exhaust was 1-5/8" merged header with one of my 2.5" muffler arrangements... great combination. HP? Never dynoed, but ran a 12.70 flat in the 1/4 mile with close gears & Firestone slicks.
